    Online personality

Yay another gay topic by me! Yeah I said it GAY come at me Phantom (I mean happy rainbow filled, I love gays.)

Ooh that gives me an idea for another topic. uh ohes.

Anyway, how do you think your online personality comes off/ differs, if at all, from your personality in person?

For the most part, I think I'm about the same, but I probably come off more cheerful online than normal. I think I'm much more chill and less hyper seeming in person, maybe. Oh and I use a lot more profanity and made up words ? *sgrugs*

Ps I also fumble my words just as much as I typo on msn :3 You love me It's not my fault though, Filipinos speak 239 miles an hour..er if speech was measured in distance.

EDIT: Was there a topic like this? I dun remember D:

I was thinking that since I'm artificially creating it, I'll create it with rocket fuel instead of blood, and thus it will be able to fly, using the dolphin's dorsal fins as wings. And from the air, it will look down upon us all and protect us against sharks, and search for bananas.

Depends on time of day, what day, how I'm feeling. I can be exactly like my online personality or I'll be the total opposite. But for the most part, if I know you, cool with you, I'm roughly the same online and in person, I'm just more nice in person.

    Re: Online personality

I come off much more antagonistic and confrontational online. Probably because I know my opinions may actually matter to some individuals (lol) and I won't be written off because of how I look, then I just get swept up in my own storm and my opinions become much more severe.

Also because the internet is overall a cesspool of meaningless junk and vanity I don't worry about long-term consequences.

    Re: Online personality

I can be a bit more confrontational online than I am offline. I tend to be quiet still, but if I see something that I'm against, I don't mind speaking up and letting it be known that I disagree. The anonymity of the internet makes it easier for me to talk and not worry that how I look is going to affect what I'm saying.

Other than that little tidbit, I'm pretty much the same. I tend to act younger than I actually am both on and offline, but I do try not to act like an idiot.

On the forums is about the same way I'd act irl with people I am friends with. If it's with people I don't know, I'm probably thinking it just not saying it. If anything, I'm a bit quieter and less flirty irl

    Re: Online personality

I'm less outgoing and less articulate in real life. It's easier to think of what I want to say when I have as much time as I need as opposed to a few seconds before it comes out of my mouth. I still like to sit and formulate what I want to say before I say it irl a lot of times though, so I miss the boat on the conversation a lot of the time (especially if a lot of people are involved.) I'll also just blurt out something stupid, though, if it's with friends, because I don't care. It's probably similar to talking to me on MSN. Although if I don't know you very well/don't feel comfortable around you, I might not talk as much/very much at all. Anyhoo...

Yes, in person I speak less "eventful" and keep a dark tone of voice.
Emo? I wouldn't say so, just, no sociable and would seem like the scary guy lol.

I'm pretty sure I'm a lot more sociable in person than on the forums. I'm definitely louder than I am on here. I think I at least sound more witty in person than on here, there is just something about typing text that looses a lot of humorous tone ya know? Other than that I'm pretty sure I'm the same.

I'm not all that different. I'm perhaps less confident and probably less social in real life though, but I'm still pretty talkative when you get me going. I'm probably a little more dirty minded in real life, but sometimes that might show through online when it's 'appropriate'. Regardless where I am, I always manage to kill a joke...

I'm more or less the same person then, I guess.

I'd probably say I communicate much more elaborately online than when in person, simply because I've found more of the interesting people are on the internet than out in the real world. Other than that, not much difference.

I think I am about the same irl, that I am online. The only difference may be that I am alot nicer irl then I am online. I tend to be a doucher from time to time online, but irl I am a pretty chill, and rather nice.

    Re: Online personality

Id say Im pretty much the same. I dont think I have any boundaries and that occasionally gets me into trouble. I think it was the upbringing I had, I grew up with lads, was always a tomboy work with blokes, so I am essentially a bloke with a pair of tits, and unfortunately that just spills out into every aspect of my life. I think its easier to be open online than irl - im more likely to be coaxed into discussing whats bothering me over text than in person but other than that, Im just the same. Oh I probably have less patience with people online than irl, I often wonder how people get by irl if they let things on the internet bother them so much

So yeah, i guess Im a little bit different than I thought I was... *strokes chin*

I have no qualms with discussing the solidity of my shits or my menstrual cycle with anyone.

    Re: Online personality

People tell me that I'm a lot more talkative on the Internet, particularly Facebook. I am forever commenting on other peoples' statuses, but I'm actually very quiet in real life. I'm better at writing instructions than I am explaining things, so I would say my posts/comments are a bit more articulate.

Hard to believe, but I'm actually less social on the net than in real life, I also tend to be serious, at least here on TFF, while I know to be goofy among those who I know well. The most important thing though is that I'm honest, both on net, and in real life.

I'm the same irl. I'm rarely serious, rarely actually angry, but I feign annoyance or some other state of being I don't really mean quite often. Mostly for the sake of humor. I get told a lot by people I meet irl that I am intimidating. Haha... idk.

Less interesting, less mysterious. Quieter. Not as funny(this one varies to the degree of how well I know you. Around people I am comfortable with, I can be very funny). Laid back. As one of my friends used to say, I have a violence problem. I can't get violent or angry, almost to the degree of a pathological problem. A little pompous, as yet another friend said. When I do talk, I'm never very serious unless it's an emergency and I have to be.

    Re: Online personality

HEY, I'm a total **** when I'm online. I love to play online backgammon and taunt the hell out of somebody, till the point they leave the table. The same with online Poker, which is more fun because it's for $$$. I love to take somebody's opinion too and tell them how bad it is, and then have them feel the need to write me a college length essay on their views on the matter even though I didn't really care to begin with. LOL. IT's funny! I once engineered a 40 page discussion on a Marvel board about how religion is for mindless tagalongs, that minorities actually have something wrong with them, and that poor people are ugly due to genetic inferiority! Of course I didn't really believe much if any of that, but you should have seen the responses coming back. And the beauty was, I phrased it so well that it sounded perfectly logical, non-inflamitory, and the mods didn't boot it for days and days. Funny as nuts! I wish I had saved it.

I'm quite opinionated, and can come off rather crass online because tones cannot easily be represented with text. I'm sure I've pissed off a few people on here with my bluntness, Tiffany in particular with my olympic opening ceremonies thread. Mostly because I go online to bitch, not share happy thoughts so all that gets expressed is concentrated frustration and anger. IRL I keep to myself quite a bit, avoid confrontation if possible. I'll still argue to the death with someone on a topic that sparks my interest.

    Re: Online personality

I get the feeling I'm more diplomatic offline. It makes it hard to gauge just how much people value certain things when you can't see them during a conversation.

Most of my personality is the same either way though, I do have a problem with feeling a (not particularly healthy for my own health) need to stick up for whoever I see as the underdog. IRL my size and intensity seems to make most aggressors back down pretty quickly, online I don't have that and I'm not as good with my words as some so it often backfires on me.

And yeah, I do have a tendency to occasionally go off on some random tangent online and off too, no idea what triggers it...

Online restricts me to be being less random cause i make noises and do random actions, otherwise i'm pretty much the same happy dude, another thing probably is in R/L i am a bit more blunt e.g something was bothering me last week rather than say i don't want to talk about it, i just said "My business is my business, your business is your business." Although they insisted so much they wanted to know to the point where i walked away haha.
