Not hard for us gamers to do, right? What's in your inventory? And not just anything. I mean real items that are in your possession right this second.

Look around you. What items would you take with you into a game? What significance would they have and how would you use them? Why did you pick them? Discuss.

Easily answered. Some sort of cheat device! Oh boy, it'd be lovely to have some enemies running after you. Activate a cheat and they'll be surprised out their wits why the hell your health guage ain't going down.

But of course since I don't have any cheat device, lets get back to seriousness.

After Solid Snake destroys Metal Gear and defeats Gray Fox, he confronts Big Boss once again while escaping from the Zanzibar Land detention camp. Having lost all of his weapons in his earlier battle with Fox, Snake is forced to resort to a more clever way of fighting Big Boss (by collecting a lighter and an aerosol can which he then uses to make a flamethrower).

Man. If we could do this in the first MG game, Big Boss would have been so toasted. A lot earlier too.

My katana, wakizashi and tanto, my hockey sticks, my baseball bats, at least two dozen of my knives, the cheese sandwich in my back pack, the parmesan in my fridge, my music player, my shoulder bag, my back pack, my first aid kit, my boom box, my extra batteries and everything else I can stuff in the bags.

My drawing tablet so I could draw any weapon and make it real, febreeze spray to disguise any nasty smells, my water bottle, pizza, books that could gain me experience, a heavy printer to throw at someone's head, a laptop, a flashlight to blind you with, and the cat litter box that's sitting in the closet.. that can be deadly.

I like the idea of this. I'm hoping it's like in games though where the things you carry have no effect on your traveling abilities, since I'm not that strong...

Weapons: Five- inch scissors that open all the way to cut things, a letter opener in the shape of a mini katana to stab things, a stainless steel 18- inch ruler to whip things, a guitar for head bashing, and a really big rock I've got in my room for more head bashing (from the room I'm currently in). Also my two baseball bats and wooden sword for major fun when I'm attacked by droves of monsters (from the closet).

Food: Pocky sticks, Red bean ice cream bars, Gatorade, green tea, chocolate chip cookies, cough drops, and ham sandwiches (all from my fridge)

Miscellaneous: A camera with a wicked flash to blind my opponents...and to take pictures, extra batteries, cell phone to call for back up, and my glasses (for when I'm in the dark and everything looks like blurry mush + they're in my room too).

I'd keep it simple, real simple. I'm thinking like rpg-style here, so I'm not counting keys or anything like that, but if my house keys got me into any door I wanted, then that's sweet.

More or less shit I have with me every day or in my room. I figure I'll start with the bat and make my way up the weapons chain, GTA style baby. Maybe some clothes too, but I dunno.

Haha I've been analyzing this too much. I keep thinking about needing this or that and what if my clothes need washing, or what about a shower?! Soap? And toilet paper and a toothbrush... you know, stuff I think I need to worry about, but that isn't often addressed in RPGs so it doesn't matter.

So. If we go through my usual inventory:
Weapons: Pepper spray and a one inch steel blade (sometimes). And.. keys.
Other things: Wallet, chapstick, phone, camera, and a pen.

But if I was in a videogame? What would I add? That I have in my possession? Hmm.
Weapons: I'd keep the pepper spray and the little blade. And... I guess... well, there's a machete in the house I could swing around. Yaaaay. And I could take my hammer. Basically, my whole tool kit would be useful.
Food stuff: Uh... canned tuna, canned corn, canned beans... a multivitamin/mineral... Oh, and I'd take sardines. Lots of good things in those smelly little fish. And uh... a water bottle.
Other: I'd find a bigger wallet or purse (there's a bigger one around here somewhere) so I could carry more cash or whatever the currency is. And I'd take my camera and its charge cord. I like pictures. A compass and a loud whistle would be useful. I have those. Oooh and my personal alarm thing.. wherever it went. I'd grab a few notepads and some extra pens. If my phone got a signal, I'd want that too. And bandaids. Lots of them. Neosporin and peroxide. And I'd rather take my glasses than my contacts. And I'd take my little one person tent and a blanket. I could use a sweatshirt as a pillow. OH! And one of our big flashlights with extra batteries. And my Swiss Army knife.

Making this list is making me realize how much stuff I think I need. Ohh well.

I'll consider everything in the room to be accessible enough to be in the inventory. That makes sense, right? I mean, I could feasibly carry this stuff with me, and if we do it VG style, then I could have quite a bit of stuff, actually. Of course, I wouldn't want to carry it all anyway.

So here's what we've got:

• Backpack - used to carry the inventory, of course!
• Shotgun - comes with four boxes of ammunition
• Hunter's Knife - good for killing/skinning things
• Revolver - comes with three boxes of ammunition
• Camera - used for logging the bestiary
• Phone - used to contact other party members
• MP3 Player - produces the soundtrack for the player's enjoyment

• Mobile Phone - May be used to contact important party members, can also be used as weapon. (Annoying Screech ringtone ftw)
• IPT Test Paper - inflicts the enemy with "Boredom" which aloows the user a quick escape.
• Packet of Gum - Used in sticky situations, inflicts Stop
• Chocolate Bar - Used for a quick stamina boost, beware, may have side effects.
• Ipod - Cure any ailment - makes the user resilient from boredom.
• Bottle Of Coke - If used, the user is given the haste status for 3 hours, beware, after 3 hours you are inflicted with teh Slow Status.

What the crap? You don't need Ipods or cell phones or food in videogames.

Food only restores health, if you're good you don't need to use it. And god dammit, I'm basically amazing. If I need some health, I'll crush some shit and find a health pack or potion or small rations.

Cell phones are out. You won't be calling anyone in the real world, you're in a videogame so they'll think you're crazy if you try to explain to them you're stuck in a virtual world. You gotta beat the game to get out silly! Besides, you don't need to call anyone in the game, if you need to change characters you open the Menu.

Ipod? Nope. All videogames come with their own soundtrack.

What you need are:

A map so you can GTFO. Running in circles is bad.

GUNS and lots of ammo. Preferably stuffed in your backpack that carries a rediculous amount of shit that you realistically couldn't carry. Like five different rifles, a bow, a knife and two submachine guns and a flash light.

Anything that casts or allows you to cast magic is a definite plus.

So, lemme see...things I'd actually have that I'd take...

First and foremost: Backpack. Where will I stash all the stuff, anyways?

Clothes. Jeans, T-Shirt, jacket, sandals, and at least a new set of underwear. Just in case...

Wallet and keys. Preferably I'd fill my wallet with money. And the cell-phone!!

Laptop. My backpack is meant to have the laptop, so why not? I'd been able to stuff clothes and more in the backpack, not too heavy, and the clothing would provide extra cushioning.

Multi-plug, and all the cords for the electronics. Hey, maybe I need to recharge my stuff!!

Katana. And bayonet. Though, I can really only smack some with the long one (unsharpened, though it's from stainless steel!!). The bayonet would be my fave weapon: pointy, small, lightweight, enough inches to get me arrested and to pierce vital organs. You know, you cannot get a kidney or a heart well with those 1-inch knives, am I right? Not like I'll need them, but if some dark denizen of the netherworld (or the closest angry hobo) gets close.

Old and useless CDs. Preferably sharpened. Ever played Revolution X? Those are nice ammunitions until I get to the good stuff.

Yeah, no matter how stupid it sounds, I'd get my iPod. I can hammer that it could give a boost to Morale if I suddenly put boss music, right? At least that gets me pumped up.

Flammable cans. Sadly, I got no lighter, but you'll never know when I can get one, so it would work for make-shift flamethrowers. Too bad they're already used...

A Bible. Yeah, a Bible. Not too useful if you have little faith, but if I can suddenly get all the faith I can, I can use it for impromptu exorcisms, use Psalms to repel evil and whatnot.

Spare belt. You know, they can make nice whips in a heartbeat, and sometimes all you need is to make some distance. Strangling with them is a plus, too, and making that with some sort of weapon to neutralize is nice too. Any spare cords that are enough sturdy to work are fine too.

And this is just on my room!! Wait until I get downstairs. As far as I can recall, I can get the toolkit (yeah, with some sturdy wrenches, and other nifty items), a can of lubricant oil (flammable, and lubricant. Either is useful), a small hand ax and hammer (impromptu weapons, and also effective tools), some long wooden sticks (you know, like the ones used for brooms and the like? That way I can pull off one from Resident Evil and make a spear out of the bayonet!!)

Food I don't add. See, you can buy food, get food from abandoned places (as long as you can notice the expiry date!!), get food from trees and other places, attempt to hunt...

I would add survival books if I had some, or well, try to download some from the Internet before a cataclysm. But then that would lead me to no electricity, so it would be mildly useless. Unless I can make a makeshift generator out of a bicycle and a power plant, with some tools (!) and some imagination.

I know, I added some stuff from outside sources (though I DO have the tools and the weapons!!), but that is considering how much you can get from just wandering around. Preferably, inventory would be from what I can make from my room, where I usually stay, so...

I assume I didn't forgot anything.

Coat and some boots- For harsh weather conditions
Deodorant- In case I can't find water no where to bath in
Toothbrush and toothpaste- In case I'm not in a town

That's far as personal inventory. Now for my battle inventory, I would have:

My two handed japanese sword w/ two gold throwing knives on the handle- I'm no monk!
Shoes I can move swiftly in- For any battle's tempo.
My knive- In case I get ambushed.
Glaunets- To protect myself from being mauled or slashed.
Flashlight- Better safe then sorry!

All the rest will be provided when I win battles and travel (money,magic,accessories,armor etc.).

Uh...the almighty, best weapon ever...

A PEN.

It can be used for stabbing, ink poisoning, writing down stuff on your arms as reminders, and drawing moustaches on the your enemies when they're dead. OH! And it's got to be a clicky one. I'd amuse myself for hours with a clicky pen...and, you can use it to annoy your enemies so they'll eventually just...leave you alone.

Perfection. And plus, you rarely see game characters with pens nowadays

Other essentials:

- My baby brother. Can use 'im to scare off the bloody fiends and such.
- A brick.
- An extremely funny photograph. I dunno, maybe that one of Kris looking like a girl with whiskers...
- My phone. Or rather, I'd steal my best friend's phone and use hers. It has contract, and good memory, so I can take videos of me and my party acting stupid and stabbing people with pens. Woo.
- RAMEN.
- A kettle.
- Seven bottles of water. Seven precisely, because I figure my journey will be about a week long, so I can use it to boil to make the ramen. Oh. Make it 14 bottles. Cuppa teas, as well...
- Box of PG tips tea bags.
- A mug.
- A light bulb. So that, whenever myself or a member of my party has a good idea, I can hold it aobve their/my head and make a 'ping' noise. ^^

Think that's it. I wouldn't make a very useful party member, would I? Haha.

My Quincy cross necklace: For those who have not seen Bleach, the pendant becomes a bow. Arrows are gathered from spirit particles from the surroundings so no need to worry about ammo!
My sword: Another weapon for taking down my enemies.
Fossilised cave bear teeth: I'd have to modify them as they're blunt, but since I probably make a lousy swordsman, these would be handy to use as a pair of daggers.
Crystal collection: As far as Final Fantasy and similar games are concerned, crystals and crystaline formations allow you to use magic and summon.
Food and drink: To restore HP and boost my stats!
Witch puppet: Puppetmaster job if i'm feeling lazy.
Phone: To phone my fellow adventurers for back-up if I need it. I can also take photos... uh... screenshots!
Wallet: To store my gil or whatever currency the game uses.
Ipod: If the game music sucks, I have an arsenal of appx 1500 songs!
Ribbons: Impervious to status changes- hurrah! Who would of thought these little scraps of fabric could be so nifty?
Bike: If they can fit a bike in their inventory on pokemon, I can do it too!
Make-up, clothes, hairbrush and a mirror: I'm vain...
Toiletries: Even if it's a videogame, BO is a no-no.
First aid kit: Gotta be prepaired!
Torch: 'Cause I cannot see in the dark.

I'd also retrieve my toy pokeballs and pokemon from the loft. Why? Because i'm really lazy so Charizard, Dragonite and co can kick ass for me and fly me to my destination! Oh... and i'd pack a few small children to throw at an overly-strong enemy so I can escape!

-Metal ruler - It's two in one! You can measure things, and cut people! Just add rust, and you have a tetanus inflicting weapon!
-Aragonite egg - It's hard, heavy and blunt. Enough said.
-Large USB cord - Functions as a whip and connects to various... USB things.
-iPod - Incase the soundtrack sucks
-Various drugs we have - The legal kind that I can mix and feed to my opponents
-The Australian Drug Guide - So I can create some really nasty combinations
-Syringes - Okay, so I don't have these, but they are easy enough to get hold of. Just incase my opponent wont eat my mixtures, they can be injected. >=D

Hah, oh wow, I'm pretty sure I could be reasonably prepared for an RPG based on the things around here.

Various knives - Pretty simple melee attack weapons, they come from my kitchen.
Long Wooden Stick - So I could bash people on the head, also could influence RPG Spellcasting abilities
Mp3 Player - Because I could be in a world with a soundtrack similar to FFXII's....Sevendust made that experience much more enjoyable.
Golden Coloured Chain could be used for strangling, whipping, or tying things (I'm pretty sure I could use this in conjunction with my belt to make a sort of sheathe belt for my knives.
a pencil I could use my pencil to reset my Mp3 player, because it's a piece of crap and likes to lock up a lot.
My Magic the Gathering/Yugioh cards In an rpg world there's always the chance that I'd be able to invoke the powers shown on the cards. Could also be used to summon monsters, but only if I have the proper way to pay the costs.

as for armor type equipment
My Grey jeans. confortable, deep pockets, and a tiny waist, so I could move quickly without fear of them falling off. offers decent defense.

Black shirt - to go with the grey jeans. Just looks cool. also provides some defense against attacks, though not as much as the jeans. half damage from shadow element attacks

Black Tennis Shoes - Speed Boost, half-damage from shadow element attacks

Accessories -

my Shark Tooth necklace - offers mild resistance to water based attacks

My lucky pendant - +5 to my Luck

My belt - Vitality and Strength +3
