    Windy. And windy. And windy. I went on a nightwalk through the city tonight though, and I liked the wind's prescence; it felt like I was being helped along.

    Have you tried the Job Centre, Chez? Maybe Jobseekers Allowance can help you - they give you dole money, and arrange interviews for you to try and get you off the dole so they don't have to pay you anymore. It could help.

    AND OH MY GOD I AM IN AN INSANE RAGE. ****ING SALMOND. In Scotland, in another pointless, annoying, and inane attempt to one-up the English governments, he has decided that it will soon be illegal for anyone under the age of 21 to buy alochol from shops. We can still drink in pubs. Where you can't smoke. I swear to God I am moving to Poland. WHY. NOTHING WILL CHANGE. The neds'll just get jakeys and their older friends/relations to buy their ****ing Bucky for them. Plus Salmond will only be adding another three years-worth of underage drinkers to the existing five/six.

    HE LOOKS LIKE JABBA THE HUTT. COME ON, MAN.

    *Looks at Daisy sig* Well all I can say to that is "DAN! DAN! DAN! DAN! DAN! DAN! DAN! DAN! DAN! DAN! DAN! DAN! DAN! I'll catch him later..."
    We and my friend Dan actually did that in the middle of a Sainsbury's car park. A lot of people got it and laughed, the Partridge haters however thought we were mental. Ah we'll live. Seeing Mr. Coogan live in November too, I can't wait

    Onto the matter at hand the weather is ****ing abysmal once again. It's so bad my house has it's own 'Flood Warning' from the Met Office. I suppose this is what we get for asking for a little sun from time to time. It's screwed up all my plans for about a week so as you can imagine I'm not best pleased. Still I quite like the rain too... normally. Well you have to living here don't you ha! It's meant I could catch up with some stuff I'd been putting off, like re-decorating. Everything's a lovely Peach. Mmmmm it's so sickly. Still got my stuff for Dippy even if it's another 13 bloody weeks. Best to be prepared.

    And Christmas shopping now is a good idea, we started putting out Christmas lines last night. I need to remember to kill whatever moron who thought it to be a good idea to put out Christmas Puddings on the 4th of SEPTEMBER. Oh well. Decided to leave said job regardless. I need a change of scenery.

    You lucky bastard!

    I love Partridge, I know almost the entire two series by heart now.

    Holy shit. Flood Warning? Good luck and I hope your house stays safe...
    And I'm sad it's still so long until you get to bring Dippy home, but at least in the meantime you can look for extra bits and bobs and toys to buy for him so that he has lots to do!

    Christmas puddings out now? Holy shit. Shame they taste like a type of rich dung.

    P.S It's only two seconds long, but here is what Sweet Pea looks like. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nt8dkI8AlSE

    I'm stealing your hamster. Just try and stop me.

    I saw pictures of the flooding in England on the BBC, Martin. Were you affected by it? If so, that sucks. If not, excellent news.

    Christmas pudding just now? Wait, does anyone actually buy those and eat them? And why in September...

    You know, there's a good song about Christmas by Loudon Wainwright called 'Suddenly It's Christmas; here's a sample of the lyrics:

    Dragging through the falling leaves
    In a one-horse open sleigh,
    Suddenly it's Christmas,
    Seven weeks before the day.

    Outside it's positively balmy,
    In the air nary a nip;
    Suddenly it's Christmas,
    Unbuttoned and unzipped.
    Yes, they're working overtime,
    Santa's little runts;
    Christmas comes but once a year
    And goes on for two months.

    Christmas carols in December
    And November, too;
    It's no wonder we're depressed
    When the whole thing is through.
    Finally it's January;
    Let's sing "Auld Lang Syne";
    But here comes another heartache,
    Shaped like a Valentine.

    . I love that guy.

    Ahh I know, it's really quite ridiculous because I'm not paying either, it's been bought for me so free gig for a comedy genius! I'll tell you all about it when I go so you don't lose out! But yep I be lucky indeed. Thank ye, the house is ok, more the general area is soaking right now but well I can always buy sandbags. Thankfully Manchester has a good drainage system so it dries out pretty quickly but I swear to God, one blocked grid and it's almost absolute chaos. The wait for Dippy's almost killing me but I'm still getting regular updates on the little one and you're quite right! It is giving me time to get everything set up! He's got quite a mini array of trinkets already.

    And my god... don't even get me started on Christmas... in fact I will a bit further down the post in response to Heather. Sweet-pea is such a cutie! I echo her sentiments, I'm planning a kidnap... We could steal it together. Would be an interesting theft.

    One: not only is that a fantastic poem, it's so bloody apt I've decided to photocopy it and post is all around work so that they may realise that getting the Christmas stuff out now is making the staff borderline mental. And you know, sales came in today for the weekend, and I took a look at the Bakery's takings. And I was sickened, positively sickened to find 10 Puddings had sold. 10. I'm tempted to track these people down because they're clearly not fit to live in our society. They're ****ing lunatics. I really really cannot stress this enough. And thankfully as said, my house is ok, we missed the brunt of it thankfully but it's nice to be thought of so *bows to you both*.

    It's that time of year again...are you all back at your various educational institutions yet, or if you're working, how's the job going?

    I've got my advising appointment with Tornfaced German Version of Boris Johnson (my guidance guy) on the 24th or something faraway and ridiculous like that. And then classes start a week after that. I have nothing to do until then except hope that nobody else has anything to do until then.

    My courses this year are Level 2 French (Qualified), Level 2 French History, Culture and Literature (Qualified), Level 2 International Relations and Beginner's Russian, Russian History and Literature. I can't wait to start learning Russian, and I love IR anyway; French will be the usual rigmarole of slightl boring classes, my only aim with them being to be able to speak another language fluently, because I've always wanted to, and think that maybe such knowledge would let me begin to see things in different ways since language has such a huge shaping effect on outlooks and analysis. And Russian because, well, it's always good to keep up with the fledgling hegemon .

    I hope the families of the 9/11 victims are getting plenty of hugs today, and more. RIP. The world won't ever forget them.
    First of all I would indeed class that as European news certainly. I mean we're in Europe and so is France and if only by that reasoning it's acceptable. It was smokin'. Ha must admit I stifled quite a few chuckles when I heard. I've never really been a massive fan of it. I don't know why really. Odd how you get these completely irrational dislikes of things.

    University starts on the 29th Sept for me, people are starting to drift into Manc land. It's good getting to catch up people once more but I'm not too impressed how everyone's gearing up for the Fresher's festival and I can't. I mean I can't touch a drop. Is anyone actaully aware of how much a J2O is? I will be sober, have spent more than an average night out and everyone around me will be drunk. Just bleeding fantastic. Looking forward to going back though. That's an extensive class list Heather, and really good luck my dear. Sounds like a lot of fun if you stick at it. And congratulations on the job too, it going to pay well? I hope so And you've done well to snag it! Especially with all the uncertainty regarding airlines and travel companies at the moment.

    9/11 was an odd day this year I think. I mean I don't think it recieved the same amount of press coverage as it has done in previous years. It's to be expected I suppose. It is seven years now, but well it should have got more that a two page spread. I wasn't all that impressed. RIP to all the victims. That day took a lot out of me back then, but of course it pales into comparison with the suffering of the friends and families. Hope they get the compensation and peace they deserve.

    Polar Bear assassination? I heard little about this... is there like a news feed for this? I would like a read. I would also like an explanation as to why Polar Bears are being targeted...

    Hmm can't find the article in english, just Dutch
    Apparently there was some guy that hated all the attention the little polar bear was getting and he set things on fire and tried to assassinate Knut as well, he failed though, odd little bastard.

    Someone tried to kill Knut?!

    The Hague. LIKE NOW.

    Since it's EuroNews, Bradford and Bingley (UK bank) and HypoReal (German bank) are both more or less dead in the water. Several other European financial brokers look set to follow. So, the EU leaders sat down tonight to work out what to do, and came back with that most quintessential, oft-repeated EU answer: 'We're not going to do anything.' Does this matter? Thoughts?

    He was jealous of a polar bear?

    What, did the polar bear have a huge dick or something?

    This is just another example of how petty some people can be. Go polar bear, eat that guys' face or something.

    EDIT:

    Heather; it's so like Europe to declare their boredom at trying to help it's own banks by sorting SOMETHING, ANYTHING out. I just imagine high up political Europeans yawning in their cute little leather upholstered chairs, asking for cups of coffee and looking at important looking documents and seeing something totally different.
    "BANKS ARE GOING BUST. GET OFF YOUR ASSES" just means "WE'RE OUT OF COFFEE, REMIND LOWER CLASS SLAVES TO GET SOME MOAR."

    This is a stupid post, go me!

    I wish I could write like that in my essays, Chez. But I'd get shouted at . They had to try to find a way to help without contravening the Maastricht Treaty (FUN FACT: if America were in the EU, they'd have been flung out months ago for going against the economic regulations held in that same Treaty). In their defence, that wouldn't be easy, but they should have done something.

    They've been annoying me lately, especially Sarkozy. Over the past few weeks they've been muttering smug little things about America's economy. One German periodical ran with a picture of the Statue of Liberty, flame extinguished, and the headline 'The Price of Arrogance' or similar, as their front page. Spanish financial ministers muttering about how much better they are for having things like Maastricht to avoid such situations. Assholes. All this while B&B, HypoReal and others go down the tubes. Like they're going to abandon free market policy. Twats.

    /end EuroRant.

    Chez, the attempt on Knut's life was a serious matter! Have you ever seen the little guy? Here: Berlin's finest resident since Bowie hung out there in the 80's. How could you want that dead? Seriously, how ****ed up do you have to be?

    I repeat my demand for the assassin's trial to be held in the Hague. Before or after Karadzic, you choose. Man.

    Ahh the Credit Crunch. Lacksadasical economics leads to bust. Wow... who knew. Who couldn't have possibly seen that for a start lending to those who can't pay it back is a bad idea... but not only that it tends to lead to the lender losing money. What a unique concept. I have aboslutely no sympathy for the banking system though, they employ people to forecast this type of occurence, and well they've been making gargantuan profits of the back of the public for centuries. My only irritance is that we all have to suffer as a result of their negligence. America in particular. I'm very opinionated here but well they screwed it up and we're all going to suffer as a result.

    However the EU is being just as negligent in sorting this whole mess out. I may sound like a typical Sun-reader but well we need to sort our own house before we end up bailing the others out. And as for America not wanting to contravene Maastricht... well. I don't think they should have the authority to, it's a treaty that is signed by many soverign nations... EUROPEAN nations. Showing favouritism won't help, and will only serve to help American interests in the long-term when economic debt needs to be repaid. They got into this mess, they should be sorting it out. My patience is wearing very thin with Wall Street, it's like they say in a crisis like this, the richer get richer whilst the poorer become destitute.

    And poor Knut. I'm still yet to read about it but I'm sure I'll get around to.

    America have no authority over Masstricht whatsoever, Martin. I just read somewhere that, if they were in the EU, their subprime behaviour would have contravened the Treaty and resulted in them being flung out. Sorry for being confusing.

    The Germans are muttering again about saving HypoReal. Maybe it's past the point of all return now. The FTSE opened today with huge losses, everyone's nervous, and who can blame them?

    I'm starting to think that no bailouts will work. They'll just go back into the same places, and the cycle will repeat. The heads of the defunct Lehman Brothers in America made like $2 million from the liquidation of the company. It's depressing to think that people should be so greedy. They're getting a kind of comeuppance now, but it's going to affect us too.
