The items in the shop are just for fun. They don't really serve much of a purpose other than for looks (or you can give them to people as a present if you wish). The HP bar doesn't really have a purpose either, other than a measure of your activity on the forums. It stays full if you have a post average of 5 posts a day. It gets lower when the average gets lower.

The sword through the back was a nice touch I thought; however, we both know that in RL you would not have had a sword eight feet long. You would have been a master at Naginatajutsu, the Japanese martial art involving the polearm called a naginata. If you would like to research that one, I would suggest finding out about the International Budo University in Japan.
