Strict Rules

I've been lurking on Gamestop forum for quite some time, the other day I finally decided to register, been posting ever since then. Today I got a notification that I'm temporarily banned, and the reason for it couldn't be more hilarious. I got banned for merely mentioning a NES rom, that's it, the founder of the thread asked me if there's such a rom, I confirmed it and that's all I did, I didn't provide any kind of link but I was still banned.

Guess some forums have harsh rules, makes me appreciate TFF even more. Has any of you been in similar situation, what for were you banned, and what do you think about TFF rules?

I have been banned once. It was from a Naruto Discussion forum. Apparently I pissed some people off, and they din't like it. F*ck em.

The TFF rules are not to strict. The mods, and Admins are pretty chill about a lot of things. Unless you pretty much troll someone they don't get pissed off. Remember once I pissed off Meier for trolling, not a good day haha.

I've not been banned anywhere. I think this is the only site I've ever received warnings on, but that was way back in the day... haha, "The Warning Collector". xD;

This place has changed a little since though, and I've grown up a little bit. I don't think I've joined a stricter forum than here though - everywhere else I'm at has so much traffic, the moderators can't keep up with it and slack off on the rules a bit.

I bet they mention that you can't talk about warez and stuff. Oh, and the fact that ROMs themselves are illegal. Even if you have the actual cart and stuff. (Well, I know someone with that point of view, anyway.)

Well of course, you acknowledged that there is a Rom thus they assume you use them which is illegal unless you own the original copy.

I guess you're right, I should have read the rules first, a noob mistake right from the start. I don't blame Gamespot either, if that's within their rules than fine with me, I certainly learned my lesson.

I just find it hilarious to be banned for confirming ones assumption, which leads me to Loaf's post, that's just wrong thinking on their side. Guess I better get used to strict rules.

I don;t think TFF's rules are too strict, I've not been banned from a forum before, but I got a warning on here once, it was all my own fault for not reading the rules tho, I did deserve it and I've not made the same mistake again

I've been warned a couple times on one forum for swearing - the second time I even asterisked out the words and still got done for it. In the end though, if it really bothered me enough I could just go elsewhere. Vote with your presence I figure - if no-one sticks around they'll be more likely to notice something's wrong with their rules/actions.

I got warned once here for posting POLK in a post. Just a warning for spam and I completely agree with that warning. I never been banned from a forum before but my memory only recalls me joining this one =O

No, Cesar is right, it was SU. I was banned for something like a week because Erwin Rommel stumbled upon our Cult of Kefka thread while looking for something else and informed Fewyn (and probably Hobbes) that I was expressing my dislike for them here. Apparently that was a bannable offense.

The only other forum I was on was Kuponut, and there were far less active members than here.

They hardly gave out any warnings, they would just give you a slap on the hand and say don't do it. I guess i just wasn't bad enough lol I only got in trouble once, and it was me announcing I was peacing to here lolol

I haven't been banned from a forum but i know of a few sites i don't like. khinsider forums are full of idiots and zeldauniverse isn't that great either. I've had not so great experiences with those sites in the past.

I just troll on ZU nowadays, I once posted a tingle appreciation thread there and it was removed. I also create topics in the future zelda forum that had to do with "good" ideas and i would be all sarcastic about what they were and everyone would be like: "this is the worst idea i've ever heard blah blah blah."

I've never been warned anywhere to my recollection. I've gotten stern talkings-to on occasion, but never been given an official warning. Even if I've thought I deserved one from time to time, heh. I have been banned. Because I asked to be banned. (I used to have a screen shot of it, but it's gone now, apparently. Probably never got brought over from my old computer.)

There is this one forum I visit from time to time where they got mad at me for typing the word "ass" and edited it out of a couple of my posts, even though they didn't censor that word and they censored every other "swear word," so I thought it was okay. They don't like me very much there I don't think, haha. Anyhoo...

I've been to plenty of forums... I don't recall ever being banned...ever. I've been warned, but only here. That's no reflection on this place as I've been here the longest. And frankly, I've been through some weird shit here but I'm still around. I was at EAGB, back in tha day. The others weren't memorable. And the ones I still frequent are related to religious and professional choices and no misbehavin for me.

I was banned from a Naruto forum three years ago for spazzing out in the Chat Box. It was in a thread and I wasn't using any profanity or breaking any real rules. I was just enacting a pokemon battle with another member. We both got banned for "violence" (the most violent thing I typed out was "CHARMANDER UZEZ TEH FLAMETHROWER AND TURNS YOUR MAGICARP INTO A FRIED FILET") and "disturbing the peace" (we were also the only ones on at three in the morning, so screw the invisible members who decided to waste time reading through our entire conversation).

I don't remember that. Should I have? But then again, since having my kid I have a hard time remembering what day it is. Although you'd think that would jolt my memory.

Okay, that's a lie. I did get into some trouble with a Mom's forum I'm on. I don't even know how it happened but this girl and I totally got into it with our different viewpoints on kids (hey, apparently they do things different overseas?) I remember it getting into some huge us versus them and she complained to the admins and they had to step in and place her on my ignore list (and me on hers) to try and keep the peace.

It worked. If I can remember why we got into it I'd say, but like I mentioned earlier, my memory sucks ASS right now.

It was something about forcing people to learn the language when they immigrate into a country. According to some people overseas, they should know the language before they immigrate. Or, have 3 months to learn it or they are booted. While I agreed that they needed to learn the language, I didn't believe in time restrictions. Not all people are fast learners, eh?

Anyhoo, yeah. That was our huge fight. Totally lame.

heh, i've never been banned from a forum before. I chalk it up to low post count and just generally not caring enough to be anything other than unnassuming. I think the extent of my devilish internet based mischief was getting a thread closed twice. It was kinda the same one, they gave us a second chance and boy did it not last. And that wasn't entirely me either so, shrug, yeah i'm a little lame.

I agree the rules aren't very strict here, the admins are more approachable than on some other sites (ie. they actually post here rather than appearing out of the woodworks to insta ban those who call winnie the pooh childish... don't ask. Really, don't) and they're pretty easy going all round.

I've never been banned on a forum before, and the only warning I have ever received is on here actually, but when I looked back on the thing I got warned for, I totally agree with it and it was stupid of me for doing so.
I did once however, get suspended for a week from Habbo Hotel (when it was cool way back when), which was for starting a big argument with some dude, which lead to some unsavoury things being said on my part, and I was reported for it.

I was also on one forum where you can get instantly banned for posting the 'lolwut pear' image, or linking anything to a certain website (I don't know the rules about mentioning this website on here, so I'm not risking it)

This forum is the worst with rules, I've been banned countless times....

At least when i was getting banned the forums were interesting, it goes to prove without a good side vs bad side, when everyone gets along with eachother, things get stale and predictable.

but still? Mentioning roms on a forum? Thats like mentioning your bag of crack in a police department...

I used to visit a Primus forum regularly, and there was I think one moderator total, who almost never banned anybody. So, whenever he did have to come in and do any form of moderating, all the older members would bitch about it.

I think this place is actually pretty lenient with the rules and bannings for the most part. I mean, look at me. I haven't gotten banned yet, and I'm a total asshole.
