Why is it that at times I catch a "cold" or feel sick, but I have no temperature?
Is it bad? I feel just as crappy as if I had a normal cold. Runny nose, dizziness, soar throat, losing my voice.( like now...) But I don,t feel hot and the thermometer says Im not sick... virus type??

I'm thinking about creating a hybrid. A dolphin-monkey. Half dolphin, half monkey. Do you think it's possible?
I was thinking that since I'm artificially creating it, I'll create it with rocket fuel instead of blood, and thus it will be able to fly, using the dolphin's dorsal fins as wings. And from the air, it will look down upon us all and protect us against sharks, and search for bananas.

Yes it's quite possible you may just have an average virus. There's always plenty of germs around in the world to pick up from even the most unlikely of surfaces and places. Also, not all virus's have a fever as a symptom, some do, some don't. It can also depend on the body of the person as well. Me for instance, when I get sick I almost NEVER get a fever. In fact I don't believe I have had anything close to a 'bad' temperature since my younger ages of 10 and below.

I think you just have sinus problems or something. It's common for this time of year (in my area where I live at least) that when the weather starts to change or fluctuates really oddly, that people's sinuses start acting up. My voice is starting to go as well, and I have a lovely runny nose to accompany it.
I'm no doctor or anything, but that's what I think is going on with you.
I'm allergic to to a lot of things, but this is not like an allergic attack. When that happens it's mainly itchy eyes, and nose, and sometimes runny, not to mention uncontrollable sneezing. But this feels like a real cold, coughing and chills included.

I also think that many people don't really get fevers when they have a cold. I know that I have had a cold/sore throat several times, but I don't think I have ever had a fever unless it was when I was pretty young that I can't remember it. I also have some friends who will not get a fever when they have a cold. In my opinion it is not that uncommon, but I am not a doctor.
So I'm guessing having a high temperature is more common in getting sick at a younger age than when you get older? Or maybe only when it's more serious like catching the Flu.

Yea, I guess you could say that. Some people may very well get a fever with sickness, it depends on what you have. But yes, absolutely, if you have a severe or bad flu of some type, or some type of sickness that is worse then the usual strain, then it would be more likely to have a symptom like a fever.
You may not feel "warm" by other people's standards because your body might have a different temperature then others. Though the standard temp is like 98.6 degrees Farenheit, it's not a stable number by any means and everyone's body is different. For example, for some reason my friend has a normal regular body temp of like 97.4 or something wierd, but yeah that is regular for him. He used to not get out of school when he had a fever because his temp would get to like 99.5F or something and in order to have it excused from class you have to have 100F fever. so yeah he got screwed lol.
but it sounds like you have seasonal allergies. I do too, get em every fall and winter. They suck, lol.

I've gotta agree with Dodie and Rocky on this one. It's most likely allergies. I'd pop a claritin or a benadryl and see if that helps. It usually works for me. Right now, my eyes tend to water up and my throat is scratchy, but with claritin, I'm not really feeling the affects.

I take Zyrtec right now. It works best for me. Strange enough I think I'm allergic to Benadryl. When I was younger, I would occasionally get itchy rashes as opposed to the normal sneeze fest. My mom bought a rub on type stick of benadryl for my skin and it got 10x worse...I couldn't sleep, the blankets hurt. The doctor told me I shouldn't use it anymore.. let alone take a pill.

Truth be told, I was fully expecting to say whatever had "no temperature" was dead. Happily surprised I didn't have to inform anyone that their pet or grandma isn't just sleeping.

I was curious about having no temp til I read your message. Like Pete I was confused a sec.
Well alot of the time I don't have a fever or anything when I feel like shit. Even in general my body runs colder than other people. My average whenever it's taken seems to be 97.9. I'm either a point above or below...or I'm at like 100 and out of my mind. Which is rare....

Dude, I'm pretty sure it's just a normal cold. I have sore throat, cough etc and no high temperature right now. From the enquiries I made when I thought I had the swine flu (it was very similar, whatever I had!), a flu is pretty much a cold with a fever, and therefore a cold is a flu without a fever. You have a standard cold.
A temperature above 37 degs C is when you should be concerned, and above 38 degs C is when you really need to get to a doctor. Last time I was really ill, the highest I got to was 37.8. 0.2 more and clinically, I'd have had swine flu :s
Actually, once, I had the fever but not the other symptoms, which was rather bizarre. Viruses and bugs are just different. With some come some of the symptoms and others come without, like some kind of biological pick and mix. That's just how viruses roll.
Back. For a while. Maybe.
By posting below this text you hereby pledge unquestionable servitude to Neo Necron
The common cold isn't always accompanied by a fever. For that matter, there's plenty of times one can have most or all of the symtpoms of a specific infection without the fever.
I had a deviated septum as a child that was never repaired. I've been on every allergy medication under the sun and then some until they stopped working for me. Claratin always worked the best, for the first two years it was available (by px only) but not anymore.
My allergies aren't as bad as they used to. I'd get sore throats, post-nasal drip where everything ran down the back of my sinuses into my throat, clogging my lungs and throat and making it difficult to breath, always coughing, feeling like shit in general. I'd get severe migraines on a monthly basis, at least.
Take some sinus medication and call it a day. Claratin is over the counter these days, always worked great for me, for a couple years at least.
If you don't have a 'temperature', that means you don't have a fever. And thát means your body isn't trying to fight off bad bacteria as hard as it does at other times.
Having a fever is pretty much a sign of your antibodies and good bacteria eliminating the bad bacteria, causing your temperature to rise.
I'm guessing that while it may make you feel like shit, what you have isn't necessarily something your body wants to get rid of as fast as possible.
I have no idea about what kind of viruses would always give you a fever, and what kind would never though.
