    Why is it socially acceptable?

This topic is for the discussion of socially acceptable situations/scenarios that you dont agree with and why.

Im gonna start with one I've thought about for a long time.
Why is it socially acceptable for persons in relationships to attend strip clubs? You have a partner, it ought be seen as disrespectful to go somewhere to ogle/have strippers grind on your for the purpose of... sexual arousal? entertainment? Why is this a thing for anyone other than single people? To further this note, what about bucks/hens nights? Why is this acceptable right before you are going to pledge your life and love to your SO, why would you disrespect them in this way? Im old school, but fuck, you dont need to be oldschool to understand the concept of respect, yet I feel I am the only one that feels this way.

I personally think that people just think about boning too much

...Um, it is a strange thing for a honkytonk/club musician to think? I know that. But I uh...wow, people just want to bangadangadangadang all the day and night, gracious books are a thing

However, I do want to say that I read a book once (unsure of sources or w/e idk) called "Constructions of Deviance" it said that strippers are like con artists, they are trying to get dumb ass fucking drunk dipshits to think they are getting laid tonight, that is their job, and it is a very old profession, almost as old as the other one that is old, so yeah.

Now, I don't go round knocking the shovels out of people's hands who dig ditches or telling the SLOW sign holding guy that he needs to pay more attention. I don't enjoy bugging people at work, but honestly, strippers do not get along with me in the past, and I really do not relish the idea of people ogling my girlfriend all day and night and junk.

So ... Uh, do I split tip money at the end of the night with the ladies or are we limited to our separate tip buckets? Not that the ladies need a bucket. I'm gonna shut up now.

Yeah i've never really got the appeal of the stripper side of stage do's or hen nights. I treat it more of a celebration of the guy/gal getting married the next day. IDK my flatmate's are getting married next year so there's lots of discussion/organising/falling out every other day and it makes me want to avoid all this drama and just get fucking married when the time comes.

It's not necessarily "right" but some people see it as a way of mixing things up without actually cheating. I have several friends who have been in very solid relationships, and have wound up in strip clubs at one point or another.

I also have single friends who make it a weekend ritual, and actually talk to the girls as friends.

Personally, my girlfriend, and my friends girlfriends and wives would be absolutely furious if we were to ever go to a strip club.

I don't see any harm in it, personally. You're not going to find love in a place like that, just overpay for beer and human contact. Truth be told, it's more sad than anything else.

As for bachelor parties, I don't think they always have to be about titties. It's more of a proper sendoff for a friend, before he becomes a married man and does boring shit lime look at carpet samples at Home Depot all day on his weekends

I do too, brother. I was just essentially paraphrasing Old School.

I'm on the old man end of that perspective now. I'm two months away from proposing, and the biggest argument we have is about county and tax bracket

I'd probably be very upset if I found out my fiancé went to a strip club, but only if he didn't talk to me about it first. I don't think I have anything to worry about, and certainly not in a strip club, but I'd be a little insulted. Like, what if I wanted to go too?

It would literally be like that time he streamed Kingsgraive without me at his place and told me Sean Bean died without any context to what he was watching. He didn't really have fun, I didn't really have fun; but if we'd watched together, there would have been popcorn and more emo jokes.

As long as he mentions a strip club might be involved, goes to a clean one, looks and doesn't touch, gives a nice tip and gets home safely, I got no complaints.

The media and hollywood make it seem like it's a socially acceptable thing. Literally no 0 friends who did a "traditional bachelor party" by going to a strip club or getting a private striper. Sounds like some cliche shit someone in the military thinks of.

I can't confirm or deny things that have happened at bachelor parties.

I can say there was drinking, cigars and gambling involved.

Personally, I'd like there to be golf or fishing, plus beers for mine. Boobies optional. Maybe something in another city, like Myrtle Beach.

Cliches exist for a reason. The most awkward situations came about where the bride-to-be's brother was with us. He complained about literally everything we wanted to do.

I remember my ex in Phoenix telling me he'd go in a strip club with $20 and leave with $19 lmao.

I've hung out in strip clubs a couple of times. They were grimy places, but I was friends with one of the dancers. She let me and my ex go in the back with her and we did durgs all night long. It was like on a Tuesday night, too, so it was mad slow.

IDK. I don't think I'd mind if BeeJay went to a strip club. Then again, the chances of that happening are pretty much nil and he's pretty picky. And I know he'd never do anything wrong. He said the last time he went with friends (pre-me), the place advertised exotic dancers. He was like "Since when the fuck are c-section scars and meth mouths exotic!?"

Things that go against our ideas of what it 'is', just because many other people participate in said activity.

    in a relative example;
In any other circumstance, a skank in lingeire/half naked grinding herself on you would be considered some form of cheating or at the very least, disrespect to your partner, but if its labelled something else, like a 'stripper' or going to a place specifically for that (=S) then its not considered disrespectful or cheating. Im with loaf on this, mainstream media is responsible for that.

... I spend my time thinking about faster than light travel and habitable world colonization, and video games, guitar, my family, history, and latin.

Um. And guitar, a lot, like a shitload. So...

People don't get along with me because I frankly just get distracted from studying by talking to them. I started playing face-melting guitar so people wouldn't think I was such a nerd, but it just doesn't help at all. I just can't hide it no matter what I do.

Socially acceptable just isn't in my vocabulary or reality at all.

Depends on how you attend the strip club. If you're going with friends and gf goes with and its fun, maybe that is your thing. If you're going solo or with your boys and building "relationships" with the girls, I'd consider that cheating.

I agree with che here. There's a pretty big difference between wanting to see some titties and have a few grossly overpriced drinks with friends versus creeping on a girl and trying to make something come from it.

It's not gonna happen, and if it does, kinda gross.

    HeeeeEEEEYYY GUYS.

I have no beef with strippers. Get ya dance on, so long as you are getting paid a fair wage, feel safe and empowered with your own body, and etc.

I do agree that it's a weird thing to go to a strip club right before getting married. Like if you haven't been to a strip club the entire time you've been dating, why is there a need to change that as an uncomfortable way to honor and acknowledge your continuing relationship?? Because I'LL NEVER SEE TITS AGAIN or something? Bro you've been looking at the same tits for years (plus or minus your porn habits idk), what is the big deal? And why the heck do some girls get shit upon for not being cool with a sudden and temporary change to the expectations for relationship? "I love you, and I want to spend my life with you..... bUT FIRST I GOTTA SEE SOME TITTAAAAYS."

    Seems weird.

Strip clubs are weird places to begin with. For starters, overpriced and watered down drinks. It's cheaper just to buy your own booze. And if you're going just to see boobs, most people have internet access. Just watch porn. I agree that it's unacceptable to go to a strip club behind your partner's back. That's borderline cheating. If she wants to go with you, that's a different story. Still weird, though.

Humans are omnivores, and meat being a potential necessity to people's diets, it needs to come from somewhere, hence you have animals raised and bred for food. It would be good to give them a better life, but that isn't realistically feasible seeing as how many people there are to feed.

My life is based on convenience. I can cook a turkey chili and eat for a week, or chicken fajitas and eat for a week. I like to buy from companies that claim to give their chickens a good life, but at the end of the day, I don't really care. As long as it's not gamey.

If I were a hunter, I'd use as many parts of the animal as possible. I live in an apartment, so I buy simple parts and do the most I can with them.

I do not think it should be socially acceptable to...

Dot dot dot. No one hangs out with me or talks to me enough to get to know me or bring me into their social circle. Socialization has been terrifying for me from day 1, and has never improved.

If anything, I take issue with the usage of the n-word (doesn't matter what version) just casually being thrown around. A lot of black entertainers are partly to blame for this as well as a good number of people in general. Some people believe they aren't in the wrong as long as they are using it in a friendly manner, not being aware that often the word is still used in a negative context even in situations with just blacks involved. Just because somebody does an action, doesn't automatically make it okay to repeat it. It's a situation of monkey see, monkey do.

Also, the US at least still have some stupid double standards going on when it comes to genders. If a female sleeps with a bunch of males, she's a hoe. If a male sleeps with a bunch of females, he's more likely to get praised for it...or at the very least receive less negative feedback.

Why is it socially acceptable to speed when driving?

Like I'll be in the passenger seat, and the driver will be rocking a solid 110 where the limit is 100 km/h. Dude, treat your car like a loaded gun, because it's a whole lot more dangerous than a gun, and it will fuck you up too. Even if you're God's gift to driving, there's probably someone on meth in the next lane, just waiting to cause a catastrophic fuck up, and every extra one of your km/h's are going to count.

I do my best not to speed, ever, and happily drive a bit under the limit. That's why it's a limit, you know, the maximum, not the mean. If I ever pull someone up on this, they just hurr durr about chilling out, and the cops being out to get them.

I reported a guy the other day to some cops who was in some civic doing like 90mph in a 40 mph. I thought he was gonna hit me tbh, I saw him coming up in the rear view mirror and actually could see very far in front of me and got in the wrong lane (double lane on each side) to lessen the chance. Who knows when a tire will blow out?

Then there's people who drive too slow, those are hazards on the road too. But I will admit that I usually do about 7-9mph over what the speed limit is, keep the traffic flowing so it doesn't bunch up. That's when things get more dangerous.

Personally I don't care for strip clubs. I use to go and made a lot of money off the drunk fools that wanted to play me in a game of pool. The strippers generally got a cut of my winnings if they helped to bait the looser into playing me.

My wife would not care if I went or vise versa and probably will in the future for bachelor, Bachelorette, or birthday parties for friends. Wouldn't go out there just to go there now adays.

The thought of someone other than my wife touching me in a sexual way repulses me and I know the wife feels the same way.

As for speeding, I do believe, some people think their time is more valuable then others or they just don't care about the people that are around them.

One semi new thing that irks me is when people pull out cell phones and record fights. When did it become socially acceptable to do that and not break up the fight?
