    Women, handbags and shoes...

As a general rule women have a huge selection of handbags and thousands (well not thousands unless you’re a celeb ^~) of shoes. I have to agree – speaking from personal experience. Or maybe I should just not say handbags and make it more general as in.. accessories.
    But anyway I was thinking…

    For the Girls:

Do you have a large range of handbags/shoes/accessories?
I know I do… and I love it. I always like to mix and match – the feeling of coordination is quite satisfying. That being said I’m also a take whatever is there kinda gal too.. But what about you?

    For the Guys:

Like girls have handbags guys have…? X3 Just curious x3 And what are your thoughts on the (some) woman’s bag and accessory obsession? Does it seem foolish or practical?

XD I know it’s random.. but it was just buzzing through my head ^^.

    Following the path for truth...

    and ending the dream.

Do you have a large range of handbags/shoes/accessories?

I lead a very simple life. I like to wake up in the mornings, and know exactly what I'm going to wear. I can't be dealling with having to go through piles of clothes to find the right top, to go with the right bottoms, to go with the right shoes. I have... Tops: Loads of vest toppy things (all in the same colours of white, black, grey, purple, green and red), five or six shirts, five hoodies and a few other things I don't wear often. Bottoms: seven pairs of jeans, two combats (green and red), and a pair of DARE's. Shoes: three pairs of trainners, two pairs of boots and three pairs of pumps - guess what I wear most? Yup, the tranniers. ^^

When it comes to accessories, I have quite a few bits. I like wearing things around my neck, and I always wear the neckleace I have with the Japanese symbol for love on it. I also have some warrior beads for my wrist, but I don't like wearing them - I don't want to break the elastic on it. Also, it gets on my nerves when I got to type things.

    Make-up isn't my thing. Though, I do like a little eyeliner every now and then. Got to be black though. ^^;;

I'm not a really girly girl am I?

Generally from the male perspective as well as my own personal perspective, I only ever leave the house with my wallet, a shirt, pants, shoes, sometimes socks, And my keys.

    My thoughts on the obsession?
... I mean what ever floats your boat. But I don't think it's really nessisary.

I'm not a female stereotype. I don't enjoy long shopping trips, don't give a crap about designer labels, and will go and do things if I need to. Most of my clothes are from charity shops and I do not like to exceed £20 on a single item of clothing.

Handbag= No. I have one handbag I use all the time. It's big so I can fit all my random crap in it, and its purple faux-crocodile skin. I also have a suitcase, 2 large carry bags and 2 rucksacks I use if I need to pack stuff for whatever occasion. I have a few bags people have given me as presents but I don't really count those.

Shoes= no. I live in my Doc Martins. I have a pair of beach sandals for when its hot, a pair of fancy sandles if needed, and 2 pairs of black boots. I used to live in my purple converse but they're in tatters now. I just like to wear something comfy.

Accessories= yes. I always wear my aventurine crystal necklace and either of my Quincy necklaces, and I often wear my peacock feather hairclips. I sometimes wear my snake jewelry. I have various bracelets and arm accessories, other necklaces and hair accessories etc. I have quite a lot of stuff that I don't wear.

Last Sunday my Aunt was here for mother's day and she gets out her purse, and my sister comments on it, something about it being new or some such... I wasn't really listening. I did, however, interject with a "omgosh look at my square leather leather pouch with a strap that holds things it's so coooollll"

My Aunt told me if I was gay I'd appreciate it more.

No, I don't understand the fascination that some women have with makeup products, handbags, shoes, etc etc. I can understand accessories to an extent, but some girls go completely overboard.

This sentence made me giggle, seriously giggle. I'm not sure about what your aunt thinks, but not all gay men dress like females or drag around hand bags and purses (I'm gay but the only thing I would carry is a bookbag for any dirty magazines I want to read on the bus ride into town or to put a bag or my headphones). That's all I need to carry, that and my wallet, oh and of course I wear clothes xD. But seriously (I'm sorry in advance if this offends any females) but you women get these big ass bags and you use it to hold nothing but clothes and money and makeup and that in itself is stupid.

I mean I sit down on the bus and when its crowded those big ass handbags you carry literally slap me in the face (hard) I mean come on, are you trying to outdue other ladies with a big ass handbag contest or something? And also here's some advice from a gay man ladies, you'd do well to not put your $$$ and wallet in your bag and keep it in your pockets to reduce the risk of theft, just a suggestion.

    LOL!

It's true. I can't stand those big bags either. I don't get it, and I'm a girl. All you need is something small. Nothing too big. All you really need is a phone, bus pass and MP3. And some change. As a matter of fact, you could pop that all in your pockets!

Yeah but if you get to much in your pockets it takes away from womanly form, and if your phone shifted just right you might look like you have a male part, ew.

But as for an obcession with purses I don't see a problem with it, in my opinion woman have the right to splurge on their selves every once in a while. The thing that gets me is the $600-900 purses that are made by couch (SP?); specially the ones that can barely fit a picture ID and a tampon. If my wife was ever to spend that much on a hand bag I would expect that thing to do something amazing like perform sexual favors or be a mobile hot dog stand, or atleast carry a 12 pack and keep it cold.

The big and bulky bags get on my nerves also, pretty much for the stated reasons above.

I really don't know what guys have that compares to hand bags, the closet thing I can think of is tools for me. Seeing I don't wear hats I can't list them but if I did I am sure that would have to hit on my list somewhere.

Haha... well... yes. The way I deal with a lot of things can be stereotypically masculine (I've been told). Relationships, phone calls, profanity, etc. But clothes and accessories... That's where my "femininity" tends to shine. That, and bath products. Shit I love lotion and soap.

While I can be fond of a bit of androgyny with my style every so often, I lean on the girl side of things most of the time. I love colors, patterns, and texture.

Handbags: I have a few. A larger one for classes (I need to carry a notebook, combat gloves, whatever else, etc), green and purple, sort of Art Nouveau (which I love). A black clutch for nicer occasions. A white paint splatter clutch for funsies. A brown leather handbag/clutch thing... they work well for whatever I need to be dressed for.

Shoes: I do not allow myself to be nearly as obsessed with shoes as I think I'd like to be. With all the moving back and forth I do, it isn't practical to have a lot of shoes. All the same... with me here at school... I have 12 pairs. I use all of them.

Accessories: I have a lot of fun with these. Scarves, earrings, belts, necklaces... I have a lot. And I really enjoy coordinating them in preparation for something. I won't even bother naming all the shit I have. Oh. I also have a pair of glasses that have wine red frames. They look goooood. I can rarely commit to hats.... but I do have a white fedora.

I have a lot of simple things I can pair with things I want to showcase, and I try to go for things that have a classic appeal and won't go out of style by next week. And my goal is to look good, but not like I tried too hard to get that way. I'm pretty successful. This is all when I have time to worry about it and I'm not running to class in a t-shirt and jeans (like this morning).

I'm not big on designers, I just want it to look good and be well made. I do take a few cues from them, though. I think you can have a lot of fun with fashion once you stop worrying what people think it means if you enjoy it. In moderation, of course.

As a rule, I generally hate shopping for clothing, shoes, bags, or most girly things except for skirts.

All of my handbags were given to me for Christmas over the last ten years or so. I will use one until it either falls apart or until someone says to me, "Hey, why aren't you using the bag I got you?"

Most of my shoes are several years old. I don't understand why they haven't fallen apart yet considering I walk a lot. I stick to boots and ballet-like flats. I have sneakers, but they just sit in the corner sneaking. I don't know how many shoes I have. I do know that I have a problem throwing out old shoes. I still have some from high school sitting in the closet, becoming homes for spiders and centipedes. I guess I hold onto them in case another five years goes by before I find shoes acceptable to wear.

I do like jewelry. It's probably because I have an affinity for shiny things. I also make my own jewelry. I know that I like it that way.

I don't follow what is in fashion. If I happen to be wearing something that is fashionable, it's just chance. I like to do my own thing, mostly because what is in style looks freakin ridiculous. Oh yes, now we're back to lace bottomed stretch pants and over-sized old lady shirts. I so don't miss seeing that from when I was 7 years old. Are we back into tie-dye now, too? You know what, don't tell me. I'll check the stores in another ten years.

Haha I know what you mean! I have a fairly large handbag (nothing too riduiculous), but thats really to fit my phone, ipod, keys, wallet, and pads in. Theres room to spare for my jacket (for the infamous ever-changing British weather), and for a carton of milk or whatever I may need to stop of at the corner shop for. I will carry around the odd fabricated bag or two when I do my food shopping so I don't need to use excess plastic bags (ever the eco conscious am I).

Occasionally i'll go by train to one of the nearby cities, and its crazy how many shopping bags some girls have from all the designer shops. Unfortunatly I find a lot of these people to be the arrogant arseholes who won't give way for anybody. I always feel sorry for that one man you sometimes see being dragged around the highstreet by his girlfriend and is having to hold all the bags. If I were that man i'd tell her where to go! xD

Like some of you here I can't stand really big bags either, but I do have two biggish ones that I use when going far from home, mainly filled with stuff Maria will need. I do have a terrible habbit of buying small bags, I can only fit my phone, purse and keys into them. One of my evening bags can only fit a phone in, and I have to put money in a side bit cos no purse will fit lol.
I have several bags, 2 biggish ones, but not big enough to fit a puppy in like some lol, and I have 3 tiny evening bags and about 5 normal sized evreyday bagsm wow I have 10, and I'm planning on buying a small pink one to go with my ress for my partners sisters wedding.

Shoes, I have a few of 1 pair of trainers, 2 pair ankle boots, 3 pairs of knee boots (I like boots), 2 pairs of flat shoes, 2 pairs of high heeled shoes and 3 pairs on evening high heeled sandles soon to be 4 pairs

Accesories I have quite a few necklaces, even tho I often for get to wear them lol, and I have about 46 braclets, but nearly all of them came as grouped bunches, examlpe I have 15 thin gold ones, and 7 purple sparkly ones, 9 black and silver ones etc, I only have 3 braclets that arnt part of a set.
I hate belts and rings, I just cant put up with feeling them around my finger, it feels weird to me.
I do love pashmias aswell, I have a gold, black and a white. It's cos when I go out in the eve somewhere nice I always but on a nice dress ALWAYS a dress and a pair of high heeled sandles, and I don't like to ruin the look with a coat or cadigan so I buy pashmina shawls.

Yeah... whereas girls have thousands of accessories, -most- guys are pretty simple.

Wallet. Watch. Class ring. LiveStrong & Nintendo bracelets.

As far as bags and such, I've got my laptop backpack, and a Mirror's Edge bag that I'll use, depending upon how much stuff I'm taking where. I leave bag-less 90% of the time, and only carry it if I'm bringing multiple handheld systems, my laptop, or a change of clothes or somesuch.

My girlfriend, on the other hand... she's definitely a girly-girl when it comes to anything outside of videogames. She's got at least four purses that I've seen (and who knows how many more) and a rack of shoes next to her bed with 15 pairs of shoes on it... and more shoes on the floor... and probably more in her closet or somesuch. I've not looked. She's got a couple of necklaces she wears often (notably, a large Hyrulian crest), but nothing in the way of bracelets or rings, at least not on a regular basis. She's got patterned socks for every occasion. She's got a belt that matches her necklace, except with a much larger crest as the buckle. She's probably got others but it's the only one I've seen her wear. She's got a couple of those waist-belts to go with some of her shirts. Earrings. Lots and lots of earrings. Most are musically-themed.

Well im a woman and nope, I only have the shoes I really need...a pair of comfy shoes, a pair of high heels, a pair of boots (for some reason I've always liked boots), and some boot/shoe things for when i go on my boyfriend's motorbike =D

As for handbags, I only have two, and I bought them several years ago! I can kind of understand the whole mix-and-match idea for women, but I've just never been like that.

I'm one of those girls who generally don't accesorize with a lot of handbags and necklaces...Personally I don't care for that stuff...Not to important...The only kind of jewellery that I have on is the ring on my left thumb xD classy O.O...And I only where sneakers I've got three pairs and that's all I need xD...I don't see the point in having a million pairs of shoes and never getting to wear them all...That's my love for handbags and shoes :]

No. I don't have a huge selection of that stuff.

I have four pairs of shoes: my suade italians. My kneeboots. My ankle boots... and my most favourite: my steel toe capped combats.

I have three bags: My shoulder bag for carrying bags and art stuff about. My little bag, so I don't have to lug loads of shit about, a black bag that I use when I'm in on the move.

And accessories? Three hairties, one hair clip.
One pair of earrings. A few rings, two bracelets. Those things never leave my body.

    That's all, folks.

I hate shopping for all this kind of stuff.

I own exactly one purse and it's only big enough to hold basically my wallet and my cell phone. Oh, and it's black. No silly flowers or pastel colors here.

Shoes, I have two pairs. My beloved sneakers which I will wear everywhere and an expensive ($55) pair of black dress shoes for the occasions where I can't wear sneakers. Funerals and such. Although they now have yellow flecks on them cause I helped my mom do some painting and forget I had those ones on. >.> I like to wear them around the house sometimes.

Accessories, well I do admit that I like jewelery. I have my Griever necklace and my mom's old wedding ring. I wear them everywhere as well, though I do have a couple of other such things given to me as gifts and such. I used to have earrings too but I'd need to get my ears re-pierced if I wanted to wear them again. Probably won't but you never know...

Makeup, I hate it with fiery burning passion and will only wear it when I'm forced to, generally at gunpoint. I'd rather have my normal imperfect visage than a fake one. Besides which, it's expensive and well in the realm of luxury to me. The most I've done is use a little bit of my mom's foundation/powder, mainly when I was younger and had no say in the matter.

First, my thoughts on women's bags and accessories.

For the bags, kind of rediculous. I guess I just don't understand why some women need such huge bags. It's just crazy. Just all I need is my wallet, with cash and cards.

Guess just that I'm a guy so I'll probably never understand.

But with accessories, I can understand that, to look different, stand out, etc etc.

Now with me, other than my wallet, clothes, phone and keys, I don't really have any large collection of anything except for my game collection (of course) and movie collection.

I see no need to waste money on handbags and shoes. I only own one pair of shoes, and two pairs of flip-flops, and I am fine. I don't care about handbags, they just take up arm room >.<
