I was confused for a second, too (I don't usually RP), but the RP Forums are now located in the Spotlight Theater Subgroup, apparently. I dunno.
I was a member here way back in 2008 and I used to do quite a bit of Rping and I just came back (new account, must've forgot my password) and it isn't here anymore.
This really does make me sad. I was hoping to catch up with some people I used to RP with.

Ouuu, the gathering hall. I haven't been here in a while.
One things I can mention is that life happened, however there is one RP I know will never die no matter how long it'll take for us to put out a post. Try making something, Ark. It might gain some interest.

Best RP:Final Fantasy Chronicles of Exigo~The Fall of Spira
Check it out. The Fall of Spira is finished!
Y'know, I never really understood how RP battles were supposed to work. I did a few, and it involved typing out an attack or a reaction to what the other poster was doing, and at the end you were supposed to post something to help decide who won...? Like, how do you do that? I thought I was supposed to write the lead up to my final blow, the other person was supposed to write theirs, and a third party (judge) would come in and decide who won based on the merits of both posters' writing. When I did that, however, the judge called it a draw and got mad at us. Was I supposed to type that "yes, my character's attack definitely connects with this other character's attack, and this is why I win?" But isn't that "god-modding?" I just don't get it.
I miss it too, Ark. I think most of us are adulting and would like to do more of this but just... never follow through with it.
Also, Taco,

Ya gonna show me how it's done? Haha, okay. I gotta come up with a character, or something?
I'd love to do more RPing, but it seems nobody else really has the time anymore.
For Our Lord Sheogorath, without Whom all Thought would be linear and all Feeling would be fleeting. Blessed are the Madmen, for they hold the keys to secret knowledge. Blessed are the Phobic, always wary of that which would do them harm. Blessed are the Obsessed, for their courses are clear. Blessed are the Addicts, may they quench the thirst that never ebbs. Blessed are the Murderous, for they have found beauty in the grotesque. Blessed are the Firelovers, for their hearts are always warm. Blessed are the Artists, for in their hands the impossible is made real. Blessed are the Musicians, for in their ears they hear the music of the soul. Blessed are the Sleepless, as they bask in wakeful dreaming. Blessed are the Paranoid, ever-watchful for our enemies. Blessed are the Visionaries, for their eyes see what might be. Blessed are the Painlovers, for in their suffering, we grow stronger. Blessed is the Madgod, who tricks us when we are foolish, punishes us when we are wrong, tortures us when we are unmindful, and loves us in our imperfection.
Free time is a rare commodity these days. I feel like even when I have some, there are a million other leisure activities that take preference over others. Sadly, writing is pretty low on my list these days

Basically from what I remember (and it was years ago), you basically commend people for their creativity. If you say you throw a punch at a dude and he's like "nah you never hit me", then the fight basically dies. If he's like "he hits me, and it delivers the most wake up call of all shits ever - and even though I know to collect myself, I can't. I spend the next 3 episodes powering up and talking shit because I don't wanna get hit again"
- then you're like "alright, this dude is creative, the fight is ongoing, it makes me wanna write more." That's the win. I think there's a ton of unintentional "godmoding", simply because people don't know how to interact in it. You can easily write "I parry all of your attacks. I charge up, you didn't interrupt me. You die. **** you." etc
That's how it used to be, where a judge or three would determine a winner based on story, writing quality, cohesion with the other poster, character development and the quality of description. The best writers could really create a flow that was both easy and fun to read, while also intense.

Who the shit wants to do that, though? That's like a full time job.
People have free time but they don't have the amount of free time they used to have where they could write and RP and still have free time to do the things they wanted to do.

Heh, i remember years ago back when the forums were booming. There was an RPB tournament, and as a supermod i figured best i join it, for a laugh if not anything else..
So for my first "fight" i got pitted against Mydako, he was probably the most enthused RPBer this forum has seen and he posted first and his intro was about 3 pages long.
I thought **** this, i havent the time to do this shit, i got games to play yo. So i went to one of his older fights from a few months back, copied his intro and then just swapped my name in wherever and posted it thinking it would get noticed straight away.
It didnt, the battle went on for pages and i just kept posting his own work against him, i even had to pick another thread of his cause the one i initially picked ran out of material.
I think i "let" him win in the end, or i just revealed what i was doing in a TFF chat, either way, he went on to the next round, deservedly so
ADULTING IS HARD MMKAY
If I get extra good at adulting and have a consistent work schedule, I could absolutely see myself doing RP and/or RPB again. I just have to have dedicated times to sit and do that. The way my schedule and life is at the moment, I probably turn on my computer twice a week at most.

God am I glad to see this post and it's recentness! Guys I know I haven't been around since 2010 but I'm back and I really want to change the RPing area once again. I want to breath life back into it and get some more RPs going! If anyone is with me just say so. I'm already working on an RP, I just need the people to participate!
