Japanese people eat soap instead of washing with it. True story. My grandfather was in the Navy during World War II, and whenever they delivered packages of soap to Japan, they'd eat it.
Anyway, my favorite culture is American culture. More specifically, American culture around the Philadelphia tri-state area. I love how pissed off everybody is, and how nobody from New Jersey knows how to drive a ****ing car. I love how people always root for sports teams that they know absolutely suck and are going to lose, and announce that they're going to lose before the seasons even start.
And I absolutely love all the crystal meth drug rings. Smells like freedom. Sweet, corrosive, explosive freedom. We also have some of the highest pollution rates in the entire United States.
Plus, there are many historical cultural aspects, such as the entire city of Philadelphia, chartered by William Penn in 1701, and the original capitol city of the United States.
Plus we got M. Night Shyamalan and Bon Jovi.

So what Odin is saying is all Americans are different, and all Japanese are basically the same?

Dammit, Alpha, that video had me looking for my MSN window! rofl That guy looks like he about to eat that kid on his right.
Me? I like people. I like Italy's movies and food. Sweden has some good horror books and movies going on. I love Sushi and Japanese samurai flicks plus I generally find their language the least abrasive. Plus UK rock bands generally are favorites. And Belgium beer.
I'm a multi-cultural guy. Cosmopolitan. Citizen of the World.

Re: What is your favorite culture and why?
Japan people are boring. They are either disappointed in you, don't like you or to busy working to care.
My god New Yorkers? Some of them are great, some of them put their city down by how they act.
My favorite culture is human culture. HUMAN

Re: What is your favorite culture and why?
America does have a culture, you just don't see it from where you're sitting.
I don't have a favourite, mainly because I haven't really experienced any other culture other than my own. I'm not really someone who wants to travel the entire world, but I'd love to visit America, Japan, China, Vietnam, India and Australia. I'd also like to go to the Roof of the World, Tibet too. I have a strong interest in Buddhism, so I might enjoy those trips.
Talking about "other cultures"; the ones from home... I like gaming. And that's really it...

Come on man, just think a little bit lol.
Their society isn't as open as ours.
And about the thing where they all look the same, I used to think that latina women are the prettiest. Does that mean they all look the same? No, tho they do share major similarities as with EVERY RACE!

Re: What is your favorite culture and why?
My favorite nation, "culture", besides my own of course, is Spain. They share same religious believes as me, their country is simply beautiful, love their language, women, food, traditions, football clubs...did I mention women =). If I had the chance to visit any town whatsoever, it would definitely be Valencia where I would participate in their famous carnival, and visit Mestalla of course.

I've not even been to Japan, yet I can tell you how wrong that is. Japanese culture has evolved so much more than the west. Everything is completely different and diverse from what we have: farming, cuisine, literature, art, fashion, technology, religion, performing arts, sports, business, architecture, history... and more, and with each that could be listed here, a dozen roots spring from them into sections. To say it isn't as open is naive - Japan isn't a closed up little box lol.

You just proved my point while trying to disdain it.
Anyways, not risking warnings cause I can't properly explain so, I think my second favorite would be, either the farming culture of China.

I don't think she proved your point at all. It's a little hard to follow you, though. Point is, the more you talk, the more we start to get how you're just obsessed with a culture blindly. You have built up in your mind this haven for yourself that you believe exists in Japan, and all we're trying to say is it's not what you think. So really, we're just trying to help you out.
Hope this helps.

That's the thing. I know a hell of allot about Japan. No, not from animes and crap like that either. (not crap but ya know).
My friend who lives there is literally teaching me the ways of Japan, or how and what I should expect. I also have a "pen-pal" who is teaching me Japanese and she also tells me about different places, what again I should be expecting.
And in all honesty, I hate america and can't wait to get out of here fast enough.
I know I'm hard to follow and I'm sorry about that.

I'm not racist either, my best friend is black.

Don't flatter yourself over that. I meant you're hard to follow because you rarely make sense, logically.

No, the thing is you don't make sense in your posts, so I attempt to politely show you what I mean, but it doesn't work like that. Freakin hell.
I like Japan, and what I know about it is true and probably have more experience about Japan than allot, other than travelers.
Huh? I didn't say anybody was racist?

I'm not black... have you replaced me you ****!?
I think that early Celtic cultures had a really interesting way of dealing with things.

Lol...What I meant was you went off on how you know so much more than everyone else about Japan because you have a "penpal" and a friend "teaching you the ways". Yeah, I watch youtube videos of people living in Japan and see what they do on a daily basis, communicate to people webcams who currently live in Japan too. You are so involved with their culture.

I don't understand. Please explain to me the half that I am apparently not getting.

Re: What is your favorite culture and why?
Dino, nobody understands you. Re read your posts before you post them.
So if I read up on Russia, talk to a Russian, learn their language, does that mean I know their culture?
-
Re: What is your favorite culture and why?
Maybe I should not just freakin post.
It appears I am always the brute of an ass even when I try to get off subject >.>
This is what culture do you like.
I like the JAPANESE CULTURE.
This post isn't why does o0Odins0o post make no sense to me.
Fuking fuK man >.>

Of course. It's like listening to rap music then making a friend that's black. You can then immediately understand all the different emotions that go along with the word n*gger and are now fully aloud to use it freely in all situations.

Re: What is your favorite culture and why?
Moreover, does it mean that "their culture" exists as a discrete, observable reality, and is not just what you want it to be?
What is up with three other people writing at the same time?
-
Re: What is your favorite culture and why?
Oh no we get that you like Japanese Culture, we got that.
please re read every reply to this thread.
-
Re: What is your favorite culture and why?
Yes, I see what I have wrote.
I didn't make the first "hostile" comments.
I honestly can't believe everybody, or at least a few people are having such a hard time understanding what a culture is.
-
Re: What is your favorite culture and why?
I live in a culture. I know what culture is.

The Ancient Greek culture because I love their mythology, it is just awesome.
Plus, if war was anything like the Samurai or ancient greek wars, I would definitely be in.

Re: What is your favorite culture and why?
I could've sworn I posted some links to the straight definition of what a culture is or is capable of being.
Also I'd like to state that any culture that puts a lot of respect into gaming is a culture I can get behind. aka Korea, Germany, etc. (etc. being a really convenient way for me to not have to think of any others)

What are the most common American cultures?
If I were just say Idk, Australia, what are the first things that come to your mind???
The first things that usually come to mind is culture. Think about what I had said, give it thought before you answer illogically. ;)
