For people who are so against intolerance, you sure are showing a lot of intolerance towards the supposed intolerant. Nothing any of you are talking about has anything to do with the "beliefs of rednecks." Rather, it has to do with a group of southerners defending themselves from the accusations that they are rednecks. It's not their fault that the people making the accusations are some form of minority.

Not to mention that the term "redneck" is incredibly racist. That kind of makes it fair that they're apparently incredibly homophobic. It's like a continuous circle of intolerance. Interesting...

No frickin' kidding. I'm stuck in Harper, Texas at the moment and HOLY SHIT are people prejudiced towards EVERYTHING. They don't like black people, they openly bash gays and Mexicans... It's a f*cking madhouse down here. Small towns take a lot of bravery to be openly anything but straight white male. One of my girl's friends is raging gay. A year ago, it got out around school that one of my friends were bisexual. And he is, but he didnt want people to know and i couldnt take them saying stuff about him and talking about him behind his back, so when some of the kids in my class started started saying they hated him, i stood up in class and said "so what im bisexual too !!" everyone stopped saying stuff about him then. they never expected me to say something. Im happy they know. They stay away from me now.

I'm not debating anything. I'm neither taking any sort of side, nor am I making any sort of accusation. I'm just commenting on the irony of where this discussion is heading. You're discussing intolerance towards people who are 'different,' so to speak, such as yourself, yet by doing so, you are showing intolerance towards those people by utilizing blatantly racial slurs.

You assume that these people hate you because you're bisexual. From experience, the one thing that pisses me off more than anything is when people try to tell me what I think, as if they think they know me better than I know myself. It's condescending, and quite frankly, humiliating.

Has anybody ever told you that you tend to overreact?

I went to school in 7th and 8th grade every single morning on a bus that came out of the worst parts of the city. There weren't very tolerant people on that bus, seeing as I was one of only a few people who wasn't black. I was shown intolerance by the majority of the black kids on that bus, yet I don't go around calling anybody a ******, because I'm better than that.

The fact that I'm white had absolutely nothing to do with the reasons why I wasn't generally well-liked on that bus, just as the fact sexual orientation doesn't have anything to do with the reasons why these "rednecks" you keep referring to, are so intolerant towards anything that differentiates from their own ideals.

The undertone is a sociological tradition. In rural southern communities, the majority of the people are generally fundamentalist Christians or Catholics. Their religion states that a union should only exist between a man and a woman. Those are their beliefs, and they stick by them, which is quite respectable, and they generally don't hate you. More so, they just don't approve. Hate is against their religion. Disapproval isn't. Just as they don't understand your bisexuality, you don't understand them.

Needless, you don't need anybody's approval to state who you are. I may be a giant douche, but I do know what I'm talking about.

My point wasn't who does or doesn't deserve a racial slur. Nobody deserves a racial slur, because racism is ****ing retarded. Society and tradition vary between cultures, but people as individuals are generally the same.

My point was rather, why bother using racial slurs against these people? So they discriminate against you. You discriminate against them, which ideally makes everything balanced and fair. You apparently don't care if anybody approves or disapproves of you, yet that's difficult to see with all the stereotype hostility going on.

Yes, I know, it's a huge tl;dr list, but it proves a point. Defending these people's faith and decisions based on that faith when they barely adhere to it in the first place doesn't make much sense. Around here most gay women (or one of them in the relationship) is more butch and I guess dykish (now watch, someone is going to call me out for using the word dyke. I've heard lesbians use that word for crying out loud xD) than the other. BUT there are a lot of people too that are a gay (female) couple and you would never know because they both look positively feminine.

It is good to have the bravery to come out and confess something like that good job. I use to be kind of Bi-Sexual when I was 9-14 or so but never told anyone but my Sister who I am best friends and closest with.
I also have struggled with gender identity problems since I was 7 until now and I do not think that will ever go away either. I still truely want to be a woman I do not like being a man.


The thing with me though is I am now a born-again Christian as of February 14 2008 and homosexuality is a sin and transgenderism as well. So it puts me in a uncomfortable position; however I know the LORD JESUS loves me even with my flaws and I love him and want to do his will and feel him in my heart so I know he has not forsaken me.
