So yeah, I decided to join some sort of Final Fantasy forum. Out of the ones I've checked, this seems like a more friendlier place.

As for my experience in the Final Fantasy franchise: well...

I've only played/own(ed) a total of around four or five games in the overall series. My first ever FF game was Tactics Advance (after seeing it in some small booklet which was in every GBA version of Zelda: A Link to the Past package). The rest: FFX (eventually sold), FFVII: CC, FF:T (PSP ver), and FFI (NES; Virtual Console via Wii).

Spoiler: As with that, I'm not as much of a fan of the overall series (get your pitches and forks ready, folks!). As suggested, I guess I just haven't played all of the main series yet. That and reading/hearing criticism on some of the recent FF games released possibly had some sort of effect on me.

The only reason why I am here is to just chart and ask questions about FF1. For example: "How do I level up quicker after saving that one princess and crossing that one bridge?", "How do I get the black mage to cast 'Magic Missile'?", or "Why does that church have a heart sign covering over the cross?". But who knows, maybe I'll eventually chat about Tactics, Crisis Core, X, and all the rest of the FF games later on.

As for other interest: anime & manga (esp of mecha/sci-fi kind), mecha, guns, video games, model kits, drawing, writing amateur stories, etc.

Extra: Anyone able to guess where my icon is from? (inb4 "some unreleased Final Fantasy movie")

We have nothing against non-FF fans. By all means, discuss your opinion on them. Start a conversation. See how many people may/may not be on the same level with you. Who knows.

There are also many non-FF related discussions found in the general chat. Those can get really really interesting. I hope to see you around.

Thank you very much for welcoming me despite the fact that I am not that much of a fan of the whole series.

To be honest, I also came on here to (eventually) talk about Final Fantasy IX: a game I, until recently, had the back in my head as "that one FF game that I might buy sometime". But upon reading some slight spoilers (shame on me, although I did read some spoilers a year or two ago so...), watching/reading reviews, and etc, I seem to can't get FFIX out of my head at the moment. Sure, I could just download it via computer and play it that way but the only problems are that 1) I don't know how to get a PSX, or any other disc-based, game to work 2) I currently don't know the whereabouts of my wi-fi USB connector for my wireless XBox 360 controller and 3) I'd rather prefer buying the actual game via PS1 case or PSN. However, it'll be awhile 'till I get my hands on it.

EDIT: Originally when I wrote this, I had a long paragraph that I was unpleased with since it was kind of emberrising and something I wouldn't usually post on any other forum. Pretty much, my feelings at the time were some sort of anxiety (although I believe I'm thinking of a more appropriate word) for FFIX; I felt as though I had to play it ASAP. Five or six hours, I am now calm. I guess all I need to explain is that like countless others, I am interested in playing this game mainly for the characters, heartfelt themes, the somewhat more light-hearted apperance/character design, classical pre-FFVII setting, etc. But unlike letting that "anxiety"/impassients get to me, I'll just simply wait until I have enough money to purchase it.
