Right now I'm a photo tech for a large chain pharmacy retailer. It's not as exciting as it sounds. =X Not that retail ever is, hah. It pays the bills and gives me relatively good job security and that's about all I have it for.

I am tiring of this particular occupation and I'm preparing to give college a try, though not until the next semester most likely. Holiday overtime = money for classes. Though I am also keeping an eye out for another job, one outside of the retail world. I am just not suited to dealing with the public.

I just finished my second year of a Masters degree. As part of my degree, my third year has to be spent in France teaching teenagers English. I'm starting that job in three weeks. Recently I left my job at the airport, where I worked in an insane currency exchange which now has three members of staff left, out of 9 from when I was there. I'll be glad if I never set foot in an airport again. It was about £7.50 an hour though, so that made up for it. As a teacher, I'll only get 20 hours a week, but each of those hours is worth 20 EUR.

A student, which is a 40 hour+ affair, and effectively pays negative...

Day-to-day, I work as a cashier in a supermarket. Counting money, organising money into convenient amounts, telephones, doing the banking, etc (a LOT of etc). Pay is better than ordinary chumps, and I'm in a air conditioned cell room with seats.

Oh, and I get clean cutlery!

But I need much money, so I'm currently working (just some holiday job thing .-.). Hopefully in a few years I can say that I work as a teacher. x3"

I work as a waitress and I mainly rely on my tips for decent income. I get an hourly wage of $2.63, so tips are greatly appreciated! I was going to school to be a Graphic Designer, but those plans got put on hold for a while...

I plan to go back though, and hopefully earn that degree.

$2.63 an hour?! That's mental! Isn't there a minimum wage in America, a decent one? $2.63 is what, £1.35ish? How do they expect you to live on that? I apologise if I'm being offensive, I've been a waitress before and it's not an easy job...but that was for £5.45 an hour (about $8.50). Anything less and my employers would be in shit.

Do you have a union? Strike until they raise it!

I thought waiting tips were calculated into what you earn, over in the US. So the employers can cut salaries all they want.

    But $2.63 is really NOTHING.

We get more Euros an hour for babysitting over here...

I think she has to claim there tips
And she probably makes shit ton in tips and only claims alittle

    Like my job.
    I make 25K in tips a year.
And claim a 75 cents an hour.

So that makes up for working under miniume wage.

I'm a substitute janitor. If the janitor is sick, he or she calls me, and I work in his or her place. Generally speaking, I get okay to nowhere near enough hours, but lately, I've been filling in for a guy who's been hurt. He has been hurt a lot, he's been trying to find another job, they don't really like him much when he's there, and they like me, so I have my fingers crossed that I will get his gig. As a sub, I make $11.50 an hour. Temps make like $13.60, so if I got on full time, I'd be looking at a $2 increase (at least) and benefits for the rest of my life... if I want to be a janitor for the rest of my life...

And I don't, really. I want to go back to school, for... something. I'm not sure what. I have an Associate of Arts transfer degree, which I'm not sure what to do with. Mostly I want to go back to school because I miss that feeling of discovery; of learning something new. History, Philosophy, Writing, Art, etc. That was all very interesting. That, and janitorial seems like a dead end job... though I could become a head custodian, and have to worry about everything! (I'm not kidding...) Anyhoo...

I moved to Delaware a few months ago, and somehow managed to snag a job working on an assembly line at one of the many DuPont plants. I make $14 an hour on week days, and a $30 bonus for weekends. Why some people skip out on the weekend bonus is beyond me. I'm using the money I make working for DuPont to pay for me to go to college in order to get a higher paying job at DuPont. Luckily I finished paying off my classes before I had to pay full price for health care, because now I wouldn't be able to afford it.

Aside from being a full-time student in college, I work as a specialist with kids that have special needs. I work with all types of children, with those that have mental retardation, down syndrome, cerebal palsy, autism, and so on. The pay isn't the best but it is a job that I absolutely enjoy doing and I'm hoping to get into later on in life.

I'll admit that things can get kinda stressful when I work a minimum of 32 hours a week on top of going to school full time, but I'm making enough money to work on my college loans and I am also getting valuable background experience for my Business Administration degree with an emphasis on healthcare. Once I get my batchelor's, I'll probably end up quitting to focus on immediately getting my master's degree, and after that I hope to persue something along the lines of what I am doing right now, maybe as a CEO or CFO of a corporation that works with children/adults with disabilities.

I'm a help desk technician with a title that belies it's duties. I don't just help people on phones, I have to come to the rescue! Let me explain...

I work for a somewhat big nonprofit agency- Family Service Association of Fall River. We have three main sites on one street and close to ten satellite locations. (We have a lot of programs like what Rocky does!) We have to support 300+ people and computers. Our IT department contains 5 people - 1 database person, 1 network tech, 1 manager, 1 me, and 1 (new) part time assistant I have to train.

We have a large range of experience in our users at FSA. There are people there that could give us a small hand with our requests, and there are people who don't even know how to turn the computer on.

Then there's the issue of being nonprofit. We have no budget. We have to make obsolete broken set ups work no matter what. I tell you this, but I guarantee you do not understand unless you have worked in non-profit IT. We still have machines up and running that were originally designed and came out for Windows 95. And none to replace it. I have to get it working again if it goes down.

Then there is me and what I do. I don't just answer calls and emails about how to do things. I help maintain the servers. I help plan the network. I run cabling. I set up desks. I set up the computers then deploy them. I set up and maintain the help desk software. I delegate requests. I train people who have never used a computer before! I work on the phone system. I get calls to come solve problems as simple as unplugged cables or clicking okay! (Believe me, working that out over the phone would take longer in most cases.) I create user accounts. I deal with printer and fax problems. I help move departments. (5 since I started 5 months ago.) And on and on.

Yeah... I do all that for way too little. I don't mind, though. I like the people I work with, and this is the first place I have worked at where I agree with the mission. I'll probably be here forever, doing way too much work for too little money, because I'm a sucker.

Gee, I'm a babbler today. Eh, whatever.

I am an aviation maintenance technician which means I also have my Airframe and Power Plant federal licenses. I also have other certificate courses under my belt such as but not limited to: advanced composites and structures, advanced aviation structure, and advanced blue prints and drawings. I am a Sr. Tech at a repair division of a major world airline which I will not name.

I have been with my company since 01 and have worked in every shop in the building. We specialize in Thrust Reversers, Engine Cowls, Fan Cowls, Inlets and other miscellaneous air craft parts (such as flight controls). I have spent a lot of time in every shop in the building and am fully capable of wheeling my tool box to any area in the building and work comfortably.

    I specialize in:

    Actuation
    Composites
    Metal Bonding
    Structure
    Primary Structure
    Hydraulics
Blue prints, manuals and other forms of documentation
    Airframe
    Nacelles
    Autoclaves
    Paint
    New Capabilities Development
    Training
    Machining
    and many more….

Like I said I am currently a Sr. Tech at this place and I am currently working in the bond shop which includes both composites and metal bonding. My title carries a lot of responsibilities which also means I am generally given the harder jobs at work. That makes things a lot of fun. I am not going to disclose how much I make.

As for a second job I work out of my garage / run my own business. I am thinking WMD Composite Specialties as a name but as of now my business doesn’t have a set name. I contract in odd jobs (mainly composite work) from different companies. Generally the jobs are low work hours but are high paying in the same sense. I name my price for every thing I do so I can’t give an actual dollar amount but if I average it up it equals about $42 (US currency) per hour. Don’t let that trick you though because like I said they are generally low hour jobs (averaging 5-6 hours per part).

Full time Information Systems Computer Networking major, pursuing an AAS in Networking and a CCNA Certification and an A+ Certification.

I worked as a lead line cook until last July, then as a sous chef until this past July. I quit my job because I couldn't stand it anymore. Not the stress of the job, just the owner, servers, food I was being forced to make, etc.

Now I'm unemployed, working whenever my friend's catering company he runs on the side of his full-time sous chef job has a gig.

    My current job

Well my current job title is "Senior Production Scientist". As per my function, I use my knowledge of chemistry and statistics to determine the analyte concentration or enzyme activity of a material, and establish that this is the value over the shelf life of the product.

I work for a medical diagnostics company which uses these values within their calibrator and controls (which they also sell to customers). That would be a simple description of my main function, however I do plenty of "business" type stuff like scheduling & planning...meetings...department financial stuff...and whatever else happens to come along that needs getting done.

My dream job? A CIA operative who uses his performances as a Cirque du Soleil performer as a cover to enter countries and conduct ultra cool missions and such. That would so rock!
