Is it time to consign rage comics to the dust bin of history?

I'm sick of rage comics. They've reached saturation point. You can't go on the Internet without seeing one of them. Every time. Without fail. People 'penning' them have got nothing funny left to say. The only shred of originality left is to find a new picture and add 'le' to it.

Don't get me wrong. I appreciate them in that each face succinctly expresses a certain emotion or reaction or whatever. I'm just sick of the saturation, and especially those four-tile comics where the idea appears to just be to chuck in as many as possible without making any sense whatsoever. Like this:

    Everyone rage about rage.

le I don't know what le you're le talking about alpha le ragecomix are forever funny

They'll go out of style eventually, and then be picked back up in about twenty years by people trying to be ironic, and then they'll re-surge in popularity, much like 80's and 90's trends are doing today.

Once fads get started, I believe they last for a century or so, and that's all memes and rage comics are. Fads.

I think when done well some of them are really funny, but some of them, like the example you posted aren't very funny. I don't really mind them. They will eventually become boring and fade away but for now I think they're here to stay to be honest.

This is one funny... and truuuee!

    I liked all of these.

There are a lot of crappy comics in this style, but I gotta admit that I like most of them.

    Also,
You can't deny 4chan's influence on internet culture.
It was going to happen anyway, 4chan just made it happen 4 years ago rather than 10 years in the future.

Muahahaha... they still haven't figured it out.

Why do you think they're titled... "RAGE" comics?

We gave the internet cancer, just for fun.

I don't mind these comics. I lurk on FunnyJunk (shuddap, I like the layout of the site! ><), and they use a lot of rage faces on the content they upload, but eh. Still amusing to me. The only time it gets on my nerves is when the comics are like....2352216 panels long and there isn't funny at the end. :/

I can confirm, yuss. She likes to waste her time. jk (as if I don't.)

My friends like these comics. They're always talking about them. Especially the stuff off Memebase or Comixed; not sure which they get these from. I generally don't look for them, but I don't mind them either. Whatevs. I even like the pictures of animals with the sully captions on them still. I will plague your Facebook news feed with them. Anyhoo...

Rage comics are definitely just plain fun to laugh at. Especially when they are about every day situations and then you say: "So I'm not the only one who feels that/sees that/thinks that!" Hahahaha!

The ones I stumble on on 9GAG and Comixed usually go through rating filter, most of them are good and I get few decent laughs out of them.

This comic makes sense, it's funny. A screwdriver is an alcoholic beverage with orange juice and I think vodka. Also, he's so far gone in "deal with it" mode that when he takes off his shades, there's a pair underneath. It's especially funny because I identify with that comic -- my wife had to deal with it 24/7.

I don't mind them, and I've not tired of them yet. I feel like I waste my time if I look over a poor example of one, but then again, I was most likely wasting my time on the Internet in the first place. Internet is a place to waste time.

So prepare to waste time lol. I'm only posting because I'm waiting at work for the boyfriend to finish, and had two hours to kill because my DS ran out of juice.

The internet has lost the appeal that it once had. As somebody has been using the internet since 1998 everything has gradually gotten worse and worse and this thread is a good example of what is killing it.

As someone who started using the internet in the 80's,
    You are dumb.

The existance of the internet continues to change humanity. Nothing is killing it, you just need to get out of your house.

Exactly the type of person I am directing this at comes out of the wood work and uses the exact same type of response that those people like to use.

The internet at its core is the same but the trash that is spewed out has become much more apparent with sites meme spouting something to saturation points. It doesn't help with the creation of facebook and all the vapid morons it seems to attract.

I appreciate your smarmy response, it will help guide me toward the path of being more polite, liking myself more and accepting others as human beings who will make mistakes.

Also, I forgive you for trying to defend your horribly indoor existance by insulting me.

This is all very good for my 12 step program to becoming an acceptable, racially empathetic and mild-mannered member of society.

meme's and rage comics will never be old, because the internet will always be new to someone, and more and more things will be meme'd later (with lots of repeats of old meme's with new pictures)

Re: Is it time to consign rage comics to the dust bin of history?

I honestly think they'll juice the hell out of these rage comics. Everyone will get sick of them eventually. They do tend to depict things that everyone can relate to. They are putting memes to everyday life. New things can happen eventually, and they will get old. As for when, who really knows.

I wasn't a fan of them when it started. It kind of grew on me. Now I tend to find myself reading them, but not for long. I waste too much time on the internet.

That is completely true. This one was also my favorite, so I felt the need to repost it since the rep system is being a douche bag right now. I guess I've seen these kinds of comics before, but I didn't know they were called 'rage comics'. Some of them are funny, some of them are stupid, and some of them are a bit of both (IMHO).
