We were robbed of Best Club, that's all I can say. At least we all know who really won .

It is officially the 25th of December here in the UK, and I cannot sleep. Some things appear unaffected by season.

So, since most of you are still enjoying your Christmas Eves, I'd like to be the first to wish you all a club-wide merry Christmas. Health, happiness, and luck to you all.

    Have a good 'un, loves.

    Merry Christmas, new club friends.

As soon as the turkey wears off, I think I want to start work on my next RP post. I'm all interested now. So I hope the rest of you find the time again soon. I can't wait to read what other ideas you'll come up with.

I hope all of you got an unreasonable amount of presents and food. Lots of joy and no family arguments.

    I am just incredibly satisfied.
    Curious?

Well, my mother has been attempting to break me, but due to her continuing failed efforts...I'm back!

unfortunately I've been slacking on a story, since I can't seem to settle on a train of thought for an idea, though I think i almost have a main character planned. Basically i've settled into my old freakishly intense reading habits.

In the past few weeks, since I've been, or what's the word? oh yeah "grounded", I've had nothing else to do during the day except read, and watch TV. Naturally, I opted to read. I've read approximately 2700 pages in the past ten days, and that's not counting the extra work i'm doing in chemistry so that I don't fail the second time around, nor the parts of the bible that i read, since I forgot roughly how many pages there were in the books of Genesis and Matthew, and half of Mark.

    Boredom and free time...
Well it's a rarer thing for me, but I laze around and do things such as playing video games, watching movies, reading the occasional book. Oh and there's the net too if I need it. Most times I log in on purpose though. Many real lifers, and many net peeps to MSN.

    And sometimes I just train...
Habit I got into. Some barbells, some situps/push ups...
    All good.

Well, I think I'm a perfect person to ask about that.

Having ADD, I'm bored rather often, and I don't typically find normal things to do. For instance, I was forced to go shopping today, and I spent over a half hour changing the order of everything in the random departments. Nearly got kicked out of the store for it.

Otherwise, I do things like read, write, rewrite html code (that one kind of surprizes people for some reason...), playing random games, or attempting to break, fix, or manipulate whatever worthless item is closest to me.

Or, if all else fails, daydreaming is always good.

I'm a dreamer. Sometimes I daze off in blank space. Sometimes I think about how bored I am and how I just wanna do something fun. Other time, I usually watch T.V, go
on Myspace, reading, or go outside and go on a jog. Boredom can lead to many things for me. Sometimes, when my friends and I are bored like desperately we just act stupid and say dumb stuff that we would never laugh at when we're not bored. >< Only times I'm bored when I have no one to talk to or nothing really interests me. Boredom bites.

If I'm bored, I'll play the Sims or watch TV or something stupid like that until said activity guilt trips me into doing something more productive. TFF too.

I like to write when I have free time.

I am also the world's best procrastinator and napper. I'm way cool, you know? Not really. I'm quite dazed just now and I can't see properly. No, I'm not drunk. I just got back to Aberdeen and I got fagash in my eye at the bus stop because the weather is AWFUL.

Is everybody else, generally speaking, starting more EDUCATIONAL FUN next week or soon after, then? Thoughts/feelings? You could even branch out into the issue of the school system and conformity if you've got time enough and nothing better to do

    Cheerio loves.

I've a lot to report. Suppose I should make tracks to my journal rather than here, but I don't feel up to it just now.

    Writing Contest:

Obviously we're not all ready for the judging just yet. So how about a postponement? Anyone in favor? Thought so. Somebody suggest a new deadline and we'll go from there. I REALLY don't want to leave this brilliant contest by the wayside.

    RP:

I originally thought that we could spin the plot as we went but recent stumbling blocks have made it apparent we need a clearer strategy. So my next post which should be forthcoming will give the RP some more general direction. Hopefully it will salvage. It would be a big plus if this club completed an RP to save in the annals of TFF history. For posterity sake.

I've got a new gig and very soon must make my way back to Uni. It seems like such a short period of time. Almost unfair, really. I've applied for the same roommate. This will be my second-to-last year. So close...*shivers*

I might be internet-less in a week or so for an unspecified period of time. At which point our Thane(Govinda) will take the reigns. Can't say as I'm feeling too well at the moment. lol. Sick, ya know?

BTW, for those who know Olivia...She and I are...back...I guess. Anyway, it's a good thing, I think. Guess I have to be nice to her in Ann's coming RP .

Anyway, when I get the time and the inclination, most likely this weekend, I shall update my stupid journal...

I hope everybody else is doing well. Now to the discussion:

Being strange, what weird habits do you seem to form when faced with long term boredom, or just whenever you have free time?
    One of five past times:

I usually end up strung-out laying on my red fuzzy wall-to-wall carpet listening to my bands with a drink handy.

Clubbing round town and socializing with other darklings.

On my bed reading books, usually over philosophy or eastern history.

Taking a long hot bath, meditating with a cup of tea and some ambience.

Or on here either typing posts, writing or chatting on msn. Which, lately, hasn't been done very much, I must admit.

Aye. I need to post up my RP character soon and catch up on that. I'm a little behind on what's been going on in the club. I'll also PM you the poem I have said I would do a while back.

Its also good to see you again man. I was wondering where you had gone. Get on MSN more!

BTW, there was a writing contest? What was that about?

    Hello.

Why do you think you are unique? - I've found that alot of things about me are fairly unique. Of course, no interest is truly 'unique' but I believe the combination of things that interest me and the things I do are fairly uncommon. The way I dress is completely unique. If I don't make my own clothes I modify those which already exist.

What talents separate you from others? Be advised that I'm only looking for unique talents - I don't think so much my talents are unique as are the things I do within them.. I like to think that my writing is quite unique, along with my artwork. Also, my clothes. I've been told I have a knack and putting very unique clothes together.

Has anyone ever referred to you as different/strange/weird/freak/insane?
Constantly. My parents, those around me, friends and even just people that I've never met. I get called this by passers-by because of how I dress or what I'm reading/listening to/buying in a store.

How do you deal with the rest of the world, being so absurdly different as you are? - I'm an uncannily polite person. I'm very, very attatched to my manners, which gets me by. Even if people are scared away by how I look, they're usually fine when they see how I talk to them, or if I open the door for them/help carry their bags etc.

What title would you select to describe yourself, which we may refer to you openly?(NOTE: Please be unique)
Let me think about this one.

You're totally in. Welcome to the Theatre, Vampiric Delirium.

Night Shade, we need to chat more often. Pretty soon my internet activity is going to skyrocket as soon as the semester starts in...

As for the writing contest. All members are invited to write a story pertaining to the subject of the club(abnormal or going against established norms) which will be submitted to the forum to judge based on quality of writing style, plot and dialogue ect... It was supposed to be due on New Years but that didn't work out.

If you want to participate then there's no problem; we're going to set it back anyway, I think...

    Thank you, Sinister.

    Now; this.

Being strange, what weird habits do you seem to form when faced with long term boredom, or just whenever you have free time?

Alot of things, really. Yesterday my boredom drove me to radically modify some clothes. I own four T-shirts now, and as you may have guessed I am not really a T shirt person.. Three of the four I have are rather cute, though. They feature dead animals.. Much nicer than it sounds.

    The one I bought -

    http://www.digitalstores.co.uk/skela...JNoi1qN3IEb-14

Now, I shall vaguely show you in MS Paint what I've done to it..

    http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/c...ket/skeled.jpg

That is black lace on the kitty there, but it isn't layed flat. I've sewn on a bunch of upright layers to give a ruffled effect.

I really don't like having the same thing as other people.

    Other things when I'm bored...

I do love to read. Usually something like Ann Rice, Darren Shan, one of the many versions of 'Dracula', Scott Westerfeld, Stephen King or Gary Crew. I'm also reading "The Dreaming" at the moment, a great horror manga by Queenie Chan. Only published Aussie manga ever.

I do love to listen to music. Lately it's Emilie Autumn, Cruxshadows, The Dresden Dolls, The "Queen of the Damned" soundtrack, Depeche Mode, Hannah Fury and MyLucina.

Or I come here. If the computer isn't inhabited by my family.

Dammit! I couldn't give you rep for your amazing taste in music and literature.

Weird how we both like the same sort, wouldn't you say?

Anyway, adding black lace to that T is excellent. I wish I could say I was talented enough to do something like that. But to be honest...not much of a seamster. Only good enough to save a garment but not enough to improve it...

Glad to have you in the Theatre, Vamp.

Welcome Ms. Delerium! Another great TFFer among our ranks.

I just wanted to say something about the story thing (as well as saying hi to the newest oddball). Shall we set a new deadline, say...after the January exams? I don't know if Americans have exams in January. I only have 2 and they'll be over after the 15th (HOW COOL IS THAT), so if nobody else has any, then would...the end of January be okay?

Or maybe we could set a deadline for Love Day just because it's a day with a name. Or just have a if-you-could-be-finished-by-March-it-would-be-cool relaxed thing. Thoughts?

We don't have exams...at least, I don't. Nothing rigorously scheduled, anyway. But those dates sound good to me. So love-day or the end of January. Either works for me... Anyone else?

I have exams but it shouldn't be an issue. Heh. I'm still in high school but we get half days during exams so they divide it up for us to have more study time.

Yeah. I love Stephen King's works. Salem's Lot is a personal favorite of mine. Have you heard of the "Vampire Diaries"? Its a good book. I got it today from a friend and wow, this book is awesome. I'm not even done with the book and I just got into it earlier. >< Its like a horror/romance kinda novel though. Its really good.

    And welcome to the club!

Squishie - Thanks. I read one of them I think, yeah. I'm actually not a massive fan, I must admit. It's just a bit too.. Normal? Little too much of a Typical vampire book for me. Doesn't feel like anything new, you know? I mean, it's okay.. Just not my kind of thing.

Sinister - Thanks. I'm not particularly talented at it either, But gathering the ends of sleeves with elastic and sewing bits of lace on really isn't hard in any way ><. And if you use black thread, it can afford to be messy with lace. You can't really see a thing.

It is quite unusual that we have such similar tastes in music. Great minds think alike? XD.

Govinda - Thank joo. And I've no idea what's going on [Miss Froggie needs to do some backreading.], but those dates sound fine to me? ><.

Oh! Has anybody here heard of Stephanie Dosen? Somebody recommended her to me. She's apparently Ethereal. I found an interview. Sounds a little insane =P. "I write my music for my ghosts". But interesting, so I'll probably end up downloading a bit. Anybody heard of her?

I've never heard of your lady m'dear, but you've given me an idea...

Ever notice how most 'strange' people tend to listen to some variation of rock music? Please tell me if I've just been hanging around with a bubble of weird rock-type fans and have missed a point. But anyway, have you noticed that?

While we're on that subject...music's always a good thing to talk about. I'm loving this lady at the moment. The very end of that song is brilliant.

    Night night loves

I clicked that link there, haha. She's certainly.. Different, isn't she? In a good way though, haha.

I do see what you mean by alot of the 'different types' listening to rock or more rock-based things. Rarely you see one of us tuning into a bubblegum pop station ><. I used to listen to alot more rock than I do now, though. Alot of what I listen to is somewhat gothic, and a fair bit of Dark Wave or ethereal lately.

People, you -have- to try listening to Hannah Fury. She's simply.. Perfect. It's gorgeous music. The lyrics are slightly sinister.. But wow.. Nothing like her around, ever. I could only find one YouTube clip [she's a bit underground..] of her and that's the linky with her name there. Try it out.

EDIT - Found this.. It's one of her actual clips, with her singing and that. So.. Yeah. Maybe watch this?

I have noticed the whole rock thing... And some seem to like classical.
I'm not that big a fan of most classical songs, but ones such as this one are awesome to listen to... That Wagner was one hell of a composer...
And that link also has an interesting accompanying clip.

Apart from that, I personally like some genres such as grunge that haven't been as popular in very recent years (though pretty much everyone knows Nirvana and the like) and whatever I like the sound of when I hear it somewhere. Something I noticed was that a band I like, deftones, is basically unheard of by many hear, yet I heard from someone in the US refer to deftones as 'mallcore' suggesting it's played in malls and stuff. If that happened here I'd be damned surprised...

But then most parts here are stuck in 'dance', 'pop' and 'emo-rock'...
Some shops still play those old Venga Boys songs that make you want to rip your head from your neck with a rusty shovel.

I'll give any music a go, really. Favourite genres though.. Probably include:

Dark Wave [I'm not dressing that way, just listening to it..], Synth Pop, Violindustrial, Fantasy Rock, Ethereal, Gothic rock, Dark Caberet,

[Now I can't be bothered with links...]

Also Rockabilly, New Romantic, Industrial, and EBM. But I'll listen to bits of acid punk and pop, some indie.. ETC. I'll try almost anything. I like alot of older music, also.

And Deftones are mallcore now? XD. They tend to play Celine Dion and Delta Goodrem.. Nice sweet female artists that won't hurt kiddies ears ^^. Haha.

I do hate the limit of genres.. You hear people talk about "Pop, Rock, Emo, Punk, Goth, Indie, Country, Metal"... Totally unaware that there are about a hundred different sub-types of each.

Very true, Vamp. The "genre" of Goth alone has so many different sounds and variations it would make your ears bleed. The ancient goth like Andrew Eldritch. There's Darkwave ala Faith and the Muse. There's Industrial. There's Ethereal. There's Goth Metal. blah blah blah blah... And Tao knows that's just one.

Celtic, I love the Valkyrie hotdogs... Eventhough Wagner and I don't typically care much for eachother. I always laugh when I hear ride of the Valkyries. Think of pink exploding bunnies because of an old Lucasarts game called Full Throttle...eh...nvrmnd...

As far as people like us liking similar music... Based on current evidence that this club supplies, I'd have to agree. I'm big on Bowie, Nirvana AND Cruxshadows. And somehow I don't know if any of us here are big Britney Spears fans... But I imagine that that too, has it's limits.

Mk.. You're all gonna bad rep me now...

    I love Britney :x

Seriously. I own her greatest hits album, and One of the other ones.. *forgetful*... That one where she did that collaboration with Madonna? The album that features that song.. I have that.

I know, people call her music basic plastic dance pop... But honestly.. It's unique. There's nothing else out there like it, however mainstream it appears. She put that distinctive plastic pop sound on the map.

I like her alot too because she [in music sence] isn't trying to be something she's not. She's not a popper trying to be punk or a pop-rocker trying to be emo. She's pop-dance and she knows it. And she's good at it.

    ..Leave Britney alone!!

I think that I have a really varied taste in music. I listen to most genres. I attempted looking up some of the bands CD's I've bought from eBay, Amazon and the like and a lot of it is so rare, you'd never even hear of it.

I listen to a lot of different genres in metal mostly, though.

This is Xasthur. Never mind the terrible video, as it sucks. Didn't even watch it the whole way through.
    http://nz.youtube.com/watch?v=KwcMGo...eature=related
Xasthur's D/SBM, with drone, as you can hear it.

If slow dragging music isn't of interest, I enjoy Hypocrisy, as well.
This is medolic death metal. http://nz.youtube.com/watch?v=q9Uwa453gHQ
Another shite video, but it's cute how men think headbanging in unison is "awesome". Poor gits. Wonder if they looked back and saw how wankerish they looked.

Non-metal artists that I enjoy are vast in amount, too, but I won't post any for now.

    rofl...

    omg

That's right. I forgot. Hmm. Well, even I like Enya and Eminem. But...Britney that's just...erm...ahem. A unique taste. But everybody has an artist or two like that. If it makes you feel better, and believe me it should, I like Styx.

You like Britney, Vamp? Excellent! I've never met anyone else who says that. I think most are too embarrased to. Good show.

I listen to lots of stuff. I like my classic rock - Bowie, Zep, that lot. I also really like 1970's ska punk, ala Ian Dury and the Blockheads. And Wreckless Eric because he's fun.

Just now I'm getting into more modern music. The Be Good Tanyas are brilliant; Cat Power is lovely; and Feist is just excellent. She's got a bit more popular lately because one of her songs was in an ipod advert or something...so a bunch of people bought The Reminder and only listen to the first track on it. And of course, my lady Regina!

I also like 90's Britrock quite a lot. early Oasis, Kula Shaker, that crew. Pulp a lot. A few Blur songs. Loudon and Martha Wainwright are brilliant: here's my favourite song of all time, sung by Martha.

Chez, Xasthur make me sad . Or is that the point?

Wellll I'm just gonna hop on in here and state the kinds of music I like... for being a member of this club, I'm such a comformist aren't I?

Anyway; I like many different genres of music. Some I do not like, however, are rap, heavy metal [including death metal, etc...] annnd.... that's all I can think of. I've just really never liked the sound of pots and pans banging together and that's what metal reminds me of... as for rap, it's all about sex, money, and drugs... lmfao.

I'm more into synth-pop and electronica, techno, house, dance, industrial, cyber- etc...

A few of my favorite artists are: Tempo Shark, Freezepop, Ayria, The Knife, Sissy, Thompson Twins, Garbage, Combichrist, Rotersan, VNV Nation, and on and on.

I do love other kinds of music though, such as Lifehouse, Googoo Dolls, Nickelback, Matchbox Twenty, Avril, The Spice Girls.

    I know, how strange?

Well that was my little jump-in y'all.

PS: We got an area rug for our apartment, and our living room ACTUALLY looks very nice and clean and such. I'll take and post some pictures if anyone wants to see! Otherwise I'm really a living statue. :3

The heart is nature's metronome, it counts seconds into miliseconds and even smaller. It beats with time, perpetually; how such a calculating organ became the symbol of love is a mystery to me.

Britney was the first CD I bought on my own. That song uh... Slave? For you? Never got into that one. But the CDs before that made me kind of happy.

Regina one artist I wish I were into, but I'm just not. I even listen to similar artists. I think my neighbor last year ruined her by playing Fidelity over and over again while I was trying to nap.

My taste in music can hardly be called bizarre in the way everyone else's is. I do tend to enjoy certain alternative or indie bands, if you want to describe them that way. I like ska music, but one of my complaints about it is that a lot of the vocals suck. I've heard several ska bands that catch my attention with the instrumental stuff but as soon as they start singing, I lose interest.

Bluegrass is a guilty pleasure of mine. I'm from the South, I grew up around it. Fiddles make me incredibly happy.

Bluesy stuff is appreciated... older music... I'm kind of all over the place. But I think everyone says that. I'd link you guys to something but it's time for class.
    Curious?

Alisyn, I think you'd love the Be Good Tanyas. They're kind of country, yet just lovely. If you've already clicked the link up there ignore this, but if you didn't have time, I ask you to. I think you'd love them.

Fidelity drives me up the wall too. It's one of her crappiest songs, I think...it's just all...weird. She's capable of things so much less annoying.

The first CD I eve bought was B*Witched!'s album...their only album...Christ...

You thought Bleak Necrotic Paleness was depressing? Try Summon The End Of Time. I remember feeling like shit the first time I heard it.
Again, another shite video made by a newb to the depressive black metal scene. I couldn't stomach the whole thing. I did see some interesting pictures, but a lot of it was your everyday "hi, is it black metal to write some of the worst Sargeist lyrics to a Xasthur song?" I also saw some pictures of "death"... Haha, it's funny really, a lot of people rip fake death photos off. Some succeed in making it look pretty interesting, but other times, it's a bit shite like in this case.

    The whole CD of this Xasthur album is impressive. Here's Summon The End Of Time;

EDIT: LAWL! He even tagged it as Satanic. How precious. *Wipes away mocking tear.*

It's not really supposed to make you feel anything. Sometimes it does have that effect. Especially to people when they first hear it.

As for annoying pop music... It doesn't really interest me. I did find Amy Winehouse's Rehab song annoyingly catchy the first few times. I'm sure if I dug out my old CD's, I'd find old pop music I have that I still find interesting, but for the most-part, I've forgotten about it.

Emiliana Torrini, anyone? Not pop, though. Alternate music with old western influences. Some of it's similar to Bjork. Gotta love Bjork.

P.S, loving Alisyn's new avatar and tag. Really different, really interesting.
