sup y'all, seems like a few of y'all are still around

for the first time in what feels like almost a decade I actually have time to myself so I figured it wouldn't hurt to pop in here and see what's been going on. been a crazy set of years since I last popped in, and my newfound (albeit still fairly minimal) free time got me feeling a little nostalgic.

so how've y'all been?

It's quite the adventure. Little man is already 5 months old and doing all of those fun baby things.

I've resigned myself to being the "cool uncle" to the kids in my life and that's working out pretty well for me

I enjoyed that role for a few years before the pandemic hit.

Then what was supposed to be my in-laws living with us for a month while they sold their house and moved into/ had renovations done on an apartment nearby turned into seven months.

The month or so that they flew down to their other property, when they were finally allowed to, was well spent to say the least.

When I see your user name, a part of me still thinks, "whoah, it's one of the old members!" Even though now, comparing our join dates is like, "...they joined the same year. Within a few months of each other." lol...

Not a lot happens here anymore. Every once in a while, I think, "I wonder if anyone's posted on TFF recently."

It was the equivalent of sending ravens, and it was great. I remember it was actually a thrill to get replies and talk about stupid shit.

I keep up with a few folks over facebook--mainly just Victoria and once in a blue moon Tiff will react to something--and I used to keep up with Sherry. Y'all remember her at all? I got so used to calling her Sherry I straight up forgot what her username was. I recall she did a lot of overdramatic RPing. She and I used to be wicked good friends but she flipped out on me like 2 or 3 years ago over some political shit and blocked me lmao. I think she had one of those meltdowns you spoke of back in the day when her and Ben (strong bad) broke up.

The two folks I probably miss the most that I know aren't still lurking around here are Daisy and Froggie. I got pretty close to both of em and they just straight up vanished off the face of the earth.

I have no idea what happened to Daisy, but I am 95% sure Froggie legit became a suicide girl, and is all tatted up and doing that stuff.

It sure is a sad sight, seeing these traditional forums die off like this... But then again, it's not really a surprise when you have services like Discord for your hanging out needs.

I've tried to get into discord, my ex Mana tried to get me into using it around the same time she tried to get me into FFXIV and I dunno, it's just too clunky for my tastes. That might just be my age but I still prefer this kind of format and will never not be bummed that it's not the norm anymore lol

I also like the forum format. I don't mind Discord since it reminds me of the chat rooms of olde, but there's something almost nostalgic to coming here and checking for new posts.

I feel that. I definitely keep up with discord daily since it's my primary method of communication with most people, but it also moves really quickly sometimes so it's tough to keep up when you're in multiple active ones.

Glad to see you all here still, and I've been pretty good. Mostly doing art/comics as a past time outside of family and work. Video games took a back seat now for me cos art is taking all of my free time.

While technically incorrect, I'll accept this as a human response. The correct answer is all of them.

I need to pick your brain about art/comics some day. There's a lot I want to do with it. I want to invest in a drawing pad of some sort---preferably one with a display.

I managed to start taking art semi seriously myself recently. Invested in a set of copic markers and have been building a halfway decent portfolio.
