What separates TFF from other forums?

You're all members here, so you can all give your opinion on what makes TFF better than all the rest. And if you don't think it is, what the hell are you doing here? It seems like TFF is one of the only forums that has such a variety of and activity in subforums, like in the Member Lounge subforum.

Some questions to get this thing started:

-What exactly is the reason that TFF attracts so many different kinds of people (unlike other forums about music, movies, literature)?

-Why do so many people stay active around the forums (albeit on and off), even though the common interest is a simple entertainment series?

    Is Fuzz God?

    Is God Fuzz?

    Is your mom hot?

    Discuss.

P.S. Ignore the last 3 questions, if you will.

Fuzz owns every other FF sites he promotes, so its like subsidiaries..

also TFF is probably the biggest and most dramatic, cause all the others get hacked down....think about that for a minute and you'll see why..syd?

Though I don't think that TFF is probably the biggest FF-themed website out there, it has a diverse community that intrigues me, to say the least. I think the community is not too small yet not too big either, and the site has been around for give or take a decade with no end in sight. I personally enjoy my status of being somewhat of a lurker in the early years only to come back and see how things have changed and everyone has grown.

To answer your first question, I feel that the Final Fantasy series is becoming more and more mainstream and accessible to people who want to invest their time/resources into it. A lot of it back in the day was more of the hXc fanboys who loved the first three american FFs (I, IV and VI), then it changed and added more people (albeit a little delayed) when people played FFVII and realized "how cool them role playing games can be". It became even bigger when SE began to dominate the PSX with it's FF8, FF Anthology, FF9, FF Origins, and so on. Nowadays the more popular games have had spin-offs and remakes, and SE has also gone into other forms of media to promote their product, which has gained them more fans in the process.

For your second question, I think that even though people come at first for the substance, they stay because of the community. People here are very cool and real, and true friendships are built off of meeting people from here. I know from experience, as I had a close relationship akin to dating one member here, I've also drunk dialed a certain mod who shall remain nameless, I've talked to many people off here daily via MSN/AIM/phone, and all kinds of other stuff I would do like I would do with any other friends that I have.

Although Fuzz doesn't equal God, he is a pretty cool guy in his own right, and yes Ragna, your mom is very hot and I'll tell her to get off my bed so she can cook you dinner when I'm done with her, aight?

-What exactly is the reason that TFF attracts so many different kinds of people (unlike other forums about music, movies, literature)?

Diversity and community.Diversity should awnser itself. But I think the biggest bread winner here is teh people that are the members. Apon your first post on this foum you will be welcomed and it doesn't just stop there. There are alot of friendly relatable faces (ummm yeah) here on this site that make the place worth coming back too.

-Why do so many people stay active around the forums (albeit on and off), even though the common interest is a simple entertainment series?

There is always something interesting here, unlike alot of the other FF sites that I have been to. The variety of things you can do here is very appealing. Plus this place has the Chocobo Digest! (A little shamless promotion never hurts). Plus there is always something new. Just when I start to get bored around this place I find something worth my time to keep me here.

What exactly is the reason that TFF attracts so many different kinds of people (unlike other forums about music, movies, literature)?

I would say diversity, but everyone else has taken that word. For my answer, it would simply be that while there is a certain group of few members who take the KH/FF7/DoC trends too seriously, the general populace of TFF is people who generally don't resemble morons such as Gaiaonline members. For the most part, they aren't idiots and usually the kind of people you can talk or hang out with. At least, that's what I feel for being here for a good few years. I mean when you first join you kind of feel secluded, but that's the life in a forum community where people know each other and have known one another for years. It's a bond from people who while they don't share similar interest, their love for FF or videos games or even nerd shit in general connects everyone from different corners of the room to sit together. It's a social civilization like a card game shop you go to and meet up with people of similar interest, talking and playing cards games. Or if you want a more simple analogy, TFF is basically a bar with a bunch of people, bad beer, but fun times.

Why do so many people stay active around the forums (albeit on and off), even though the common interest is a simple entertainment series?

Continuing the bar analogy, TFF is basically the local irish pub with non-irish owners. It has the kind of environment that is lost within most RPing forums, despite what activity you'd see from RPGChat, animeleague, gaiaonline, or other somewhat to quite active RP forums. It's like the small town among a country filled with big cities and ghost towns (dead RP forums that never got off the ground). There isn't a lot of crime. Most people are content. It's kind of quiet honestly. That's probably why people come back too because there isn't really any pressure to continue some long-going RP or post on a specific date. It's a breath of fresh air among people who go to many sites that have a lot of traffic.

-What exactly is the reason that TFF attracts so many different kinds of people (unlike other forums about music, movies, literature)?
I'm not entirely sure, but my best guess would be because it's not restricted to one ethnicity. That would be racist. Since the creator of the sight didn't take the time to go around and block the IP addresses of everybody that wasn't his preferred race, then everybody is allowed in, which is good, because I like black people.

-Why do so many people stay active around the forums (albeit on and off), even though the common interest is a simple entertainment series?
The reason for this is simple; people have far too much time on their hands. That's what's so bad about multitasking. Everything gets done too quickly, and therefore leaves nothing to do for a good portion of the day, which is precisely the reason why I don't believe in multitasking, which brings a question to mind. If I don't multitask, then why do I have so much time on my hands? And the answer is, because I do, which means that this entire statement of mine is completely irrelevant.

    Is Fuzz God?
I don't even know who Fuzz is.

    Is God Fuzz?
    I don't know. I've never met God.

    Is your mom hot?
No, because if I thought otherwise, it would be pretty creepy and incestuous.

-What exactly is the reason that TFF attracts so many different kinds of people (unlike other forums about music, movies, literature)?
now, probably the varied community and many threads. At the beginning, probably a LOT of googlers found this place and referred their friends, thus creating the community that we have today.

-Why do so many people stay active around the forums (albeit on and off), even though the common interest is a simple entertainment series?

Well for one the admins actually care about it's members. That is what failed on my old FF forums I was part of back long ago. When the site went down, nobody told anyone and when it came back up, nobody told anyone. Then it went back down and back up again.

Also the members, if the members stay, the place will still be alive.

What exactly is the reason that TFF attracts so many different kinds of people (unlike other forums about music, movies, literature)?
I think it's the members. Unlike the other forums I've been on, the members here aren't usually the type to come on just to start up trouble. It also pretty hard to start up trouble on a site with some really awesome mods protecting all of us, and making sure we don't step out of line. I guess if a site seems friendly enough, and organised, then there is always room for more members to come and spread the joy. =D

Another thing is that people these days sort of depend on the games industry for their entertainment because of development in technology and what-not. The quickest and cheapest way to research a game is by using the internet.

Why do so many people stay active around the forums (albeit on and off), even though the common interest is a simple entertainment series?
I stay active because I enjoy talking to a large handful of the members here. I have quite a few on MSN now, but even then it's always nice to talk through the place you met. Sounds weird, I know. Also, there have been some very, very interesting subjects coming up of late.

    Is Fuzz God?
    In my eyes, he is.

    Is God Fuzz?

-What exactly is the reason that TFF attracts so many different kinds of people (unlike other forums about music, movies, literature)?

Well for starters it's based on the Final Fantasy Series - a large range of games, and so it interests a multitude of people.
TFF also has a friendly layout - sounds shallow but design is everything. I've been on many forums. Some just don't grab you and it's sloppy... Not only that but there are also Role-Playing, Movie, Literature, Art, General Chat and Intellectual forums within this place.
I'll tell you what else attracts people. The members. If someone new tests out the forum by posting a noob thread in member business... you get so many replies. That makes you feel noticed and appreciated. I tell you - that is a recipe for success.

-Why do so many people stay active around the forums (albeit on and off), even though the common interest is a simple entertainment series?

The primary reason... Because of the members. The community. We all were sucked in via the common interest of Final Fantasy... but now this place has a personality. And it's the people here which makes us return.

    And Fuzz is just awesome.

I would have to disagree with any idea that TFF brings in any diverse people, as most seem to come out of the same framework. However, as to why people stay, it is because of the bonds people make. I spent my teenage years here, awkward, confused, and cold, and I talked to other awkward, confused, and cold kids. TFF has culminated in actually meeting some people here, as well as many life lessons. I think of it as my version of Arnold's from Happy Days.

What exactly is the reason that TFF attracts so many different kinds of people:

I believe it is all of the great people on here! Everyone is so nice and willing to help you if you ever have a problem. Plus the Gil and arcade are unique features

-Why do so many people stay active around the forums (albeit on and off), even though the common interest is a simple entertainment series?

Hmm, there seem to be more inactive members right now, but putting that aside, I think there are a few reasons:

    1. Final Fantasy is one of the best known -if not, THE best- game series and franchise in the world. It is natural that a forum created solely for it would be so popular.

    2. There are a ton of different categories that you can post in, so it appeals to other people. Ex. RP people, us that just like to nag about random stuff etc...

    3. The godly staff that keep this place running smoothly are another reason

The style of the forums has nothing to do with what seperates us from others. If it weren't for the members, this place would look less interesting than those other sites. However, I do like the simplicity of this forum's design.. there's not a ton of sub-forums that crowd everywhere like so many other FF forums have.

Anyways, when it comes down to it, it's the members. I actually LIKE reading what people have to say in this place. Mostly everyone is friendly and somewhat mature about things. As far as I can tell, there's none of that stuck up "I'm an older member than you, so I should be respected" as much, either. If you go to some other forums, you'll get ignored completely if you're not "cool" by their standards. TFF doesn't seem to do that. There probably has been a few cases of it, but it is very rare. It is easy for people to fit in here because a lot of us are very excepting.

Do you love me Chez? Rawwwr and shit.
Seriously, I'm thinking about the entire forum staff and rubbing my nipples.

Now the one definete thing that seperates TFF from other forums is the URL. No other forum shares that same unique URL. Also our members are superior to members of other forums including other forums that have our members in them due to innate qualities that only random people and spambots who join TFF have.

And the thing I personally love most is in general people aren't too assholey here. That only seems to happen in rarer circumstances for the better part and when it does happen it makes me wince and eat comfort food as my ability to empathise is too finely developed.

-What exactly is the reason that TFF attracts so many different kinds of people (unlike other forums about music, movies, literature)?
The problem with this question is that I can't exactly say that TFF attracts "different" kinds of people. We've all got one thing in common -- we either play or have played Final Fantasy games, and enjoy(ed) them enough to join a community specialized to the needs of its players. Yes, we have broad chat areas, and yes, perhaps it is these areas that keep people posting longer than just a few times inside of the FF forums... but though we all have a lot of differences, we share that one major thing that brought us together to begin with.

-Why do so many people stay active around the forums (albeit on and off), even though the common interest is a simple entertainment series?
I think I accidentally answered this in the previous question.

I could be mean and change your post count to 1 if you'd like. Actually, I retract that statement, because if you're anything like Pete and myself, you know that post count is just a number that doesn't really have any true meaning... and I don't really feel like revoking all of your posts.

I don't know, probably because the people are nicer here than other forums I have visited. It seems a lot more quiet than it used to be but it's still a great community.

Why do so many people stay active around the forums even though the common interest is a simple entertainment series?

There's other stuff to talk about since there's sections dedicated to different topics other than Final Fantasy plus I suppose people become friends and like discussing all sorts of things together.

Haha, uhh.. I'm not sure. Maybe?

What initially interested me about this forum was the conflict in the community; the "newbies" vs. the "vets" was happening as early as September of 2001. Those "vets" had been on the forums for probably less than a year... that's plenty of time to build an ego about your status on a forum! amirite? Plus, there were the clan wars and such (which I didn't take part in...) But yeah, that was going on, but there were also some friendly older members who I liked, along with newer members who started cropping up, so I was talking to those people, and calculating my "increase in status" as my post count and time on TFF increased in number... until the day that I would become a moderator! (Which was a little less than 5 years later... and at that point, I became a moderator because people were being spammy dicks in the music forum, and I wanted to punish them!)

Why did I stick around? The people. A lot of people have left, but new people have come along, and TFF generally attracts the friendly and interesting kind. So when you reach out, you can generally find people who will recipricate. I love you guys! ...well... maybe "love" is a strong word for most of you... ...I like you guys! A majority of you don't piss me off, the majority of the time! Yay! Anyhoo...

Well, we seem to be the most talkative and most easy-going forum. I went through the list of FF forums out there, and when I wandered in (to the places that wasn't locked to the public), there seemed to be not as much activity going on as us. And I don't mean just posting, but conversations as well. Yes, our forum talks way too much! But that's what I love so much about it: there's always something new to talk about each day. And for a talkative person like me, that is heaven!^^

Honestly, this is only the second forum I've ever been involved with. The other one was the Sims 3 forums, so I can only base my opinion from that experience. I do love this one ten times more. I may not have as much experience as other members around here since I've only been here less than a month, but I still have an opinion.

If you don't care to read my entire post, here's what I think of this site in a nutshell:

    It rocks.

-What exactly is the reason that TFF attracts so many different kinds of people (unlike other forums about music, movies, literature)?

I haven't met a whole lot of people yet, so I really don't know how diverse this site is, but if I were to venture a guess it's because we all deep down have a love for the same thing- Final Fantasy. Okay, so that might be the "Duh, we already knew that" statement, but that's what I think.

All in all, this is a great community of gamers who share the same love of the series, yet have differing opinions that make for great convos. and discussions.

-Why do so many people stay active around the forums (albeit on and off), even though the common interest is a simple entertainment series?

There are so many topics to discuss, and it's not just limited to Final Fantasy. I think it would get really boring if that's all we discussed day in and day out. Also, this site is a lot more lenient about the topics that we are allowed to discuss. On the Sims 3 site you are only allowed to talk of the Sims 3. You can't even talk about Sims 2 or any other EA games without getting a warning (eventually you do, if the mods are paying attention). As you can imagine THAT got so old. Also, it's a lot easier on this site to get people to acknowledge your post/opinion/creation or whatever. I bumped so many of my threads on Sims 3 forums, and sometimes never even got a response. It's very disheartening when that happens.

Oh, and I would also like to say that I think the VM and the PM things are awesome. I can actually communicate with the friends I've made on this site. You can't do that on Sims 3, so it's actually pretty silly to have friends there.

A lot of people answered these questions, so I will too.

    Is Fuzz God?

If He is, then I really have some questions I would like answered. Also, I would like to apologize for using His name in vain so much.

    Is God Fuzz?

    ^See above response^

    Is your mom hot?

    ....

She must be, since she got knocked up four times in her life (my 3 brothers and myself).

I just like to troll and stalk people. >> oh, and I can post my boobs up. :-) j/k

I think it's because it's more personal here. There are people that have been here for years. So once you gain a reputation; no matter how long you've been gone; you can always come back and be greeted by the awesome people you missed. <3 It's more about people with a common interest coming together and making friend based on everything but what they originally came here to talk about.

I don't know why we are all different ages and stuff here. That part I don't think is very different.

Unlike many forums this one is for all sort of people, even for those who didn't play FF that much. Mainly because this forum has something for everybody, You don't need to know much about FF to be here. If you are music fan than there is section for that, if you like literature or movies there is section for that and so on...

Well there is always something new to discuss about, and the community here is the best.
