Legal Weed is horrible, taste crappy and I'm told it causes heart problems.
Salvia? I've tried it many times, each time did nothing.
Has anyone here every experienced this shit. For those who don't know it is completely legal in the U.S. an doesn't show up in drug test. Now I am not pushing it, I am simply asking have you tried either and what was your reaction.
Me I thought that the tree's were talking to me after smoking Salvia.

Neither of these things really seem to give you the bang for your buck that the illegal counterparts do... not to mention doing something illegal just makes it more fun

One, Salvia is the genus epithet, sage... Just cause it says Salvia doesn't mean anything other than, it's sage. Now if some dumb **** comes up to you with a bag of plant matter and says: "This is Salvia." You can believe him, he probably really does think that's what it is and it may be. But unless you have the right Salvia it doesn't mean shit. I can eat a ton of Morning Glory seeds and it won't get me high unless...it's the right species, cultivar or variety, as the case may be.
TWO...even if it is Salvia divinorum or a derivative plant...it's best to smoke the extract, depending on how the plant in question was cultured may make the level of this delicious drug too low to notice.

I've tried salvia divinorum before. Since I don't use illegal stuff all that much, it had more of an effect on me then it did with anyone else in the group, but it was kinda fun to try lol. After taking a couple drags, I started laughing uncontrollably and felt like I was in a Looney Toons episode, it was a wierd feeling of surrealness and stuff haha. I made kind of a funny because when one of my sober friends was mouthing my name but I was hearing the name "Steve", so after two or three looks I exclaimed "Who the **** is Steve?" and everyone busted out laughing.
My humanities teacher was one time talking about the usage of salvia and how monks from asia tried some kind of salvia that was extremely potent, I think it was called black lotus or something? I'd like to get a hold of it sometime lol.

hahas, updated July 28th (oldie but goodie!):
I don't know about you guys but when i hit it my friends melted in front of me, then then the walls and it felt like i was sitting on a conveyor belt pulling me the opposite way and constantly moving my body forwards in an attempt to balance and all the while laughing my ass off.
But that's just me
We also let our friend take a hit of it without telling him what it was or done, we loaded it up and he took a big hit and within 2 steps he went from standing to the fetal position... Was pretty funny to say the least
It was funny for the few seconds it last but i would bother my arse with it again..
One of my friends tried it and he said he felt like he was a zipper being unzipped and the entire world was being split into two parts.
F U C K that.
People, Salvia just makes you insane.

Thank you for contributing to the thread.
Salvia is a misunderstood drug, I feel. Everyone talks about "I saw aliens! I WAS AN ALIEN!" or some shit, the experience is subjective for everyone so going into it with expectations will obviously disappoint. Doing it around other people or mixing with other substances is also a likely recipe for disaster. Salvia is best done alone in a quiet, dimly lit setting with no possible interruptions, or if it's your first few times, with ONE other experienced sitter who can make sure you don't fall and hurt yourself or break something and who can keep their damn mouth shut until you come back down.
I would say no to music on salvia, silence is really the best atmosphere. The best way to describe it is a disconnect from reality: your senses start to work in ways they normally wouldn't, and time seems to become irrelevant or last longer than usual (a 5-10 minute trip can seem like 30-60). Feelings of pulling or swirling are common, as is a feeling of the presence of another sentient being in higher doses (40x+). I personally have experienced synesthesia on it, I could feel tingling wherever light touched my arm and could sort of see sounds as colors? It also can have a paralyzing effect for the first few minutes of it, this is important to note as some people are taken off guard by this and start to freak out. You have to be willing to possibly part with motor control for a little bit on salvia, if you're not okay with this, don't do it. Best method of consumption is through a water pipe, as it burns at high temperatures and can irritate the throat before optimal dosage is gained.
As Sinister said, the extracts are where the "magic" happens. Regular salvia leaves don't do much but taste bad.
As far as Spice is concerned, I don't trust it. "Let's take some plant material, coat it with synthetic cannabinoid derivatives that haven't been subject to long term health tests on humans, and sell it on the internet!" The whole virtue of cannabis is that it occurs naturally, organically. These guys obviously missed the point.

I haven't tried salvia, but I was with some friends once when they tried it.
I wasn't going to try it then, as I was on antibiotics, and wasn't even drinking. I didn't want to risk anything with the antibiotics, so I just watched.
First of all, it seemed to work just like weed, although it almost seemed to work faster, but they were using a bong, when we normally use joints. They all became giggly, things became excruciatingly funny.
After a while, though, one of them became really angry. He even punched me in the chest, in a fit of rage. At this stage, another seemed as though he had come down, and the last guy was just quiet.
So varied effects, yeah. For the record, after that guy (who happens to be my best friend) punched me, they have sworn to never use it again. Regular weed, funnily enough, is probably safer. Yet another reason to legalise, woo!

Yea, lol...that's definitely extract.
I personally never tried it, though when given the choice, I've always been a fan of legal thrill rides. I don't do too much chemical experimentation these days, sadly. When I did, I had the rather bitter impression I was doing it for social reasons anyway. Me!? Social!? Yes, well...there was a time.
