I want to know why it's socially acceptable to put yourself on a pedestal above other people at all. Snobbery should be shat on, not celebrated.

I think it's a difference in culture, and not so much being snobby. I've spent time living in both cities and in a pretty rural area. Both have their benefits and both have their drawbacks.
I did however notice that the county people seemed to complain more about the city people though. I'm not just saying that to be an ass, but there was always complaining about how all of their taxes went to the city, which ironically is the opposite of what city people say.
Everyone sucks.
