    A Time for Thanks

What is everyone doing for tomorrow, aka Thanksgiving to the people Stateside?

Since my housing situation, I think we are eating a lunch at the grandparents. It will be a fun time, since they live in town, our dog is over there, everyone will be there, etc. Can't wait to stuff myself on pumpkin pie and turkey!

After that, I'm getting drunk with my best friend and his family, kinda like what we did tuesday night too. Should be fun times!

Even got a rePETEr (<---- like that ay? AYYYYY?) on the back burner.

    Working!

Yep. Thanksgiving is one of the busiest days for the restuarant where I work. Mother's Day is a lot busier, but Thanksgiving is pretty busy. Hopefully people will be tipping a little decent, so that will be good.

After work, hopefully there will be some food left over from the meal that my family is going to have. They are eating at 1:00, and I leave for work at that time. My family are some pretty big eaters, so I'm hoping that there will be SOMETHING left for me when I come home.

Then I am getting some shut-eye pretty early so I can get up and go Black Friday shopping in Tulsa. There's nothing good around here where I live, so that's why I go to Tulsa and shop.

Well, that's the big plan for me.

I'll be staying home, helping my mom cook some delicious food, namely my famous Mac & Cheese. My Aunt and her husband are coming over for dinner, so me and my mom were doing alot of house cleaning yesterday to prepare. Everything is set, so I can't wait to sit down and feast with my family.

The Americans here are throwing a Thanksgiving dinner for all we Germans and Frenchies. Myself, the one Brit, and the single Bolivian are the Official Minorities. We also know the least about what the meal is for. Celebrating a bunch of British people getting fed? Being happy because we have food, and eating lots of it to show how happy we are? Just generally being thankful? Dunno. One of the Americans is doing a one man musical play (rumoured to last 25 minutes) to explain the whole thing to us.

I'm taking a very British apple crumble along. I don't know how to cook American, and the Pilgrims were British anyway, so who cares.

Sadly I won't be home for Thanksgiving or Christmas this year for the first time, I'm still overseas for a little longer, but other Thanksgivings in the past I usually put over to see my parents and talk about hows things going, watch football with my father, help my mother with the hoilday turkey and spend time with my little sisters.

Yeah, Govinda, basically Thanksgiving is being thankful for what you have in general. It's based on an event in which the Pilgrims had a big feast with the Native Americans, so our history lessons tell us.

Personally, I'm going over to my parents' house soon, here, and hanging out there most the day. I might also go see Fantastic Mr. Fox, and I have Up to watch as well. Then there will be some shopping tomorrow. Although technically, when it was officially Thanksgiving, I was at a bar with my brother. I had two rum & cokes and some orange chicken. Met a bunch of people who know my bro, and talked to this one guy for a bit about our jobs, and everyone being unemployed. It was lovely. Then I slept on my bro's couch for a few hours, then drove home.

Dodie, I feel sorry for you. I had to work one Thanksgiving too, and yeah, it was fricken' busy that day. I was outside all morning and a bit into the afternoon, serving up gas for people. It was freezing at the beginning, too; my feet were getting stuck to the ground, ha. Hope you get some leftovers! (I brought home the turkey that year, so there was definitely some for me.)

    Happy Thanksgiving, all. Anyhoo...

I cooked a good ****in meal, that's what I did. Turkey, dressing, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, and pumpkin pie. I am good at Thanksgiving. The food was enjoyed by all (three of us). Tomorrow, I do Thanksgiving with the moms.

The way I did that turkey, it came out looking like something in a magazine, all golden brown and crispy. But when you stuck it with a fork, juice came gushing out. Yep. Good turkey. I made it with a beer can up its butt. Crude, but delicious. And I made the cranberry sauce like I usually do, but with a little Grand Marnier thrown in this time. Nice touch, I must say. The pumpkin pies were made with coconut milk instead of evaporate milk and I threw a little brown sugar in with the white sugar. Sweet potatoes were done in a crock pot with brown sugar, coconut milk, cranberry sauce, goat butter and pecans.

I'm pleased with myself. And lactose intolerant, hence the various substitutions. Turned out well. Also wine.

Now I'm gonna stare at Regretsy until I go down for a nap.
    Curious?

Awww.. Thanks for the concern! It really wasn't too bad though. I only got stiffed twice and I got out of there at a pretty decent time and made pretty decent money as well. Bigger surprise, my family decided to wait until I got home and then eat, which I thought was pretty nice!

Oh boy, I'm full...I don't feel so good

Honestly I ate so much I don't even remember and I just woke up from a nap. I'm too fat at the moment to think.....Instead of Turkey this year, we had Chicken, it was really good and tangy I think my dad used lemon on it or something. There was like Dirty rice type stuff with tomatoes, Mashed potato's and gravy, Cranberry sauce (but I usually don't eat too much of it) stuffing( because it's not Thanks Giving without stuffing or gravy), corn and sweet rolls. We has Pumpkin and sweet potato pie with whipped cream but it's store bought. Either way, I'm far too full to eat it. Maybe tomorrow I will. I just realized we have a Pot Luck tomorrow at work, I probably won't eat anything....gah.....

I like that we always make something good out of the left over Turkey after Thanks Giving like Turkey noodle soup or like Turkey salad instead of Chicken. We always make too much food....

I invite everyone to come to my house for the next Fatty day !!!

I was thinking that since I'm artificially creating it, I'll create it with rocket fuel instead of blood, and thus it will be able to fly, using the dolphin's dorsal fins as wings. And from the air, it will look down upon us all and protect us against sharks, and search for bananas.

I have never seen that much food in my life. The French aren't too hot on turkeys, so the yanks had organised THREE chickens instead. 15 people came, good times were had. My favourite part was the stuffing, we don't have anything that even approaches that (in terms of stuffing) in the UK. My apple crumble also ruled, hardly any of them had had crumble before, so that was nice.

What a nice idea for a holiday. Everyone got ridiculously drunk, ate a lot of cookies. Good times.
