Saturday was the first day of fishing season here in Wisconsin, so of course I went. I put my kayak into the Wisconsin River and rowed upstream about a mile, stayed there for a while, then slowly drifted back, stopping to fish more when I found a decent spot. And when I was done, I paddled back to where I put in at and left.

But something occurred to me while I was taking my kayak out and putting it in my truck. See, both of them have names. Both have stories behind them too, of course -- my dad bought a canoe around the the same time my sister (Amanda) was born, so he named the canoe "Mandy", and since that was the only boat I knew for a long while when I was a kid, I got a little sentimental and named my kayak "Mandy" as well. And my truck is named "Christine", after my Husky in Iraq, which I named after the '58 Fury in the Stephen King book/movie -- that's a longer story, but I already posted that around here somewhere.

But yeah, so I figured I'd make a thread out of it, because I was wondering how many other people do the same thing.

Do you name your possessions? Your car, your boat, a firearm, your console, anything? Obviously, people name their pets and kids -- those don't count.

I'll put up pictures of Christine and Mandy sometime, too.
