I've never actually watched any. It looks...fun? Although I'm not sure if the fan base is so obsessed because it's good, or just because they're obsessed. I'm also not sure how their gender or age is relevant though. If you like something then you like something, pretty simple equation. I have recently found a love of a Canadian childrens' programme from the 80s or 90s called Tèlèfrançais, because they use really ridiculous looking puppets and the visual style is just slightly off. It's great, and a fun way to revise some beginner's French. I'm not going to start a craze over it, but people can like anything for any reason, I don't care.

The attraction to this show is yet to be explained. The only thing that's been said about it is that -- for people who are fans of other childish, feminine children's cartoons -- it makes people feel happy. How so?

Is it like many other modern cartoons, in that there are innuendos and suggestive comments that only adults would understand? Take, for example, the Shrek movies -- one reason (if not the reason) they became so popular is that children and adults can both watch them and both be entertained by the jokes. Parents don't have to worry that their children will understand the sexual innuendos, but can still enjoy the movie. The same with Spongebob Squarepants, even. I haven't heard of that being the case at all with My Little Pony.

From what I gather, My Little Pony's biggest attraction is its non-attraction. It's not something designed or intended for mature adults, which is why (semi-) grown men get into it. The same as "underground" music, B-movies, the "goth" look, piercings, et cetera. Just because nobody else does it doesn't mean that you're cool if you do it, there are usually better reasons.

Which is why it's rare to find an adult My Little Pony fan that will actually not bring up the fact that he's an adult My Little Pony fan. From what I've seen, they talk about it because they want you to know that they're different.

Second, nowhere did I mock people for watching what makes them happy -- but that doesn't make it good. Men can watch soap operas, Dangerous Housewives, Jersey Shore, whatever they want to. And they can watch it because it makes them feel happy. But that doesn't mean that they are good shows, does it? And it certainly doesn't mean that everybody who doesn't like them is somehow bad.
