I have read a top 20 list, on how the world may end, and number 19 was, we wake up. That is chilling.
There were also something on a strangler element, biblical apocalypse, and Artificial intelligence rivaling our own...

Quite frankly, if the world ends before my time, you're the first person I'm coming after with my ban stick to point the blame at you.
I think we'll most likely get hit by something. Or the Sun will let of a flare that is big enough to just simply wipe out 95% of the human race, and the survivors would slowly die due to poisonous gases and poverty.

I think if the world would ever end, it would be due to an invasion by Galactus the Devourer. He'd eat earth, just like he did to the planet Zenn-La, and he'd kill every single person on earth, except for one, and that one person will be the man or woman do to his bidding.
That is the most logical way I could ever see the world coming to an end. Every other theory kind of sounds like it belongs in a comic book.
Being of the Christian religion myself, I think it'll end by the coming of Jesus Christ. Not necessarily "end" but rather a new beginning.
However, I am well aware of the things going on in the world right now. Earthquakes, tornadoes, all that stuff. However, think back to the San Francisco earthquake. People back then probably thought the world was gonna end. And here we are, about 99 years later.
So I believe it won't end anytime soon, but it'll definitely end. Eventually. Just my beliefs.

It'll be through stupidity or arrogance, which are really the two major proponents of any downfalls. People will either get cocky and think that they can keep doing the same shit that always happens, not expecting any type of consequences, OR ignorance will prevail to doom us all.

I honestly think the US will go too far one day. Either pissing off another country/world enough to launch a devastating nuclear strike or just do it themselves in some patriotic display of world bullying. I'm 100% serious. I just hope it happens after my time, sorry kids. May not happen in the blink of an eye but it may start as them blowing up a section of the planet, the world gets weary demands them to stop, they make more enemies blow up more of the world etc. until it comes down to a fatal error or they kill themselves off when there's noone else to fight. They're idiots for having as many nuclear weapons as they have yet love to oppress the rest of the world.
That's the most likely scenario I think. The of course it depends on what you mean. Do you mean how will humanity end as the world knows it or do you actually mean how will the planet physically end? What I stated above is how humanity might end, the planet is much more resilient. The planet and all life has gone through some insane changes in the past, far beyond I think anything humanity can do as technology is today. The planet could only possibly "die" if the biggest asteroid ever logged or another planet hit it and blew it to pieces or if the sun dies and it drifts into nothingness being destroyed gradually by the universe.

Well, lets try not to turn this into a whole political thread. It's always so easy to blame America for being arrogant and war mongering, when half the world bitches that we don't do enough to stop dictators and help to bring in freedom and democracy to countries that nobody gives a shit about, and the other half bitches anytime we decide to do anything.
If I had the choice, I'd say let America become isolationist, demolish (like literally, with controlled demolition) the UN, with all of those losers inside of it, and let the rest of the world go to hell, with zero help or aid whatsoever from the US. THAT's how the world will end, and I will laugh.

Ozone deterioration is not a possibility for the destruction of the world. That's actually environmentalist bullshit you're mistaking for fact.
The ozone layer is created by sunlight hitting rising warm air molecules, so even if it were somehow being depleted, it would be replaced instantly, since sunlight is constantly hitting the upper atmosphere.
Ozone naturally breaks down at a rapid rate, as well, from two molecules of ozone to three molecules of oxygen. Yet as rapid as it breaks down, new molecules of ozone are instantaneously formed.
Moreover, substances purported to degrade the ozone layer, such as various aerosol spray, have vapor densities far heavier than air, so they'll never even reach the upper atmosphere.
Ozone deterioration is about as bullshit as global warming. It's all a rouse.
Before you post, please understand what I meant through previous posts on this thread.
I mentioned through Sunflares. It would literally rip the Ozone away. If it is ripped away within seconds, there wouldn't be enough time for it to "recharge."

Your theory is a sun flare? Sun flares occur every day, and not a single one of them has ever come close to ripping anything out of the atmosphere. Needless, although ozone does absorb UV light, it isn't large enough to provide soul protection.
Moreover, it's the mass of the atmosphere, as well as earth's magnetic field, which provide protection against the majority of UV light.
Anyway, if sun flares did manage to rip apart the ozone layer, new ozone would be repleted near instantly. And if the ozone somehow magically didn't replenish, there would still be plenty of protection from radiation. Earth is like a well-guarded fortress. Nothing can get in.
Do I really seem like the kind of guy who quotes things? Ozone is a hazardous material, and therefore qualifies as an area of my specialty. If I didn't know what I was talking about, I wouldn't have brought it up.

As long as there's a magnetic field around the earth, a solar flare, even a "massive" one, will only do minimal harm, if any.
And gamma-ray bursts depend on the proximity of the burst in relation to the planet. Needless, if any gamma-radiation does happen to reach earth, it may cause photodissociation of nitrogen, creating nitric oxide, which is a strong catalyst for the decomposition of ozone, but as I said before, ozone is generated when either sunlight hits warm air molecules, or by an electric current. The entire ozone layer wouldn't take too long to regenerate, so the worst that would happen would be that you may increase your chance of getting a sunburn.
Radiation would cook the atmosphere, creating nitrogen oxides that would destroy the ozone layer. And also means we would be exposed to high amounts of radiation.
What i believe you are missing, is the length span of such an event.
If a gamma ray burst were happen, would it be a minute? Which would still cause massive damage, stopping all electronics. Or would it last hours? Which would be Chernobyl all over the world.

There was a massive gamma-ray burst which occurred about 50,000 light years away which was detected in 2004. Apparently it was the largest galactic flash ever recorded, and apparently it also hit earth. It altered the ozone for a short period of time, but like everything, that passed.
Needless, gamma-ray bursts don't matter, considering that the burst that hit in 2004 would be about how bad a blast would be. There are no magnetars close enough that if one were to trigger an explosion, it would do any damage. Now if there were one at least 10,000 light years away, then we could have a problem, but luckily for us, earth is at a very calm spot in the galaxy.
The nearest megnetar is located 16,000 light years away. If that one bursts, there would be effects, but nothing serious.
Hmm, where have you heard that? I am interested. however, that is the strongest one that we know of, not exists, and the strongest one that we know hit the planet. I have heard it wasn't a direct hit.
Being that Gamma-ray bursts are the second strongest thing the universe has seen, next to the big bang or collapse, I doubt it was a direct hit.

iv had many dreams in the past year about the ending... dreams that r soo real that when i wake up i cant believe it, one dream in particular scared the crap out of me.. on a normal afternoon a bolt of lightning hit earth. it was continuous and proceded to grow and grow and grow wider and wider piercing the earth making a hole in one side and out the other.. then made a black whole where everything was being sucked in.... funny thing was,, i remember exepting our downfall and saying "f*** it,, i may as well just jump right in cuz' theres no gettin outta this one"... then i woke up..

Talking about hte End times, and dreams. I had a hectic dream where the ground everywhere was erupting with pilars of red water. The skies were crimson, and there was allot of noise. There was also allot of mayham, fire falling from the sky. Kinda like a biblical armegeddon.

I believe the planet Earth will be here for billions of years. I do not believe humans will be on it that long, and if I had to guess I imagine stupid people will cause all the smart people to kill off this entire race. Either that or we all get ass raped by an alien species.
