*shrug* Dunno what to tell you mage. I find it takes awhile to get anyone in any of the other RP clubs going in a battle. Why not try one of the Phoenix Knights? They're fairly elite and should give your new evolution a good test run.

As to the classes, Oskar, we're looking to keep it mostly old school, middle ages style of classes, but we'd like to expand from the basics. I've been considering something like a Black Smith class...basically a class that would be adept at making or repairing weapons, high strength, defense, and technique but low intellegence and resistance. but I've not even started work on this stuff as of yet.

Getting used to a new shift at work is no easy task.

Problem with the Phoenix Knights is that the club disappeared due to inactivity. Seriously. It's in the archives.

I'd be willing to play around, but I'm still not sure if my schedule will allow for it. My time is torn between work, the hospital, and what little social life I can salvage. I still stand by the idea that real life is more important than the internet. I could sacrifice a bit of MMORPG time for writing, I suppose.

Question is, am I still stuck in a writers' block?

Consider this a possibility of an acceptance; however, if someone else opts to write with you first, by all means, jump on the opportunity. I'll let you know in a couple days how things are looking and whether I'm available or not.

It's been a LONG time since I've done any serious writing aside from scripting my comic.

Re: Topic -- I'd also be willing to help out with the job class idea, but won't take any offense if you'd rather exclude me in order to keep things "within the family," so to speak.

Colt...don't worry...I asked and they allowed me. Working with two people wouldn't be a problem for them, wouldn't it?

Aaanyways...if you're keeping it Middle Ages, then surely there'll be knights and regular infantry, perhaps druids, clerics, and the usual peasant. Archers, and perhaps the archetype of the ranger are also in. Have you looked beyond the borders of Europe? A desert warrior wold be very unique, as the Arabs proved. Viking berzerkers, and Mongolian invaders are very good things to adapt, especially as enemies. Also, consider that maritime classes in the era are scarce (no pirates and corsairs), but you can allow the sailor to exist, unless the area has no borders. It all depends on the region where you want to keep it. Oh...I also forgot...alchemists were quite popular those days. They can practice true alchemy, but also adapt things of regular chemistry. Besides, they serve as excellent poisoners. And, if you want healing but not magical, consider apothecaries. And...I was thinking about a whip-wielding kind of executioner/torturer. Crimeflayer, perhaps?

Blacksmiths would be more the kind of guys who can use any weapon but favor their hammers the most. They are quite...how to say..."flexible" in combat, perhaps improvising horseshoes and hot ash as range weapons. And sledgehammers, too. For repairing and creating tools, you'd require a good system to determine their chance of success. Keep it so they can only repair at smithies, allowing only the most experimented to use such skills outside. Also, do you want a generic blacksmith, or a specialist kind? You can draw many classes from a generic base idea. Thus, you can get the weaponsmith, the armorer, the blacksmith (that deals with black iron and steel to create items), and the siege engineer. Think about the system of stats and format, and I can help ya a bit more.

The RP will take place over different continents so your ideas for classes "beyond the borders of Europe" is a great idea, especially since there is a desert area planned.

    And I wouldn't exactly classify is as "Middle Ages" era. It's more or less a classic fantasy setting, much like Final Fantasy, but without all the industral type things popping up. No airships and such. ^^;
There is an ocean though so a sailor type class might be a good idea as well. Their weapon could be a harpoon or something. XD

I had also talked to someone about Bard and Dancer classes, but how do you think they would function in an text RP?

I like some of your ideas and will think some more about them.

Here's the list of my original classes just to give you an idea of what I've already come up with. I'm doing a secondary class type of thing in which each basic class can choose between two different higher classes that they can become later in the game.

    Just keep in mind that I wrote alot of this myself so it might not be very good... ^^;

+Swordsman (Lvl 1) - A warrior skilled in the ways of the sword.

+Knight (Lvl 20) - An experienced swordsman deemed worthy of title.

+Paladin (Lvl 20) - A holy swordsman with the ability to use holy magic as well as proficiently fight.

+Cleric (Lvl 1) - They are the people of the church. Wise and kind, they always use their powers to help those in need. Not only do they heal, but they also have supportive powers which will protect those in need from harm altogether. Clerics pray to the goddess Celesta for power and guidance. Clerics can use a staff, which they use to channel their magic, or mace type weapons. Clerics also have some resistance to dark magic and minor status effects such as lesser poison.

+Priest (Lvl 20) - Priests are much more proficient in holy magic and can heal more serious wounds, cure status effects and illnesses. They have a higher resistance to dark magic and serious status effects such as stone.

+Exorcist (Lvl 20) - Exorcists are a form of Holy Warriors who are proficient in fighting creatures both of undead and darkness. They use spells which can destroy or bind the creatures of darkness as well as draw them out of people who have been possessed. Their main weapon is a blessed mace. They have the highest resistance to dark magic.

+Mage (White, Red, Purple, Blue) (Lvl 1) - These are people born with the gift of magic. The color of their robes determines what rank and level of magic they are able to use; white being a Novice and blue being an Adept. Mages use a staff which they use to channel their magic. Mages also have the ability to detect magic properties in items.

+Arch Mage (Silver, Gold, Black) (Lvl 20) - Arch Mage are much more powerful and have a higher understanding of all things magic.

+Elementalist (Lvl 20) - Elementalist have the ability to use powerful elemental magic as well as summon the elements themselves.

+Warlock (Lvl 1) - (May change to Dark Mage or something similar)

+Necromancer (Lvl 20) - Necromancers use dark magic and have the ability to raise the undead and command them to do their bidding. They can also summon demons or other creatures of the darkness.

    +Death Knight (Lvl 20) -

+Thief (Lvl 1) - A class adept at using short blades to pierce the defense of their foes. They are common thieves and burglars and they make their money by robbing others. They constantly are looking for easy money, or hunting for treasure. They are excellent pick pockets and they can pick locks incredibly well.

    +Rogue (Lvl 20) -

    +Assassin (Lvl 20) -

+Archer (Lvl 1) - People skilled in the art of archery and hunting.

+Ranger (Lvl 20) - The master of the sword and the bow. They are an expert at tracking and are a friend to the forest.

+Beastmaster (Lvl 20) - A person with the ability to tame wild beasts.

Back from the Bahamas. Sadly, I'd have to label it a crappy trip. The resort was like going to Disneyland, everything was make perky and spiffy just for your visit. Leave the resort, and find out how unpleasant the place is.

Was listening to the radio... the prime minister was flat out, publicly, threatening a newspaper editor, for if he printed any more anti-gov't articles, then they're release incriminating/revealing photos of him.

    Eesh.

;_; I really don't care who, I just wanted to test out my new toy.

I hate to double post, but it seems the light banter has dropped off a bit and the last post hardly counts as a proper one.

So lets have a topic. Grindhouse. Excellent double feature film that brings back a classic style or waste of money and blatter control? I rather enjoyed it, even if Werewolf Women of the SS sounded more interesting to me than Deathproof.

Also, Masters sponsored Tournament for all challengers...an idea Prodigal sent my way. It could be interesting...what do you lot think?

    I full heartedly support it!

Also, to Shane, Godean, or Makoto - I pray I didn't inadvertently botch any names - I challenge, one, or two, of you to a rank battle! D:<

I'd prefer Makoto... But alas, with the ruling as it is, I cannot force any of you into battle. I shall be using the latest form of my oooold character. For those of you that know me/him, it'll be a shocker.

    HOLYFREAKINGCRAPYES.

I saw it Thursday night and I was blown away. More movies should be like Grindhouse. It was the most entertaining (and awesomely gory-without-being-ridiculously-stupid) movie I've seen in ages. Had I not seen it for free, I would have GLADLY paid for it. I'd be willing to watch it a minimum of two more times in different theatres just to see it as many ways as I can.

It's just because you don't love me...isn't it?

I'm going to end up getting desperate enough to make an open battle in the RPB area...and that'll be bad with those people that write all of 6 sentences and then are done.

    Alright...let's see...

As far as I can see, I envision your class system to be the kind that upgrades after a certain level. That's why you have Lvl1 classes and Lvl20 classes, right? Also, the setting is mostly fantasy, but with a tighter grip to reality than others.

    The first few classes:
--Swordsman: you plan on keeping it to swords only. It would be kind of unique and more, let's say, true to concept to rename it an "Infantry" class or "Soldier" class. That way, swords will not be the only weapon they can choose. And, it makes a more logical progression: they "upgrade" in "ranking"

--Cleric: Fine. Many class systems tie the cleric to the main divine/white magic user. And, it may seem that "Cleric" is often under "Priest". You may want to exchange "Cleric" and "Priest" of sides, and grant Clerics tougher armor and weaponry.

--Mage: A classic. A rename to "Arcanist" would be a refreshing choice, but "Mage" is still fine. "Scholar" may seem odd, but it would also allow the mage class to be considered an educated class, reserved for higher orders.

--Warlock: Well... This one needs some more workout. Apparently, it is a class that bargains with dark entities for power, right? The concept needs more workout, but seems fine. Perhaps if you call it "Bargainer" or "Contracter". It all depends on which is the dark entity you need to bargain with. Fiends? Daemons? Aliens from another dimensions?

--Thief: Ah, the class that thrives upon the grace of others. Seems fine, but it all depends if you want it to be a mere pickpocket or something else. If not, downgrade the Rogue. And make a new secondary choice for it.

--Archer: Well placed choice, to divide the range and melee classes. The problem lies in the upgrades: Beastmaster seems not to be a logical choice. Perhaps Berzerker -> Beastmaster...

--Other choices: Make a sea class, because it has two very distinct and logical progressions: Corsair and Captain. Also, keep in mind the desert region and the region that emulates the Norse. Especially the second option.

...well, I'll be checking the advanced classes later. Not much time. Think about the choices and make the necessary changes, when needed.

Very helpful Oskar, I'll defiently be keeping these suggestions in mind when I start working on the classes myself.

Madness...I'm afraid this may just be one of those times that you have to take untested material to a trial ground thats not quiet so safe or assurant of power. I'd fight you, but as you know, we're engaged elsewhere and two battles running parallel with the same person could grow...confusing. Wait but al ittle while...I think I may have a scenerio soon in which you may test your mettel to your hearts content.

Oh, and o na topic I started myself but didn't end up replying to

I saw it Thursday night and I was blown away. More movies should be like Grindhouse. It was the most entertaining (and awesomely gory-without-being-ridiculously-stupid) movie I've seen in ages. I agree that it was awesome. I really get kind of pissed at people that think the movies should be split up (these typically being people that only want to see Tarantino's movie, which in my opinion was the weaker offering of the two). The movies are actually not that important or really of that fantastic quality. Its the experience of seeing both and the made up previews that is compelling. But yes, I'd certainly be willing to have the experience again and I'll defiently be purchasing the DVD.

Very well. I wish you the best of luck in finding activity. When/if you do, send some of it our way.

    MERGED

I have an important announcement. Due to creational differences, The Masters will be shutting down for a short period. At the end of this interval, hopefully we will have made the changes necissary to continue on this forum. In the internim we will still be accepting applications, however you will not immediately be placed in the current heirchy as certain changes are bound to take place while the club is shut down.

We hope to have the necissary changes complete by the beginning of June. I will post any updates here or on the off site forum.

    MERGED

Pardon (the now) Triple post, but the reformation of The Masters has been completed. I'm afraid it ran a little over our original deadline, but the ruling council has reached a decision and has decided to dissolve the Godhand and re-institute the Circle of Nine.

The initial post of this club will be modified to reflect those changes and we expect for clan activity to pick up again shortly.

    Thank you for your patience.

    ..... Hello everyone!
Hoping to receive a welcome back as I know what I truly deserve is nothing more than scowls and hatred directed towards me. I was glad to see that the Masters was still up and running! I'm hoping to see some activity pick up as I need some hardcore duelling to get me back to me proper mental state. the last 10 months have been dedicated to my girlfriend and social life... but I now wish to pass some of my attention on to this club... I fear that it may be dead however..... I will try to resurrect this club to the best of my ability if I am capable....

    Greetings and salutations worthless plebians,

As our glorious undefeated Brotherhood has just determined, your existance has been tolerated far too long, and we take it upon ourselves to effortlessly crush you. The reasons are simple...we merely feel like it. As such, we would like to inform you that our armies are fully battle ready and at the arrival of this message, already marching towards your pitiful excuse of a fortification. At their arrival, immediate besiegement shall ensue until the small obstacles you refer to as a wall are toppled, and our warriors are free to storm and raid your mongrel pound. Know that no man, woman, nor child shall be exempt from a fate of eternal damnation in the pits of hell.

    Our terms are simple:

The war will be determined by 5 battles between our 2 factions. No warrior may participate in more than one battle, and the faction that wins the most battles will be the victor. These battles will be judged by a neutral judge agreed upon by both parties. The losing faction shall be disbanded by the opposing faction's leader eternally.

These terms are non-negotionable. The glorious Brotherhood does realise that your faction is currently weak and could not muster a force even ammounting to a fraction of the Brotherhood of Doom's. Therefore, the never-merciful Dark Christ has agreed to allow you to recruit warriors outside of your faction, in order to meet the 5 warrior minimum.

    The BoD's Warriors:

ToroMor, The Christ of Darkness, Bringer of Damnation and Doom
Akira the Giroan Berserker; Seducer of Asian Women; Prince of the North
Purgatory Raven; Prince of the East
    Gaap; Father of all Monsters
Nin`; Sodomizer of Faith, Berzerker of Doom; Belphegor

    The BoD's Reserve Warriors:

Gorath; Devourer of Jap Schoolgirls; Prince of the South
    Wintermetal; Impaler, The Carpathian Wolf
Bloodaxe; Drunken Viking Bastard of the North
Cassuis; Philologus de Fatum et Exitium
Surtur; Pope Surtur - Faustus Lupus-Dominus; Defiler of the nuns

The deadline for the war shall be two weeks. Failure to amass a force within this time will mean a defeat for the Masters faction.

If these terms are not met, the Brotherhood shall accept it as a sign of total and unconditional capitulation, marking the war as another of an infinitely lasting list of victories. Upon the unimpedable victory of our forces, your filthy warriors shall be publicly executed and destroyed for all eternity.

The Brotherhood would like to thank you for your time and wishes you a pleasantly joyful day.

    Sincerest Regards,

Akira, Prince of the North, Vice-Ambassador of the Bastards, Your Future Bitch-Master

    1) Can you actually do that? I really don't think so.
    2) I would gladly take on your entire army alone. I don't mind using other characters but the Masters will not fall.

Well, either way. An RPB challenge isn't really something they "can't do".
The stipulations are harsh, but if you take a look, The Masters was pretty much already dead anyway. They just want to make it "official", so to speak.

Granted, if I paid enough attention, this club would have been closed a few weeks ago. And I don't really think it is wise to just take on all 5 by yourself with 5 different characters.

Although, if the Brotherhood allows, then there's no problem with your doing so.

But I do have to ask, what is the stipulation for victory? 3 out of 5, or all 5 played and the majority wins? I am the judge of this after all.

Quite honestly, I'm not willing to let my brothers fall, as inactive as they may have been. I will take on the Army of the brotherhood alone if no one else will assist me.

As much as I would be gratified to destroy your overly confident ass, the rules stand as was discussed by the BoD spearhead, and so they stay. Besides, it would be no fun to defeat you five times straight. It would just prove that you fit the standard of this faction, which is weak and too pompous for your own damn good. You guys are all talk and no show! We will be proving that in a glorious display of your utter and total defeat. We are so confident that we'll win, that we decided to present these conditions. But then again, we already know you guys will be backing down with petty excuses, trying to cover your absolute fear before the infernal and ever-victorious BoD juggernaught.

You won't defeat me once, nevermind 5 times, fool. You underestimate me. Rules need to bend sometimes, and now is a perfect example. We may not be able to provide 5 warriors, so I can provide 5 myself. Accept that if nothing else. Leave it to the goddamned Brotherhood of Doom to wait until our numbers are short and then present their conditions for war. I will fight. If no one else comes I'll do it alone, no matter what conditions your cowardly "Brotherhood" have set.

Yeah, see.. this is exactly what he's talking about.
You have high confidence, and you do seem somewhat pompous.

And it's not like this is the first time the BOD has challenged the Masters. I think before, it was not fully finished, nor ever even started due to some excuses or inactivity or what have you.

And even if you do fight five times, your skills and creativity and techniques will not change with every battle. It will be the same no matter who you face.

    I've seen your skills. I've seen Gorath's skills. I've seen Akira's skills. I've seen Bryan's skills. I've seen Toromor's skills.

There may be interesting match ups between you, Gorath, Akira, and Bryan.
And you know that it will be close. Right now you think you're better than everyone else and that you'll easily win.

There's really only one way to find out. And with the unchanging rules, well.. you're going to have to recruit four people, or contact some of your fellow members to aid you, or else the club will be closed. (As it should be already anyway.)

Edit: I would also appreciate that this not turn into an insult war. Take it to the battlefield if you must.

Well, as I am still aprt of the Masters, I too will join in this fight...just to make it a little more fair. As for you Akira, what possesses you to challenge a group with such little activity? Are you that weak?

OOC: I was talking in character actually, not implying that I am so much better than everyone else. I am simply just wanting to have some fun on the battlefield. You can't be so sure that my techniques will not change, you have never witnessed me doing something like this before. This is as much a test of my own strengths as it is a challenge.

In character or not, that was totally pompous and arrogant, and you know it. =\
    And I don't see an RP or RPB in this thread, so why are you "in character" anyway? Do you think Akira is speaking "in character"? >.>;

Anyway. I'm not speaking in character or anything. But as said, the rules aren't going to change.

And I don't particularly think that the BOD is weak. They could have challenged any time, but this club has been dead for three whole months.

Even before then, keeping the club active was somewhat difficult. I noticed laps in days, almost a week before people posted sometimes.

Well, anyway, you all have two weeks to find three more people.

(Oooh, it seems the Brotherhood's war challenge is sparking activity.. =P Seems they are not so weak after all. =P)
