    Your Dream House

I've been thinking about this for a while now, and finally got around to thinking about making a thread. I've been playing the Sims games for years, and have never quite managed to make the perfect house from scratch - I usually just build on what was already there, or if it's an empty lot, I build from memory a previous house. Today, before I went out, I was watching some program where this couple renovated a three-hundred year old barn into their family home, and it look ****ing amazing afterwards.

This isn't a thread about Sims or mid-day renovation programs, but about what your dream house would be, and I have some questions:

What kind of place and type of home would you be happy living in?
Does it have to be big or small?
How many particular rooms would you like?
What kind of decoration themes would you have throughout?
Any features that you'd love to have?

Also, if you want to add questions, go ahead and I'll edit them in.

What kind of place and type of home would you be happy living in?
I'm a city person, and I probably always will be; I hate the idea of living in the middle of nowhere. I'll be happy with a medium sized apartment with a pleasant view - meaning big windows. Open plan doesn't entirely bother me if it's done right, but I like each room to serve a purpose.

Does it have to be big or small?
Medium sized with a high ceiling. Small places tend to be too small and I wouldn't want three guest rooms which gather clutter and dust. Something small and manageable when it comes to cleaning, but still big enough for one or two guests to stay over comfortably.

How many particular rooms would you like?
Three bedrooms; one master, one of which I'd use as a storage room for gym equipment and maybe a study, and one for guests or kids if that ever happens. One kitted out bathroom, but a separate room with a toilet and sink - for some reason, having one toilet in a property panics me a little bit. Also, I'd like a large living space and kitchen.

What kind of decoration themes would you have throughout?
I'm a one colour a room type of person. I painted my bedroom a dark red colour almost two years ago, and I love it. It's perfect for sleeping in because it keeps my room dark and it does feel a little romantic. In other rooms, I like creams and coffee colours, with blue, flowery feature walls. I don't know. =s

Any features/objects that you'd love to have?
Like I said before, big windows. I'd also like a large fireplace. Lately, I've had this thing for indoor balconies around stairs, to look down into a room. I also like the idea of having a large book/dvd/game bookshelf. A large tv. A big memory foam bed with lots of cushions to snuggle up in.

I also like gardens, bit maintainable ones that don't take up too much time and energy. I've always wanted to dance and run around in sprinklers lol. I don't need a pool because it'll just go unused and get dirty, but a small pond with fish would be awesome. Maybe a hot tub. Definitely a two-seater garden swing. x3

Also, I need inspiration for some new houses in Sims 3, so... yeah. x3

Not too big or too small.

How many particular rooms would you like?

What kind of decoration themes would you have throughout?

The paint on the walls would all be warm colours and I'd have lots of artwork all over the place.

    Re: Your Dream House

I don't want a big house. Rather, I'd like something like a house in Japan, that utilizes space really well. I'm into really modern houses (though I could live without the ugly designs most have on the outside). Probably because my mom always kept her house really homey-feeling and cozy. A hot tub and/or swimming pool would be ideal.

Also: NO WHITE WALLS. I would like a dark red color for my room. And I want the lighting to not be regular light fixtures, but more like...modern lights. Man I'm really painting a picture here, I dunno how to describe them.

    Re: Your Dream House

What kind of place and type of home would you be happy living in?

A nice flat at top floor of a huge skyscraper, that way a can have a great view of entire city at night, a marvelous sight if you ask me. A nice place at some peaceful village, preferably near the city, wouldn't be bad either, it has it's advantages, fresh air, more freedom, and I love animals, which means I could have my own farm, but then again I already live in such place.

Does it have to be big or small?

Medium would be perfect. Huge homes, villa's and such, feel empty, especially if you're living alone, or have a small family, half of the rooms would be used rarely, if at all.

How many particular rooms would you like?

Two bedrooms, plus a living room with one corner separated that would be used as a library and my working place, kitchen, and preferably a bigger bathroom. As you enter the place, hall, which is straightforward, leads you directly to the living room, you can also enter one of the bedrooms, and bathroom from it. Bar would separate kitchen from the living room, as would book shelves separate my working place. Spiral stairs leading to other bedroom is a essential part of my living room, they would be well placed, and esthetic to avoid lack of space.

What kind of decoration themes would you have throughout?

Never really thought about it. One thing I'm sure of, though, my bedroom would have something drawn on the walls, some kind of graffiti, but with more taste.

Any features that you'd love to have?

Of course. The entire wall facing sunset direction, in both my working place, and one of the bedrooms, would be made in similar manner as french door, in other words, out of double layered thick glass. That way I would have a perfect view at sunset, and city at night.

Nothing wrong with a bit of pole dancing. It'll keep you in shape and be a bit of fun when you have a couple of drinks with friends.

Or you could have a basement? A game room in the basement sounds awesome.

    Re: Your Dream House

If we are going with dream home, which I could never manage to actually have... It would end up being pretty big.

Basically my dream home would have everything I ever wanted to do in it so I never had to drive somewhere for entertainment. A Theater type room, a game room, and the usually living quarters a home has.

Theater Room could be a movie theater but really I could just go with a monster TV, Blu Ray set up. A couple massive recliners to watch movies, those chairs would probably double as my reading chairs as well. The surround sound system would definitely need to be top of the line.

The Game room would be the friendly hang out spot for my buddies and me. The usual stuff a couple TV's with at least one big one, multiple comfortable couches. A nice poker table, pool table, air hockey table and dart board. Probably want a couple arcade style games to, like a Big Buck Hunter. A nice wood bar, with a kegerator and tap system built in. This could be like a man cave basement type thing I guess.

The rest of the house could be pretty normal. I would prefer 2 stories, I like to keep the Bedrooms separate from the rest of the house and so this place isn’t massive, I would think a second story would be best for the Bedrooms. 3 Bedrooms is a good number. Then a nice Living Room, study and a big kitchen. My parents’ house has a very small kitchen and it sucks. More than 2 people trying to do anything in their kitchen is impossible. So a roomy kitchen where several people can move around easily would be nice.

    Realistic Home?

Would still like a 3 Bedroom Home, Living and Family room. I like the suburban living style. Close enough to drive into the city but far enough away where houses aren’t stacked on top of each other. Still like some sort of gamming room but whatever I can get would be a bonus

[Having pulled over a speeding driver.]
Mac: All right, how about Cat Game?
Foster: Cat Game? What's the record?
Mac: Thorny did six, but I think you can do ten.
    Foster: Ten? Starting right meow?
[They go up to the car.]
    Driver: Sorry about the...
Foster: All right meow. Hand over your license and registration.
[The man gives him his license.]
Foster: Your registration? Hurry up meow.
    Driver: [laughing] Sorry.
Foster: Is there something funny here boy?
    Driver: Oh, no.
Foster: Then why you laughing, Mister... Larry Johnson?
    [Foster stares at him.]
Foster: All right meow, where were we?
Driver: Excuse me, are you saying meow?
    Foster: Am I saying meow?
    Driver: I thought...
Foster: Don't think boy. Meow, do you know how fast you were going?
    [The man laughs.]
Foster: Meow. What is so damn funny?
Driver: I could have sworn you said meow.
Foster: Do I look like a cat to you, boy? Am I jumpin' around all nimbly-bimbly from tree to tree? Am I drinking milk from a saucer? DO YOU SEE ME EATING MICE?
    [The man is uncontrollably laughing.]
Foster: You stop laughing right meow!
Driver: [Stops and swallows hard.] Yes sir.
Foster: Meow, I'm gonna have to give you a ticket on this one. No buts meow. It's the law.
[Rips off the ticket and hands it to the man.]
Foster: Not so funny meow, is it?
[Foster gets up to leave, but Mac shakes his hands at him, indicating only nine meows.]
    Foster: Meow!

    Re: Your Dream House

my thing is what would be on the inside of my house which i dream about... not the actual house its self. I dream of having a beautiful lady of my own who love me as much as i love her and we show it so much, we dont have to say it,, soft pillows, wood floors, obedient children, loyal pets, beautiful dinner table... far more difficult to accomplish than jus buying a pretty house... but ill make that happen one day------> promise to myslef

    Re: Your Dream House

In a world where I'm rich, rich, rich. It would have to be mansion, with a cinema room, massive garden, in and outdoor heated pool and sauna etc.

    Back to reality:

What kind of place and type of home would you be happy living in?
Right now I'm wanting a 3/4 bedroom house with a decent sied garden, around the area I'm living, cos Maria is settled in school, I like the area and I have made some new mummy friends who all live around this way.

Does it have to be big or small?
Well, because of the kids, I would like a medium to big house. Just something that doesn't mean having having toys and kids under your feet all bloody day, in our little flat it feels like we are all on top of each other and I hate that.

How many particular rooms would you like?
I need three rooms, one each for the kids and mine and Matts, but a fourth would be nice if I could have one. It gives a little extra space although Matt seems to think it will be a game room (not going to happen!)
Also a kitchen thats big enough to comfortably fit a dinner table in and I would also like a seperate bathroom and toilet just because it's easier than a joint one.

What kind of decoration themes would you have throughout?
    Maria's room: Pink and girly.
    Liam's room: Blue and boyish.
My room: Balck and white (loving the black and white swirled wall paper)
    Livingroom: Brown and cream.
    All other rooms: Cream.

Any features/objects that you'd love to have?
A door with a proper lock will be good, I hate our one
I've always wanted a fridge freezer with a water dispense. I love big windows and bay windows for the livingroom would be lovely and also some french windows that can lead out onto the garden.

For my garden I would fill it with all sorts of toys for the kids, have a patio layed down and have one of those swing seats, they are awesome

    My TFF Family

My FFVII addicted nephew: Secret weapon
My Bullet lovin half wolf cousin: Raider
My complete FFVII nut sister: Unkown entity
My Freya obsessed, grammar nazi brother: Doc rocco
