    So I bought a 56" Samsung DLP TV finally, and I've been intending to buy a new laptop (Trust me when I say I've been saving for almost a year for my new technology I've been wanting) and am going with an HP with an HDMI interface.

    My question is, can I just connect the laptop directly into my TV via the HDMI cable and have audio and video transmitted into the TV?

    So.. hypothetically, I could pop a movie into my laptop, or watch an episode of downloaded anime, and through the HDMI interface both the video and the audio the laptop would normally be playing would be routed to the television.

    Edit: apparantly the forums don't like you typing thread names in all caps. Go figure.

    I haven't read up on HDMI much, and I know it's an audio/video interface, but I'm just double checking that this would work.
