I just want to remind everybody!
When you finish SH2 check out my spoilers! I want to be able to discuss things with you dudes.
I've seen some very varied opinions on SH2, but a lot of them aren't as detailed as mine. I tried, not only to scratch the surface, but go deep into the mystery and write something meaningful, tried to think and discover everything... I think Hollow Point and Odin would probably be more interested in that then Lai Lai Hei and DarkViVi, but it's worth a check out.
Also, I've made a summary on SH2 monsters and what they represent. Just like I promised!! When you dudes finish the game, check this out, you might be surprised. There's also a lot of storyline spoilers in this. I thought I'd add in moe of a summary on the storylines, since last time was mostly characters and their pasts and emotions.
Spoiler: SH2 is based on a young man who has lost his wife Mary. It's not really a complicated situation, right? His wife is a dead, and he's feeling shitty, like every widow would. At some point, after she died, he has a pyschotic break, in which his mind begins to somewhat "lie" to him. He believes Mary died three years ago from a long suffered fatal illness (one which is never named in the game.) James is confused, but all along knows that he was the one who killed her... he smothered her with a pillow -- it was not in fact three years ago, but more like three weeks ago! James doesn't realise this until deeper into the mystery, and as he uncovers the truth of what his mind had seemingly blocked off, he suffers even moreso.
James enters Silent Hill after receiving a letter from Mary, telling him to meet her in their special place in Silent Hill. James, reluctant at first, wonders how the hell a dead person can send a letter. In any case, he hurries to Silent Hill, in hopes that his beloved wife is still alive.
This is all easy enough, yeah?
What you discover through the game, is all of these secrets to which slot into the puzzle of the game.
One of the most interesting parts of the game, is what things mean. I already spoke in a past post, of how Pyramid Head was James' guilt, and sexual wants from the assault he is seen taking out on "female" monsters.
There are other monsters, though, onces I feel have their own representations...
For example, there is the famous, and most found creature in the game...
Spoiler: The walking torso. It looks like it's in a straight-jacket. I personally think this is an object of isolation and struggling to know things.
Then there are mannequins...
Spoiler: They are bascially lower halves of two bodies, stuck on top of one another. Pyramid Head is seen raping these. I think that this is bought on by James' sexual side. Mainly mannequins are naked, the lower halves of them female (there's no penis and that's fricking obvious.)
Of course, we get to an interesting part.
Spoiler: The nurses. Covered faces. Mini skirts. Cleavage showing. Who's with me, here? An obvious answer to this one. The nurses, although there for a different reason in SH1, seem to have more meaning in this one. Not only do they fit the hospital scene, but they can also be looked at as another sexual factor in the game. A graphic designer on the SH Konami squad even mentioned something similar to the nurses being a sexual factor.
Personally, I hate the nurses. Not only do they carry powerful weapons that can easy whack you to death, but they're so freakin' hard to kill. Five or more bullets for one of these things? Hmm.
