Personally, I think it is awesome. Kind of funny how some people find it difficult to read "text/txt type" eh? Though I think I'm going to be sticking to normal typing, thanks very much. ^^;;

I find this halarious, not so much the fact behind it but the statistic posted as a disclaimer.

The article it's self is amusing, yet I must only know the 55% of people that can read it seeing I havent found anyone that can't read it outside of small children.

Seeing that the above sentance is apparently backwards the odds of me having to tell anyone that is slim to none. But when you throw a statistic to it.

Only 32% of the people in the world can read this:

It suddenly jumps off the page and makes people think they are special.

I have seen this used through out the years and it is funny how the statistic number changes over time.

Sorry to derail the topic at hand.

But as I said the over all concept of it is very interesting and it is amazing how the human mind can pull words out of nothing like that.

There's some dissention as to whether a simply mangled word and "text-typing" are similar. Recall that what that bunch of mangled words claim is that a typical human being can interpret the mangled word by simply reading the first and last letters of the word, and THEN assuming it's a word by comparison. Sucks when you have words that have exactly the same first and last word, AND the same words, but with a meager difference in placement (a minor occurence, but hilarious nonetheless)

However, that goes beyond the roof when you compare that to text typing, which relies on mnemonics and words that sound similar AND have a shorter way to say. Most people won't understand if you replace "ate" with "eight" and shortened it to 8; woe if the person DOESN'T read letters in English (ESL speakers, for example).

Still, it tells you that the human mind relies A LOT on mnemonics, one reason why brains are more advanced than computers. Or so I think...

I totally agree with the rating being a load of BS lol, but I just copied and pasted it. BUT there has got to be a little truth in it - me and my friend Grant tested our whole class, and just over half of them were able to read it without any help, or guidance. I know there are only... 16 people in my class, but the stat fitted. ^^
