You cannot get pregnant if the sperm is not injected directly into the vag from the peni.....internally. Sperm cannot survive outside of the genital areas. Things can still get in or out of a vagina if the hymen is intact. It would be awkward if girls had to have sex (hence breaking the hymen) in order to start menstruating...
