    Crimson Moon

    Crimson Moon

Step into the land of the night. At first glance, you see an empty, silent place. But take a deeper look, and you will find a world of creatures that thrive in the darkness. They are the very epitome of fear, and in some cases, obsession. If you’ve ever felt yourself intrigued by these creatures, then you’ve clicked on the right thread. Crimson Moon is a haven for lovers of vampires and/or werewolves. If you are such a person, then we welcome you.

    Purpose
The purpose of Crimson Moon is to unite lovers of vampires and werewolves in a variety of activities.

    To Join
Simply choose whether you would like to be a vampire or a werewolf. Do not join simply to take part in the RPB feature.

I would also like prospective members to have a minimum post count of 50.

    Activities
Activities in this club range from discussions to contests. One of our main focuses is the discussion of vampires and werewolves- whether it be thoughts on a particular series or on traditional legends themselves. We will also plan out contests, role-plays, role-play battles, and a variety of other things.

    Active Discussions
The active discussions taking place within the most recent pages of the club. I will try to keep this list as current as possible.
What draws you to vampires/werewolves? Can you remember what first got you into them?
What do you believe is the best interpretation of a vampire and/or werewolf? Be it book, film, site, etc.

    Active Role-plays

    Surveys/Quizzes/Polls
Crimson Moon will sometimes hold polls regarding the club’s focus. Answering these polls is entirely optional, but reading people’s opinions on such matters can prove interesting. Questions will be made by myself, the pack leader, and the senate. Surveys and Quizzes can be submitted by any member of the club.

Members are welcome to review books, games, movies, etc. that involve vampires or werewolves. If you disagree with a review, write a review with your opinion, don’t just bash other people’s views.
    None

    Recommendation List
Members are encouraged to recommend various types of media regarding the club’s focus to the other members. If you make a recommendation, please include at least a paragraph of intelligent explanation as to why you are recommending it.
    Blood and Chocolate, the book

    Club Role-Play Battles
It is common knowledge that many different vampire and werewolf lore have the two mythical creatures struggle over something, and so will we. After choosing your group, you will have the option of creating an RPB character. Bear in mind that this character must reflect the group that you are in. After we have enough members interested in this feature, you may challenge a member from the other group. RPB rankings will be decided according to who wins these matches. If you would like to challenge someone from your own group, you can also vie for the title of champion of your group. Members participating in the RPB feature will have their names in the members list as a link. This link will lead you to their RPB character. If you wish to have more than one RPB character for the club, then please edit your second/third characters into the same post as your first.

All club fights (fights between two charaters from this club) will be opened by Toph and myself. Our posts will merely detail who is allowed to post in the thread, and the post limit on the thread.

The minimun and default post limit is ten (five per person), but if you want to have more than that then feel free. All you have to do is speficy that information before the thread is created. No time limits will be put in place.

Also, if there is a specific title you would like to use, then submit it to either Toph or myself and we will include it in the title.

    Challenge Requests
itachi Uchiha is reqesting an opponent.

Yes, you're wrong. It has been stated before that the club is not invite only. I don't know where you got that it was. It's not. But anyway, I'm a vampire girl myself.

Well draco, like Toph said, this isn't an invite only club. If you meet the requiremnts, you can just post in the thread asking to join. So, I'll add you to the members list as a werewolf, then?

I'll go ahead and start our first discussion. One fitting for the beginning of the thread.

What draws you to vampires/werewolves? Can you remember what first got you into them?

    I've had a fascination with vampires for as long as I can rememember. I never really did like werewolves as much, but I still think they're cool. As for what draws me to them? I guess its the idea of being something that's different. They look human, and yet they aren't. It's probably something to do with the blood as well. And the fangs. It's just plain cool. ^^;

Sorry my reasoning is a little lacking at the moment. ^^; I've only got a few minutes to type this out.

Why, excellent to see our club is up. Hello all fellow members.

What draws you to vampires/werewolves? Can you remember what first got you into them?

Difficult questions for me personally to answer. I've never been obsessed with anything more than things macabre. My father was a psychologist and I simply became fascinated with death and pathology. I've seen things that would truly disturb most people, including witnessing, in a standing-room only, an autopsy.

But that apart. I spent quite a few years of my childhood in a Catholic private school. There, I stayed in the library reading every horror book and macabre manual they could offer. I bought books, traded them, obsessed over them.

It was natural that I like vampires. They're the next step above humans. I was always arrogant, even as a kid. I wanted to distinguish myself from the hicks that seemed to be everywhere in those days. Morons that could not speak simple English or read a book but could tell you how it was. They disgusted me.

Everything I had seen of vampires were very upper class. The middle man and proletariat were so far beneath the vampire that he noticed them like I would notice ants.

Needless to say, I have matured since then and no longer share those views. But my love of Vampires never really gave out. They hold their dignity, intelligence and unquestionable superiority with such poise that they transcend charisma.

Well this is my first post in this club as a member and thanks for accepting me.

What draws you to Vampires/werewolves? Can you remember what first got you into them?

Well when I was little I always heard legends about Vampires and werewolves. The storys about the Vampires I did not really like to much because one you could only go out at night and two you had to be bitten to become one and that just sounds painful.

The story about the werewolves was awsome because one they were able to transform the bad thing about that was that it was only on fulmoons. and two like the vampires their speed and streanght is increased. Well I guess that answers both questions.

Oh and a question of my own are we allowed to start another disscusion during yours? The answer to this would help me alot.

Yes you can start one, but that would make the club die that much quicker.

And your tales about vampires is only one of the many versions of myths and lore about them. The ones you describe about going out only at night, are undead vampires in my eyes. I prefer Kim Harrison's views on vampires and werewolves.

There are Living vampires, and Undead vampires. Living vampires can worship without consequence and can walk about during the day. Undead, however, can only go out during the night. Werewolves can were even when it's not the full moon.

YAY you posted the club!! I'm so excited to see how this turns out.

    What draws you to vampires/werewolves?

I'd have to say it's how dangerous and alluring they are. Love between a human and werewolf/vampire has always appealed to me, since humans are so fragile to them.. it makes it all the more enticing.

Can you remember what first got you into them?

For werewolves, it was the book Blood and Chocolate. I don't recall being as interested in them before I read it. I was 13 at the time and it's still a good book, imo. The movie butchered it though.. do NOT watch the Blood and Chocolate movie. If you have, then you know my pain.

As for vampires, I'd have to say Queen of the Damned.. which is also a movie that butchered the novel, or so I've heard. I was like.. 12 when I first watched it. My other two favorite vampire movies were Interview With the Vampire and Bram Stoker's Dracula starring Gary Oldman. I'm a fan of vampires AND werewolves, but I have to say.. werewolves are cuddlier ^^.

Oh, and I would like to make a recommendation for Blood and Chocolate, THE BOOK.

It is a book designed for teenagers. Those interested in Twilight may like it MORE than Twilight, as it's not ridiculously long. It's about a 16 year old female werewolf who's pack is trying to blend in with humans in order to make a living without being hunted. They are in need of a leader and Vivian, the main character, falls in love with a human boy(which creates conflict). The ending has a twist to it. The characters are enjoyable, and there is plenty of humor, violence, and romance. It's a must read for avid werewolf fans.

Count me in as a werewolf.

    What draws you to vampires/werewolves?

For me personally... their enhanced skills, the power and mystery associated with them, their often tortured characters in the books I've read...
    Stuff like that.

I prefer werewolves as I feel like I'm more alike one than a vampire and as I've felt more familiar to them I often find myself wishing them a victory or my best wishes. I remember in Morrowind I set out purposefully trying to become a werewolf in the GOTY edition. I became a Druid in Diablo 2 as he could change into a wolf of sorts. I just admire their strength, ferocity and ability to rely on their bestial instincts, all of which I can too if the need arises.

I also like how they're often portrayed as greater than human as opposed to most of the unknown which is often inferior. It just sets them apart...

Can you remember what first got you into them?

Most likely books that I read when younger as well as a few movies. Later on the video games... Despite personally preferring werewolves, Bram Stoker's Dracula is a favourite read of mine and I do have a rather elaborate hardback copy.

Draco, someone can't just "Put a spot in" for you. You have to sign up for the RP, and if you're good enough, your profile is approved, and you just start posting. That's how it works around here.

Nice to see that the clubs up and running Xeim. Seems like its already becoming popular. I think I'll join the vampires if that’s ok. As for the question.

What draws you to vampires/werewolves? Can you remember what first got you into them?

I can't remember exactly what got me into either of these creatures but I'm sure its roots can be found in Halloween for me. I used to love it when I was a kid and always was one or the other (Although plastic fangs are annoying ^^;;. Now through reading and films, my interest has only grown with what I find. For vampires themselves, The Saga of Darren Shan is probably is what provokes my fascination the most. The way he portrayed them was different to previous ideas. Although they didn't that their usual aristocratic feel, he still held the mystery and magnificence that was them.

I realize that I do not yet have a post count of fifty; however I'm sure that you will find I am quite suitably adept at forum operation to still be accepted. If indeed Xeim still chooses to make me wait, that is fine; but it is a choice for Xeim and Xeim alone.

If in fact I am accepted, I shall choose to be a werewolf. I will proceed to contribute to the first discussion, and if I am in fact 'booted' (if you will) feel free to disregard my response.

What draws you to vampires/werewolves? Can you remember what first got you into them?

I must say the driving force that keeps me attached to werewolves, vampires, and other creatures of the like, would be my sense of creativity. As an artist, I imagine and draw some pretty interesting pieces. I find the supernatural to be a fantastic model of excellent character creation, and I admire all things supernatural for that reason. The werewolf with it's hidden power, the vampire with it's thirst for blood; all supernatural creatures have characteristics that intrigue me.
What first got me into the supernatural.... I honestly find trouble discerning one specific moment above the rest. As a child I read a series of books called 'Bunnicula' which was kind of a humourus Dracula spoof for elementary children; I also watched the show 'Big Wolf on Campus' when I was younger, which was about a boy who used his werewolf powers for good. Both of these examples are certainly not 'gems' by any means of the werewolf/vampire universe, but they are contributing factors to my development. I suppose the most obvious factor that drew me to them is the outright fascination I have always had with the supernatural. I was always curious about what could be out there, watching all of the shows on television about ghost stories and legends.

That pretty well sums it up!

The post count is mostly to keep noobs who are just going to disappear off the face of the earth within a day or so out of the club. But I've seen you around, and I'll go ahead and let you in. Don't make me regret my decision by never posting, though. =P

    Also, welcome Itachi and Silver.

Heh this club is really good and so I ask to join. Sign me up, if you will, as a werewolf, the moonlit hunter, the silent stalker

What draws you to vampires/werewolves? Can you remember what first got you into them?

Unfortunately I can't remember what got me into them specifically, it was probably just a growing interest from multiple sources coupled with my love of mythos and legend. But why choose the werewolf over the vampire, is it the graceful beauty of the running wolf? Or maybe the unrestrained power and ferocity that it can command? For me I think it is the freedom of being able to shapeshift into an entirely new creature (Yes I know a vampire can do that too) coupled with the joy of the pack and the two points I mentioned earlier
Vampires never really appealed to me because they always seemed incomplete and alone

Read some of my stuff here
    http://thefinalfantasy.net/forum...-snippets.html

    The Gargoyle
    SPOILER!!:

    The gargoyle sits, solemnly, alone
    That silent man of stone
Here, for his deeds he must atone

    Beaten eyes stare blankly
    Withered arms curved and wrinkly
    Bat-like wings spread fully

For once he was a man deceitful
His soul decored in black so hateful
From his despair grew pain most vengeful

With his death he was deserted
    Left condemned and desecrated
    Bound to form most understated

And now he is but a statue made of stone
    Sitting all alone

    Star Gaze
    SPOILER!!:
High in the sky, blinking down on us
    We all watch the stars
    Believing, as we do
That friends and lovers long since moved away are staring upwards too
Remembering us as we remember them
Smiling in the light of an unatainable star
And even if the star was snuffed out at that very moment
    We would never know
    We just keep smiling
And believe the star is true

    My TFF Family
(is laughably small because 'loner' turned out to be fairly accurate)
    Unknown-Entity - loner-kid's hilarious 'friend'
    Raider - my ginger brother

Well Xeim looks like your discussion is dieing so if it is alright with you I would like to start a new on and if you do not like it than tell me and I will delete it. Alrighty than lets get started. My dicussion is about different web sites.

What is your favorite vampire/werewolve website?

Well that is hard for me to say. Well if I had to choose the two I would say the site that Unknown entity showed me earlier today. It has RPs and RPBS I think and It is way active. It is called Vaperida I think and it is eally cool the other one of my favorites is Vampires.nu. Its a ool site not that active and No RPs or RPBs but it give you lots of facts about vampires.

Well hope this disscusion turns out good. I realy like this club and I do not want it to die.

I wouldn't really say her discussion is dying. It's more of a discussion to talk about when someone new joins. Besides, I haven't really talked about the topic yet either. And there are only so many members in this club. One of them have yet to even post in this thread.

Now. Xeim's topic: What got me into Vampires had started way back when I heard about them in the traditional lore. They were always portrayed as very sexy and manipulative; which are two of my very own personality traits.

Kim Harrison's world of the Hollows pretty much had me fallen in love with Vampires. If you ask me, I prefer Vampires from the "Hollows" world than any other kind of vampire.

As far as draco's topic: I have no idea what kind of websites there are about them besides wikipedia, as I don't really go looking.

And this club as just barely freaking started. It's not going to die any time soon. Geez. Don't get your panties in a bunch. We really shouldn't have a topic for EVERY single post. Otherwise the club will run out of steam that much quicker. It's okay to talk about non-vamp/wolf things once in a while.

What is your favorite vampire/werewolve website?

I'd probably also be most likely to say Wikipedia. Most of the interesting stuff seems to be found in books, especially the rarer finds with more localised stories. I tend to find most websites tend to stick with the view of their creator moreso than books seem to, and decided on wikipedia as it shows it's sources for most things. Easily checkable.

I think Draco’s question isn’t well picked since I doubt many of us go looking on the net for vampires or werewolves. So if everyone doesn’t mind I think a better question is needed.

What do you believe is the best interpretation of a vampire and/or werewolf? Be it book, film, site, etc.

Overall, to include both, my favourite view of both these creatures has to be in the film Underworld. It does show what my typical idea of what they are and it’s carried on well onto the modern day. Vampires being very aristocratic through the heavily gothic theme and life style whilst the werewolves are more ravenous and rough in their appearance and manner.

Individually though for vampires I’d have to look towards the series of books ‘The Saga of Darren Shan’. The way he describes them is unique in its way with the abilities they display and the shift in their life style. For those who have not read them, these vampires still have the common things such as drink blood but sunlight doesn’t instantly kill them. Other old ideas like garlic and holy relics don’t harm them either. They are just more durable than the average human. There are other things that I could mention but I’d be rambling then.

The way it shows them though is in a far older way. They are not technologically advanced even in the modern environment and keep to the old ways. They are a proud, warrior race that enjoys training and battle. But even some still keep that superior air about them whilst others are more normal to say the least.

I'd have to say that my favorite interpretation with vampires is Anne Rice's.They were very elegant and charming, as well as extremely dangerous. I didn't exactly like the whole weakness to sunlight thing, but it made it interesting.

My favorite werewolf interpretation would be Blood and Chocolate, the book. They weren't just some wild animal, but quite humane as well. I hate it when movies make werewolves act like wild beasts that have no sort of reasoning. They're usually depicted as evil when they're just as intelligent as any vampire. The only real difference they have with vampires is that they don't need to live off of blood and they can't exactly always blend in with humans. That's only if you're looking at the typical versions of both species, though.

    ...I pretty much already answered that topic in my post already. Sorry. >_>;

But to reiterate; The "Hollows" world is where I would like to live. I love Ivy so much, I would make her mine. Haha.

Hey Xeim, this looks like quite the interesting club, being a vampire and werewolf lover myself I would more than gladly like to join.

What draws you to vampires/werewolves? Can you remember what first got you into them?

I can't remember how I first got into vampires and werewolves, I suppose it has always been a subject I enjoyed. I suppose the thought of life after death and transformation into something which symbolizes sheer power has always been a strong attraction for me. Also, I suppose the underlying sexual nature of vampires is one of the factors which attracts me towards vampires more than werewolves.

What do you believe is the best interpretation of a vampire and/or werewolf? Be it book, film, site, etc.

Best interpretation... uh huh. There has been many different interpretations of both creatures. I find the most recent and modern interpretations to be the most appealing. Take "Van Helsing" 's take on the werewolf. Instead of a simple transition into the werewolf, the flesh of the human is torn away to reveal the werewolf. A representation of the beast within. "Underworld" 's take on vampires is also one of the most appealing representations. For the most part, they look nearly identical to humans. No special transformation into a bat or whatever. Plus they use guns, nothing special. The "Blade" series take on vampires isn't as appealing as "Underworld". The thing is, those vampires for the most part aren't anything special.

Well uhm, the manga Vampire Knight. I've always liked the "living vampires." Burning up in the sun has always seemed fairly silly to me.

The vampires in Vampire Knight have their own special little social pyramid. From lowest class to highest class:

Level D:Former humans. They are lower than the low. They slowly lose their sanity and and begin to indiscriminately kill humans. At this point, they fall outside the pyramid and are referred to as "Level E, or Level End." These vampires are 'overseen' by aristocrat and above level vampires.

Level C: Common vampires. Just your everyday vamp. Were never human, but may have human ancestors.

Level B: Aristocrats. Part of the ruling class of vampires, and make up most of the series' cast. Aristocrats are powerful vampires, and some even have special abilities. One character has explosive blood, another freezes things when he gets mad...

Level A: Purebloods. They have no traces of human blood anywhere. There aren't many of them, and only two or three have been introduced into the series so far. Purebloods are the only vampires with the ability to change humans into vampires. If a pureblood bites a human but does not kill them, the human becomes a level D. These vampires are greatly respected due to their rank. Obviously, part of the ruling class.

Anyway, the vampire characters in this series have also taken a vow not to bite humans. Hah. Instead they use "blood tablets," or capsules of blood that they dissolve into a drink and then, well, drink.

They can go out during the day, and many are seen walking about at such hours.

    As for werewolves, I pretty much just like the traditional views. Full Moon, tranforming due to being bitten... But I haven't really read or seen a lot with anything other than the traditional views, so... ^^;

    And there you have it. My long-winded explanation. ^^;

Also, welcome loner-kid and Evangel. Evangel, should I add you in as a vampire or a werewolf? You appear to be drawn to vampires more, but I still have to check.

Dracula, Carmilla, Vampyre. Any of those books that came before Ann Rice concreted the vampire as a creature that cannot behold sunlight or they will dissolve. Which according to a great number of the original folkloric legends, is spurious and false.

That is not to say I dislike Ann Rice's work, but it is not necessarily a faithful interpretation of a Vampire.

I can understand the not beholding sunlight or else they'll die, but... that should only fall under the "Undead" vampires. Those I can understand the lack of sunlight thing, and it makes more sense that way.

Actually no you didn't answer in your last post. You only did your own topic. You just talked about what sites you liked; not what interpretation of vampires/werewolves you preferred over any other. It's a totally different thing. =\

    Wait, can't use any popular media characters? What's the point of the contest then? >_>;
The banners will be boring and dull if we can't use everything at our disposal. D:
    Not like I was planning on using something like that anyway. >_>;
