Do other countries laugh at our politics? We've had 2 backstabs now in such a short amount of time. Anyway, in case y'all didnt hear, Tony Abbott is no longer Prime Minister of Australia, Malcolm Turnbull betrayed him and took his spot. What does this mean? Well Turnbull was always an advocate of the stupid carbon tax, so that might get reintroduced. But at the end of the day it doesn't matter I suppose. Everyone is as trash as each other.

I prefer Malcolm Turnbull, but probably for the reasons that make you not like him. He has increased the number of women in Cabinet from Abbott's one (which was a given, as she is deputy leader of the Liberal Party) to five, and also appointed the very first Aboriginal minister. As a Kiwi accustomed to the Maori Party being part of the governing coalition, I almost spat my Weet-bix on hearing that this was the first. It's also nice that the Minister for Women is no longer not only a man, but not Tony Abbott himself. The carbon tax is a good idea (although I actually prefer an emissions trading scheme, the tax has merit for being simpler to administer). Turnbull also has a Minister for Cities, probably won't defund public transport investment that the independent agency that assesses the economic benefits of transportation projects assess as being of better value than many new roads (like Abbott did), and is known for getting about on public transport.

But, could be worse. News just broke that David Cameron may have put his hoo-ha in a pig's mouth when he was a university student.
