Well it depends on what is your girlfriend like, what she likes and so on... The best present you can give her is the one that comes from your heart. If you really love her you don't need to buy something extraordinary. V-Day (as you called it) should become a day on which you show your love to her, and the present becomes just a symble of it.
Anyway, I'm going to dinner with her on thursday and I'm gonna buy her a teddy bear that holds a heart (really nice!), a red rose and a photo of my girlfriend and me!
I think the present, if you want to buy her something, must be original and not big or expensive. That's my advice (maybe not a good one!), then do what you feel like!
I got nothin'.
Honestly, the last relationship I was in ended late '06, and I've almost never been in a relationship through (coincidentally) Valentine's Day. That's not for lack of interest or high standards on my part, but for lack of interest from good women, lack of reciprocal interest by the woman I had interest in, or lack of testicular fortitude on my part. (Basically, I had a chance, but didn't know because I didn't have the balls to pursue further ... this happened once again less than a month ago, and the lady I was trying to start a relationship with ended up doing the same with somebody else because she got tired of waiting. Why can I face terrorists and gunshots and mortars and RPGs and IEDs for more than two years in Iraq, but I don't have the courage to confront a good-looking girl?)
Anyway. The last relationship I was in through Valentine's Day (which was in high school, mind you, in '01), I got my girlfriend a necklace with a heart and a rose on it. Not very expensive, since I didn't have much to spend, but it definitely worked. I had brought her roses on multiple occasions, so there was kind of a point to the necklace -- that's the trick, you can't just go out and get anything, because unless you're spending quite a bit on something extravagant, she'll wonder why you got her what you got her. There's always the sure bet -- teddy bears, chocolate, stuff like that -- but, in my opinion anyway, the best gifts are (as has been said) those that come from the heart. (Even though some teddy bears are good for this.) Get something for her based on how big your heart is for her, not how big your wallet is.

Finally you come on here you bastard!!!! You need to post around here more. Good to see you around though. ^^
You know, I barely had realized that Valentine's day is coming up this week. This is the first time I have gone without a Valentine as far as I can remember. I'm loving being single as of now. My mind has been on other thoughts then wanting to be in a relationship. However, there is someone in mind over here that I'm wanting to be my Valentine for the day....
But anyways, what does she like first of all? Get her something that she'll like dude. And something that would be coming from your heart like DarkIrvine had mentioned. I say be creative with what you're gonna get her as well.
Aww. Well... Gifts depend on your budget. The main gifts to go for if you're low on money are: a bunch of flowers, a box of chocolates or a teddybear.
Or, if you'd prefer to take her out for a meal, do that. Don't make it fast food, but don't make it too formal. You're only young, and since you said you've always spent it alone, I assume you haven't been together for a year yet.
That's my opinion.
Gift wise, instead of the stuff above, you could get her a DVD or a game she's wanted for a while. Those types of things are appreciated.

Thats pretty much it, get her something that will mean a lot to her. Don't just follow everyone else and get her only some roses/chocolates etc (they're best when they come with something else, like a romantic meal XD), thats boring in my opinion... and i like roses (if you couldn't tell already), so its saying something coming from me XD. Presents in general are better when you know some thought has gone into them, regardless of what day they were bought for XD
Cooking something good is always nice, especially if you know what her favourite foods are... which you should, being in a relationship with her and all . Its a good day to be as extravagant as you possibly can XD.
Can't really remember the last time i was in a relationship over valentines day, i'm used to being by myself now though so it'll just be another day for now, as far as i'm concerned.
Hope everyone has a nice valentines day, even though its 4 days off.

Me and my boyfriend don't like to buy our presents on holidays that have little or no meaning to us, but we do make eachother a little something special. This time around, I made little heart shaped cards, and on each of the cards I wrote down one thing that I love about him, or one good memory that we have together. I cut those cards up, and hid them in an everyday place like in a jean pocket or his wallet, so that when he finds them it'll be a surprise
♫ When you're gone, how can I even try to go on ♫
When you're gone, though I try how can I carry on
That's always really sweet. My father used to do that with my stepmother, though I'm not sure if he still does, and he wrotes a poem. He'll write the first verse (or whatever the hell it's called, hell, it's been half a decade since I worked with poems) on a card and put it somewhere that she'll see as soon as she wakes up. He knew her routine, so every step of it, she'd find the next verse of his poem -- on the mirror when she woke up, in the cabinet with the coffee cups, under the remote, next to the pet food, stuff like that. I've never done it, or had reason to, but I'm thinking that it'll be a good idea for when I finally do get into another serious relationship.

I hate this ****ing hallmark holiday so goddammed much. I don't even realize why I acknowledge it's existence with a post in this thread. Every ****ing year some dumbshit sends me roses or candy, I find out who it was and freakin burn it or force them to ingest it down their throats. Yeah. Try swallowing roses, thorns and all.
Valentine's can bite me.
I remember when you were happy with a RADISH.
I don't really know why Valentines Day is so hated.
I've never loved the day, but I've never hated it, either.
This year, I won't physically be with my love on that day. But when I go to see him, we'll be making those days that we're together and giant celebration in itself. I've never thought it had to be a special day just to tell somebody how much they mean to you.
I'd make my boyfriend something special regardless of the day.

All joking aside, you don't have to break the bank on this day. If your girl truly loves you, she'll be happy with anything that you do, so long as she knows you put some effort into doing it. If you buy her something, make sure it has some kind of significance to the both of you, but especially to her. Like, instead of going with roses, go with her favorite flower, just to be different. Instead of some box of candy, find out her favorite chocolates and get those. Cook her whatever meal you guys had on your first date (unless it was mcdonalds haha. in that case, cook her favorite meal). You don't have to be perfect because it'll be perfect to her so long as you put in some effort and make it personal and special. Girls are funny like that. If you remember the little things and do the little things she loves, it's pretty hard to screw it up... unless she's a complete bitch, then I've got nothin.

I have a job interview on Valentine's Day lol >_>'. But I'll diffinitely do something nice for my boyfriend through I'm not sure what to give him, since this is our first Valentine's Day together. Maybe we'll go out to dinner and I'll treat this time. Either way with him Valentine's Day has some meaning for me and him now.

Cut our a piece of your heart and give it to her,jk. I've never gotten anhthing for vday because for some reason all my relationships end right before it. But I would suggest something romantic, like a romance movie at home with her and a single rose and maybe something that she will like or use? I know thats probably what I owuld go for. Its nice to see a guy show his sensitive side. good Luck.

Something personal is really nice. Sure you can take her out to dinner, buy her nice flowers, chocolates and stuff. I'm sure that she'll appreciate it but it doesn't hurt to be creative sometimes. Girls love it when a guy cooks a special dinner for them. My fiance did that for our anniversary and my birthday.
If you don't cook but like to draw, maybe make something personal. I painted a custom picture frame for my fiance for his bday last year and he truly appreciated it (though I didn't like my drawing >_>)
To be honest, it really doesn't matter what you give if it comes from the heart and you spend that time with that special someone.
I also like that poem story. It's really nice.
Also for singles out there, Valentine's shouldn't be only for couples. Tell someone you care about how much you love them. Your parents, sisters/brothers, friends, grandpa etc.
Ah, Valentines day..
I've thought about this, and realised.. The only thing that I've ever done for Valentines day?
When I was ten, a boy yanked a daisy out of the school garden and put it in my lunchbox. I thought he was cute. And we 'dated' [Read - Held hands a little and sat together in class] for about three days. Oh joy. XD.
I've been on this site since 2006 woah
Only thing I ever got from a boy on Valentine's Day was a heart-shaped card in high school saying "I love you Ann!" who eventually became my boyfriend, but it was one of those highschool-only relationships, so it didn't last. This Valentine's Day, I'm just going to fill up on a ton of chocolate, hopefully. Chocolate FTW.
Valentine's Day... I've never done anything for V-Day. I can't see myself doing anything this year. Maybe next year or the year after. Only time will tell, I guess. I don't really have anything against it, but honestly. A day dedicated to Vincent would be so much cooler than a couple of dead people. But hey. Whatever floats your boat. ^^

Valentines Day isn't really my thing. I've never given anything to anyone. Well this year I bought my boyfriend a card but we broke up.
I usually get stuff though, which is surprisingly. Like roses and chocolate. Yay chocolate is win.
I don't know what I will do for Valentines Day yet because my relationship status is so screwed. Hopefully it works out though.
Hah, I haven't been in a relationship come Valentine's Day since I was in high school. For the last "date" I had for V-Day I just cooked the two of us dinner, and it wasn't even on V-Day.
This week at the restaurant should be good. Thursday night we have a packed house with VERY few seatings left and we're all expecting Saturday to be really good, so even if I DID have a date this year, it would have to be done on Wednesday, my only night off this week. xD
I'm doing something pretty simple for my girlfriend..
I'm baking her cookies, and bringing her roses (Which are her favorite flower too, so yeah. ).
Tip: Any douche can call an order reservations, but it takes a real man to actually cook/bake something. =D

usualy women (and men alike) will drop hints through out the year, if you pick something a while ago she will be very greatful that you listened to her. that is if she hasnt already gotten one since.
i plan on buying my wife a new digital camera and taking her out to the "melting pot" and the possibly a movie.

I find it's taken way to seriously. Although, it is that one special day when you can really go all out for youe significant other. I enjoy it, to an extend. Although I currently have no significant other, I still buy (or make) some special cards for my friends and family.
Besides, it's like.. free chocolate day. A plus for me.
Jewelry is always a good choice but then again that can be expensive. Flowers are always a lovely gift to get, not necessarily roses since they are also expensive but you can buy other flowers which are as nice and not as pricey. A box of chocolates is a good gift but something personal is always a great choice as previously stated. Taking her out for a dinner is a great idea, a nice little restaurant where you can enjoy yourselves.
Hope you work something out.
I do nothing at all. I intend to sit at home doing homework, occasionally calling a few friends to bother them when I get bored. That is all.
You however should just spend the day with your girlfriend doing whatever you feel like. Be nice the whole day and eat a whole bunch of chocolate. Maybe get her some flowers if you want to look like the traditional guy. Just be nice and do anything that doesn't include fried foods, fast foods, annoying people, or vomit.
GET HER A TEDDY BEAR! Those are cute and cheap. Jewelry is cool too...if you've got the money to actually buy it. If not, a little teddy, some candy, and maybe flowers should do the trick. But take Meier Link's advice if you really want to impress her.
Ugh...Valentines' Day...>_>...Even though I do have a boyfriend, I still hate this day. It's tainted for me >_>
Anyways. Just get her a nice card and a bunch fo red roses I'm sure she'll love it And tell her you love her...which may sound cheesey, but hey, that's Valentines' Day. A whole mass of cheese. . You could also get her some Chocolates, though I'm sure the roses would be nice enough. Just don't go all out on money and stuff.

So..uh..figure this goes here.
Had an early vday, as I wont be seeing her much tomorrow..were going to see a play, but thassit.
Today she came over..I spent all day baking cookies for her, also got 3 roses in a vase, and card.
I wrote a LOT in the card..she really love it..it was enough to spark the first kiss..such a brain emptier..but man it was awesome, lol.
Anywhos, yeah. :3

Haha, my V-Day was poooooop.
I spent 11 hours completely non-stop cooking. Had a retarded amount of prep to get done, and pre-portioned a lot of my retarded entrees that I sell entirely too many of and doing a lot of basic mise-en-place to get ready for 200 covers.
We ended the night at 11:00 PM and did 182 covers.
Thus making this the worst V-Day evar! Was the busiest night of 2008 thus far, and that includes New Year's Eve.
I was retardedly stressed, went out drinking after work, just got home from my favorite bar. =D

Mine was just really boring. I had chocolate, though, so that makes up for it. And I talked to Nathan online.. and played a bit of Heart of Darkness, an old psx game I liked and still like.
