    Ostraya day!

**** yeah it's ****ing ostraya day. Get into the spirit.

All Aussies report in what you're doing on this blessed event.

Myself, I'ma have a couple of vb's and some snags at the lake, take me woman home, chuck on some Acca Dacca, whip on me bluey, beat her a bit then chuck on a pigskin and go for a pork.

Gonna be a good day mates.
    Anyone else some good plans?

What is Ostraya Day? I'm an American so I am obviously entirely ignorant to your entire culture. Sorry about that.

Meanwhile in the rest of the 'Western' world.

No offence, to Australians, but I find it a little strange to be celebrating the day when the British invaded Australia... Isn't it usually the norm to celebrate an Independence day?

Aerif that would be a valid point but for the fact that a lot of australians( most of them) are actually descendants of the "invaders". Aboriginees are probably right pissed at the notion of celebrating though.

Oh and happy "Ostraya" day to those of you that give a damned.

That's what I thought, and then I googled it last week and all I remember is this:

It's to celebrate the destruction of some kind of culture over there by the British Empire. Maybe the ruin of the culture was something good?

Anyway... I don't get it either. If someone came on my land and told me to grow my crops backwards, I'd shove my rake where the sun don't shine on them bastards.

It's like Columbus Day here, we celebrate the day some idiot accidentally found this place and began an accidental attempt at genocide upon the native people.

I'm not Australian, so I don't celebrate Ostraya day. I am an American though, but I still don't celebrate Columbus day.

The only thing I can think of that anything special happens for me on that day is that a lot of retailers have Columbus day sales and a lot of the federal buildings in my town are closed, like the banks. So even with the all the sales going on, I can't get my money out because the banks are closed...

Happy Australia Ostraya Day to all you Australians. Go drink some Foster's, toss some boomerangs, play some rugby, or whatever stereotypical activities you all love so much.

Let's go into the "archives" in "Washington D.C." and find out how people "masturbated" in the "roaring 20's."

Koalas only eat eucalyptus leaves. It's pandas that eat bamboo.

    Happy Australia Day!

I got up at 11am-ish after finishing work at just after 5am, looked at how many Australia day text messages I had, shrugged, hit mass delete, tried to sleep again, couldn't, had a shower at 11:30am, went to the pub, had a few TEDs, went to my mate's place, had a few more TEDs, left at around 2pm when his mum got home and started shrieking about something, lazed around, came online.

Probably the most boring Australia Day for me in ages.

EDIT: Also I think vegemite tastes shit personally. You like the stuff, or you loathe the stuff.

I went to the beach, Surfer's Paradise to be exact for Australia Day.. And I have some nasty sunburn to show for it. I had a lot of fun though. There were so many crazy people there.

I love Australia Day and I am going to miss it =].
