I was trying to get myself into my Command & Conquer games, but I just don't feel up to 'em. And I like Civ III, but I always get way ahead of everybody else, then build everything, then I have to wait for the technology to build Mass Transit and Recycling Centers so that I can have larger cities without too much pollution, and I have nothing to build so my cities are just working on Wealth, and it's just a holding pattern. So usually I find somebody to invade ... sometimes somebody who's pissed me off, but more likely, a civilization that has built cities near mine, especially if they take up space that I could use or resources that I want.

The randomizer in Civ III really pisses me off, though ... I've had my Cavalry (attack 8) go against a Swordsman (defense 2) and get slaughtered, then watched another Cavalry lose to the same Swordsman or a Spearman (defense 2). THEN, a Mounted Horseman (attack 2, defense 1) will take out a Swordsman or Spearman, or even Pikeman (defense ... 3, I think, maybe 4) with no problem. Bastards.

Not to mention, last night, I completely wiped out the Aztecs, then the game screwed up and I had to close it without saving it for a couple hundred years.

So today, I started up another FFIV:Advance game on the GBA. Just now got Rosa, after about an hour of play. I think I'm gonna really beef my characters up while going through the game, instead of just getting to Lunar Subterranian and leveling up like crazy there. That second-to-last glass-floored room before Zemus is great for leveling up, because it'll have two Dragons (Red and/or Blue) or two Behemoths, or one of each. Occasionally, you can find three Red Dragons, all together so it looks like they're on, and they give like 195,000 GP and an assload of Exp.

    So ...

I'm back friends and foes. I just want you all to know that I'm not happy about seeing any of you because I don't particularily want to be back.

Anywho, obviously I haven't been gaming, other than a few rounds of SCIII here and there with Ellie. So, what's been happening at the cult?

By FFL, do you mean Final Fantasy Legacy, a fan-made FFIV MMORPG that runs on a program called Dreamweaver?

If so, it's probably due to me that you're playing it. I showed it to Dawezy, and I suppose it flourished from there. Small world--er....internet.

Ahhh yes, I remember my time on FFL. It was a while before I had the courage to tell Scorp that I hated MMOs. He was so heartbroken; it was a tough day.

Anywho, I've started up FFV again. I personally loved that one, despite it having a sub-par story. I have no idea what I'm doing with my party; they're kind of a mess at the moment. I've got Butz as a Monk, Reina as a Summoner, Galuf as a ninja and Faris as a knight with sword magic. I just couldn't choose this time, so I have no clue where it's going from there. Ahh well.

    Edit: I forgot

CP: Bit of FF11, bit of Taito Legends 2 and Silent Hil 2.

I put that first because I'd like to touch on a few games, which I found myself becoming addicted to XD. In Taito Legends 2 the few games in particular I found myself replaying are Puzzle Bobble 2, Elevator Action Returns and Puchi Carat... Carat is like that um.. you know how you have the platform and you move it from side to side to bounce the ball up, and knock out square/tiles for points? yeah, except this game has the anime characters in the background making oh so erotic noises XD and there is catgirls! zomg, I'm in love.

Puzzle Bobble is just so.. kawaii?

That fucking chubby little kid on the 5th level is a right pain in the ass, I quite literally have no beat him yet >_< almost threw the controller through the TV in frustration (I had almost 1 million points too! argh!).

I should make special mention of Total Carnage too.

    So..

    Much..

    Blood..

    XD

Its got some good toilet humor in it too, its kinda like that old Smash TV except this one is much better visually and the SFX are hilarious. I'm so over that FFL tho, even after I was told I'd have some chamber/area made in my honor its really not all that appealing.. Its like it lost its groove or something.. meh.

Yeah. I believe I was the first in my (and perhaps Dawezy's) circle to quit FFL. It's a chatroom with a game attached to it. It lacked a necessary charm to keep me interested. The rather frequent (when I played, anyways) p-wipes frustrated me.

Also I have no social skills. I lack the team spirit and cooperation.

An then Dawezy passed it on the the ever addicted Scorpian, and he passed it on to his real life buddy Ark^_^.

If it is the one I am thinking of, I am on there too. Scorpian got a room in the castle for being on there so much. go figure....he would be the one with his own room.

hehe, strange, no mentioning of my lack of presence as per usual. XD

Eh, I'm still around, just been mostly too busy playing FFXI as per usual.

However!!!, I have altered pattern! I managed to get to a (albeit somewhat sucky) LAN party and got in some CS1.6 (not everyone had Source), some DoD, and some UT2k4. Was some fun to be had, despite my lack of fondness for multiplayer UT (too much run shoot hope-you-****ing-hit-someone-else-before-they-kill-you respawn repeat for my tastes). Played some one-player tho, enjoying that oddly enough. ^^

Don't worry, no one was particualry saying anything about my lack of posting either lol Yay for being sub-par!

Anyways, I'm not currently playing anything, unless you count catch up on my bills and whatever. I'm at a plateau where I don't know if I want to continue on with my Mega Man, tie up loose ends on X-2 or give Orcarina of Time another whirl.

I loved that game, although it doesn't have high replay value for me. The second time I played it through I would get to a shrine and be like "Crap.. I hate that shrine". Then I'd get to the next one, and I'd be like "Crap! No I hate THIS shrine" and then the next "Crap CRAP. No it's this one!" Ha ha ha.

Although I do love the game. Weird how that works.

I rarely post in here as well, yet no one notices. Or, if they do, they do not seem to mind. When Cesar tells me to post in here, I know it has been too long.

Cesar did NOT tell me to post in here, so it had not been too long yet. Yay for random motivation!

Anywho, time for some currently playing:

    Secret of Mana (SNES)
Lufia and the Fortress of Doom (SNES)
OLD SKOOL - A positive appellation referring to when things weren't flashy but empty of substance, were done by hard work, didn't pander to the lowest common denominator, and required real skill. Labour-saving devices, shortcuts that reduce quality and quitting before the task is done are not characteristics of "old skool."

In reference to computer games, refers to a game that had substantial playability without flashy graphics or eye candy. Old skool gamers appreciate difficult maneuvers, careful planning, and scorched earth policies.

In reference to role-playing games, old skool refers to games that tested players' wits, could kill off careless characters, and required dedication and inner strength to play. Old skool games didn't pander to the ideas that everyone is created equal, that all options are open to all races, that the markets were somehow free, and that a quasi-medieval society could have near 100% literacy.

ZOMG Tiffany, ZRO Where haveth you been ! I have been searching for you *cries*

I am playing FF7....second disk. I happen to like seeing Aeris die for some odd reason. So spent a lot of time getting to that point an leveling up.

Started a new castlevania. My first one went to 60-70 with my bat maxed out. I am still in there leveling up to get the really good ending. I , however got the urge to start a new one. Under C.vixen of course. I lie killing everything, and I usually cheat an get the good swords an capes right when I start. It is fun...an it levels you up quicker.

Also going to get on FFL tonight. Scorpian has been telling me that my level is not where it could be so that what I am doing now^_^

Eh... I haven't added my two cents as much as I should, but I will start. I believe that everyone is entitled to my opinion, so I might as well embrace that belief....

On the current gaming note, I haven't really gone "old school" as of late other than my brief stints with the Megaman Anniversary Collection. I have been rather ADD as of late. Need to stick with the modern day visuals and sound for a while....

I picked up 2 games the last few days. Just a couple I wanted to try.

Midnight Club 3 Dub Remix was the first. I have never played a MC game before, and seen as it was the most current I figured it was the place to start. First off, you can totally tell its a Rockstar game It seems a bit too "arcadey" and rather simple. Its definitely not a realistic driving sim. BUT! - It is a hell of a lot of fun. I got a kick out of the fact that I can put a custom Minnesota licens plate that says "JT ROX" on the ass end of my cars. Its the details that make this game. That, and like a billion cars.

Path Of Neo was the second. I am a huge Matrix fan and I thought that this would be the definitive Matrix game, but I was rather disappointed with it. Its repetitive, the camera angles are horrible, and the game plays out in sort of scrambled fashion. If you are not a diehard matrix fan like myself, I would skip it. Its only 20 bucks for the PC, but still. Not so great.

    Hehe, I tend to lurk a lot lately. I blame FFXI. ^^;

You blame FFXI for everything. Sadly though, you're probably right to do so. You have a problem; admitting it is the first step.

    And so I'm back.

I was away on my annual trip the last two weeks, although I did actually get home last Friday, but just never bothered to come here. Kind of like I do on a normal day.

Anyway. Not much to say, really, other than the fact that intoxication makes roach motels fun.

CP: Advance Wars. Well, sort of. I had revived the ol' GBA "utility" before I went on vacation and decided to have a go at AW. Good fun. Finished it a few days ago, but I plan on going through it again, getting all the COs, etc.

And Dawezy, you should start charging money for that, you could make a forturne.

    Whaddya know? There's a dawezy.com. ****, I miss a lot. *adds to favourites*

Forum related, I was gonna post in that damned BoD Public Relations thread, but right when I hit reply, turned out the thread was closed by then. Ehh. I suppose it's for the better. Might have created some ire. Anyway, that's all in the past. In the present, maybe it's just me, but it seems we've lost the flare that we used to have in the FF6 forum. Must be the feckin' Club forum curse, or something. Or perhaps people are just away. As I've said, I shouldn't be one to talk when it comes to inactivity.

On a sidenote, I had some Australian wine the other day. Some good stuff.

Currently Playing: AW, still. I'm getting better at completing the final battle swiftly. Still taking a pounding at the front lines. So many wasted units...

I think it's more likely that people are just away.

Still, our home is the FFVI forum whether this thread is there or not. I have a new club activity for us though, leaning heavily on the Kefka side of the Cult, and not so much the broader Old Skool side.

We need to fix the FFVI forum. It's not broken, but it's not working either.

The only active threads are generally unintelligent ones. They're not necessarily bad threads, but they aren't topics which require a lot of thinking. Remember my threads from two summers ago? The ones which forced you to choose only seven of the fourteen characters, or one person's power? (And why?) We need more threads like that.

We need more threads in the FFVI forum that require thought. So, here's an activity for all of us. I want anyone who's active to come up with a new thread for that forum, myself included. It could be a rehash of an old idea that no longer exists, or preferrably something new altogether. We can curb the style of posting in those threads if we post in them ourselves, thus showing the newer members the quality of responses we would expect.

    Yes? No? Maybe so?

...hmm, actually, that's it for now. I've played through Xenosaga, Radiata Stories, and FFX this past week. I needed a batch of new school RPG titles to make up for the horrendous lack of videogaming I've had lately. Fortunately, I was able to go through each in a day except for Radiata Stories, which took two days.

Gather round ye old schoolers, for I have found, among the wreckage of my old computer games, Monkey Island 1 and 2 remastered for windows 95 and therefor usuable on XP, albeit a few sound errors!

Oh the fun I had with this game when I was younger. I completly forgot that I had a 95 version. I've started it up and damn is it entertaining. Cheers.

You know, if you right-click on the icon for the program (or get to it through the folders, depending on whether you have the icon on your desktop or not), you can go to Properties and select the Compatibility tab.

Part of the reason Windows XP takes up so much space is because it comes with Windows 95, 98/ME, 2000, and NT 4.0 emulators built in. It's essentially six operating systems in one. Anywho, if you choose to have the programs run in Windows 95 mode, it should fix any sound errors you have.

I made my copy of FFVII PC run in 98 mode, and it runs way better than it does on XP -- and I didn't have to deal with the XP patch!

...just a little tip because I could.

    Currently Playing
    FFX-2 (PS2) - yes, still.

I also did some digging into emulation last night. All of the following are via emulator, though I do have most of the games sitting six feet away in a drawer.

    Star Ocean (SNES)
    Dragon Quest VI (SNES)
    Super Mario RPG (SNES)
    Star Fox (SNES)
    Uniracers (SNES)

...you can see what my focus was.

Yeah, I tried doing that as well, it didn't seem to do much. Mind you, that was when I was attempting to copy it directly from the CD on to the hardrive. I didn't expect that to work in any way or form, but the only way to actually install it is to use some bootdisk technique which, admittingly, I'm far to young to remember how such a thing was done. But now that you mention it, I will try to run it in 95 format directly from the CD. Muchos Gracious Cesar.

    Until now!

I've been playing Baten Kaitos for the past 2 days. I think I have almost 20 hours on it. Right now I'm at the Shrine of Spirits.

It's a really great and fun RPG. My 'persona' character is Sveyna. I pretty much recommend this RPG to anyone. It's fun and the battle system is easy to use. My characters are level 18-20. I think this is another RPG that I'll add to my "beaten" list, because it's just so fun.

    Hullo y'all!

It certainly has been a while since I last posted here. I accidentally neglected this most awesome club once again. Bah.

Baiten Kaitos... it looks like a most awesome game. I saw a trailer for it ages ago. Must get my hands on it.

For now I'm playing MGS3. I've become hooked on Metal Gear Solid lately. Yargh.

    Back. For a while. Maybe.
