So What Did You Think of 2011?

What were your highs and lows? Was it a good year or a shitty year?

Personally, I had a better time of it than I did in 2010. I didn't have any car crashes or a job that I hated this year, haha. Although I could've stood to have more work... which was the case in 2010 anyway. This year, I lost 30 odd pounds, and am in pretty much the best shape of my life, though. Bought a bass-which I always wanted to do-but I haven't practiced it much. Still living with my parents, though that looks to change the first part of this next year, possibly. Listened to a lot of new cool music, which made me happy.

I kept my one new year's resolution that made sense-I didn't change my avatar or signature all year. I also made the New Year's resolutions of "figuring it out" and "getting over it," which I have no idea what that even means, so I dunno if I made those or not.

Big events for me were the annual camping trip with my friends, finishing the Warrior Dash, running 9 miles, getting Skyrim (ha) seeing They Might Be Giants and Reel Big Fish (RBF for the first time, in fact) getting a tablet and drawing cool stuff, etc. I had some down times, but over all, probably a better year than 2010 for me. Hopefully 2012 is even more awesome. Anyhoo...

    Wuv, Yer Mom

EDIT: Here is the song for this situation, from one of my favorite bands, now back from the dead this year.

Re: So What Did You Think of 2011?

It was an okay year. Due to some financial reasons I had to transfer to a less prestige uni, still, everything went better than I expected. Some old friends decided to do the same and follow my steps, I also met some truly great people there. My brother got his dream job and bought me a drawing tablet, something I always wanted, my sister came back from Croatia and now has more time to spend with her family.

Highlight of the year was definitely me spending my summer vacations on this small beautiful island called Brač. I had a great time there, I even had privilege to attend to premiere of Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides in that place which by the way was awesome.

pretty good for me, despite all the moaning I do! Moved in with the boy, passed my driving test, went on a girly hol to turkey. Dont have to spend my savings on a car as Ive pinched said boys so now I have pennies I dont know what to do with

That sounds quite boring for a whole year lol... but I enjoyed myself at least, well inbetween walkign out of my job in a rage, but I went back... so it wasnt all that bad

Re: So What Did You Think of 2011?

Got a new job, started headlining in my live performances (rather than being a guest or opener), got into a serious relationship, reconnected with old friends from high school, made a bunch of new ones.... it has actually been a great year for me. I've been dealing with some standard mid-20s-freak-out-hopeless-wtfamIdoing-sadness, but I have a lot to be thankful for.

This year, I will record an album.
I will let boyfriend propose to me if all is still going well (he would have this year, but I asked that he wait for various reasons, mostly having to do with practical matters)
I will certainly move in with him
I will continue to focus on my health
I will travel out west again and up to NYC again

For those of you who are entertained by astrology, 2012 is the year of the Dragon in the Chinese zodiac which is TOTALLY my sign which means this year I'm gonna get rich, right? RIGHT?!

    Totally right.
    Curious?

Re: So What Did You Think of 2011?

Let's see, the year started out with me at home by myself, and will end in the same way. I learned that I don't need my brother and sister for help in taking care of my parent's house.

I played a lot of roles this year as well. Not only was I "Michael, the paper boy" or "Michael, the trilingual boy", but I also was "Michael, the Carpenter", "Michael, the Roofer", "Michael, the locksmith", "Michael, the mechanic", and "Michael, the lumberjack".

I finally paid off my computer, and then managed to break it three months later. I paid bills with my own money for the first time this year. I discovered TFF, and made some great friends here.

This year was the year that I was On My Own; but then again, not without help. I learned that your family and friends don't just say they will help you if you need help, they actually will help.

I believe that the worst in my life is behind me. It can only get better from here. Or, to put it another way...

2010 was the year my life changed.
2011 was the year I survived.
2012 will be the year I thrive.

Re: So What Did You Think of 2011?

Oh dear, 2011. What the hell have you done to my life, where have you BEEN all my life, and why does this year need to end? This was the best year of my life, contrary to popular belief. I have been through ups and downs, lefts and rights. Knocked down, picked back up, went through fire, trudged through ice and snow (If you don't believe me, read my journal. I mean literally and figuratively as well). I almost died and found life within myself. I found my fire and I'm planning to keep it going until I die of old age, or in a plane crash, or some silly phenomenon that I have no control over.

I found my ultimate passion, I know what I want to do with my life, and most importantly, I know who my friends are. My friends are the ones who have stuck with me 1000% of the way, and no, that is not a spelling mistake.

I was skeptical at first, but as soon as things started to happen, it was clear that this was the year of Change. That was stressed upon throughout the end of 2010. I stuck to my goals, stayed single for the year, did what I wanted to do, did what felt right, and now I'm here. I am wondering where to go from here? What is next in my ever so eventful life? How can I one-up 2011 in 2012? What will be different in 2012 that I didn't have in 2011. That's what I need to find. I conquered 2011 with some bumps and bruises, but I am here now, just at the edge of 2011 with my toes hanging over, and I'm ready to jump into the fire of 2012. Can you handle this?

Re: So What Did You Think of 2011?

I made lots of friends this year and got rid of a couple of shitty ones, not exactly revolutionary but it made a big difference in my happiness which is all good. I had a boyfriend, which started off fine, kinda turned sour in the end but we've managed to remain friends which is a good thing, as opposed to the guy I was going out with before.

I seriously improved on my singing this year which to me is a really good thing. It might sound silly to others but when you put loads of hours in a week to try and better yourself at something and then you can really see a difference afterwards (well, hear, I suppose) it feels brilliant.

Here's a trivial thing, I grew my hair out. I've been wanting to grow it out for a few years but never had the patience but this year I resisted the urge to have it chopped off and now it's nearly at my waist. This makes Halie very happy!

Also, I built a better relationship with my brothers (except for my eldest). Now that me and my brother work together we talk so much more and now I really enjoy his company, he's more like a friend nowadays. And my little brother, well I play with him a lot more and have more patience with him and I try to take him into town with me if I can so I can buy him stuff.

I can't remember if I made a resolution last year or not, or if I kept it for that matter. I think I said I was going to lose weight, which I sort of kept because I lost almost a stone in weight at the beginning of the year due to poor health and stress, but then put a little bit back on when I got better (not as much as before) and then lost it again for prom. Now I've put it all back again, but hey, it's Winter and I got two boxes of After Eights as well as two Vodka Ices in the fridge and it's been a similar pattern for two weeks now. What can you do if it's a gift?? You can't just throw it away, that would be rude.

    Happy apocolypse!
Also, it was a good year. I did a lot of good stuff. Plenty of goals realized and accomplishments checked off the list. Got a great job making great money right as 2011 came to a close. This coming year will be even better.

Re: So What Did You Think of 2011?

2011 was a great year. I directed and produced J. Edgar, which if anybody hasn't seen yet, I hate you. I also signed on to act one last time in a film called Trouble With the Curve, alongside the lovely and talented Amy Adams. Though I did say Gran Torino would be the last film I act in, and before that, Million Dollar Baby, Blood Work, and Space Cowboys, so I doubt it will be the last time I act.

I pooped 12 times in 2011, which is up 60% from 2010. My bowels are 81 years old and still healthy.

The only problem I had with 2011 was that this awesome guy Idiot With Hair turned out to be that douche Telegraph. I mean, seriously, what the ****.

Re: So What Did You Think of 2011?

My year had its ups and downs but over all it kicked the shite out of 2010.

Had a lot of good times with friends. Met lots of new and awesome people. Got to see a lot of the local bnd tallent here in Oklahoma. About got arrested 3 times in 1 hour but didn't.

Best part of the year was getting to watch my kids grow up into who they are now. They are getting so big but also to smart. Given this is an every year thing but seeing they make up 95% of my life its a given that theyare the main thing I focus on.

As far as bads there weren't to many. Got into a relationship that failed. Threw my back out. Had to spend 4 months working second shift which sucked due to the kids side of things. But things balanced out

. Got a new woman who treats me and my kids great, the new job this year, peace of mind and a butt load of good memorie that hopefully I won't ever share with my kids hahaha.

Looking forward to what 2012 has in store for the adventure that is my life.

Re: So What Did You Think of 2011?

It's been a pretty okay year for me. I hit two years with Victoria, I got a job after almost nine months of searching for one, discovered who my real friends were and met someone who I've been with for six months next week.

It had a few lows for me, one really big low as partly mentioned above, but everything worked out fine in the end, and I hope things work out fine in my 2012. Going to be a pretty big year for me.

It's helped me discover a lot about myself too. Work has made me realise just how much I hate other people. It's not everybody, but when you come into contact with hundreds and even up to lower thousands of people a day [on busy days], I become easily irritated by other people's problems, stress and excitement. Both colleague and customer alike.

Being in a relationship with someone has made me realise just how much time I don't get for myself. Tonight has been the first night I've been alone since... Thursday night. And I have to be up for work tomorrow afternoon, and I'm going in an hour early to have lunch with my boyfriend (he works mornings, I tend to get late shifts... gah).

I've become a better cook, even though I eat out a lot still. I've perfected my spaghetti to an A. Next time, I plan on adding crushed garlic and meatballs (unless I'm using quorn, which in my opinion, tastes better than beef in a spaghetti bolognese and makes you feel less bloated afterwards because it's not a red meat).

Also, I'm not as good with money as I thought I was. Spent shit knows how much this year. Still got my America Trip savings though, and that won't get touched until I get my lazy butt over there.

2011,eh..it was alright for me. I gained friends I never thought would ever consider being my friend,I lost the friendships of some of my best friends(their drama,i didnt want to be apart of it and they got ticked off at me,etc, etc),got my Drivers permit, had my heart broken more times than one, read many good books, etc. The really bad sides of 2011: About 6 people I knew died this year and it has been hard for everyone . Anyways,I am hoping desperately that I can spend more time with my friends, read alot more good books, keep my grades up,and hopefully get a job this year lol .

The same as I thought for 2011 and 2010 and 2009, 365 days of the same shite, ssdd

Ok but seriously The first half of the year was pretty slow but after that it feels like it sped up.

We moved house in November and were packing 3 months before hand a bit at a time.
We had some major work done at work new building etc but we usually have something going on each year.

My wife and I celebrated our fourth year anniversary.

My two eldest kids turned 5 and my youngest is now 3 Oh my gawd.

    2012
My two oldest started school this year I am so proud.
My youngest starts next year I think.

We topped 800 kids this year at work one of the biggest small schools in the region.
Other than that bring on 2012

Re: So What Did You Think of 2011?

2011 was a fantastic year. I turned 137, making me the oldest person in the world, and I had a total of 14 bowel movements!

2011 reminded me of 1996, because if you add 2, 0, 1, and 1 together, it's the same as if you divide 1 by 9 by 9 by 6, or so I'm assuming. Everything I say is right.

2011 also marked the tenth anniversary of 2001, which was an important year in American history, since that's when I had my first slice of pizza. So it was a good year.

Re: So What Did You Think of 2011?

2011 was a good year for me. I got my first car (being 20 years old at the time, a little late I know), My relationship with my girlfriend is going really well, 2011 was a staple in both our lives since we both got full time jobs and started working toward a future together. I saw my friends a lot and had my 21st birthday party which was pretty special since I could have all my family and friends in the same place. I was also happy about 2011 because my friends were doing really well at school and had goals for a change. Their success makes me happy. I won a holiday to the gold coast and took my girlfriend sister and one of my best friends since my sis was having a bit of a rough time and my mate had never been there before. Although my girlfriend and sister didnt take advantage of the rollercoasters, myself and Ben (friend) did as many rounds as we could on the superman and lethal weapon.

Since I started working full time, I've become more confident and more confortable with my family, whom I think i was starting to worry with my lack of ambition (and job for that matter) so family life is good. Sister has a boyrfriend now and hes a great bloke, happy for them both. Another great thing about 2011 was watching all the harry potter movies. I hadn't taken an interest after the second movie was released all those years ago (what the hell was wrong with me) and recently sat down and watched all of them, and then the final one at the cinema. Im glad I at least watched them in time for the last movie to be screened at the cinema, that way I still feel apart of it just like when I use to read the books as they came out as a child. A fantastic series, I encourage everyone to watch it especially if you like fantasy and why the hell else would you be here, haha. Joining TFF in feburary was also great, because I met some really great people. I love being apart of the community here, despite what I may have said in the early stages.

2011 was a good year overall. I can't remember anything bad happening. Im trying my best to avoid trouble these days and just focus on myself. Im striving to accomplish much in 2012.
