I will be leaving the forum for an undefined time. Browsing the forums the other night my computer conracted a virus, and ironically it came froman antivirus software corp. and wouldnt leave 'till I bought the product. So, I will not be using this forum until I get my computer better equipped for an attack or until you guys get the whole Virus Banner issue solved. Most of you were pleasant to me, so thanks for great times. I regret leaving but I fear I must.

AVG is free and Firefox has one hell of a ad-blocker. Also Malewarebytes is a free program that is AMAZING.
If you have a few minutes before you go I think you should check out this thread, http://thefinalfantasy.net/forums/di...s-problem.html , and tell me if it is something simular to what you are expiriancing because if it is then the program that you just bought is the virus.

i hear ya there rhapsoblarg...i had the same problem a couple months ago and was MIA for a while because of it. like meier mentioned, when you get everything fixed AVG is a pretty good anti-virus.

Yeah, I agree with Meier and kupo. You should probably check out using a different web browser, like chrome or Firefox that has better securities against stuff like that. I hear good things about AVG, and there's also Avast! that has pretty high ratings in terms of computer protection.

You didn't get a virus from an antivirus corporation, you got infected with scareware, which informs you that you have a virus and that it will solve it for you for money. A lot of the times is just a stupid pop-up and you're safe. But there are ones that download themselves automagically as well... >_<
There is no way to control what Google's cohorts put in the ads. I've asked Fuzz before for alternatives but he insists on using Google Ads. That being said, as mentioned above there is more than one way to block the crap from ever showing. I've encountered one or two while using IE, but my AV put a stop to it.
Good luck with your virus/malware adventure. As for everyone else... block those ads! ^_^

That totally sux that you are leaving, but I hope that you won't be gone to long. Btw I run AVG and have ever since I've owned a computer and I'll swear by it. ^_^ The free version is totally awesome. The pay one is good too but why when you can get it for free. XD
