But since I'm no longer into it, I don't care. Which got me thinking about how many things I used to be into that I now find uninteresting or almost stupid thinking back. One of them was skateboarding.
I was always God awful at it and I can't even begin to fathom why I was into it. It was like a phase kind of and I believe it only lasted like MAYBE two years. From 2010 to possibly sometime late 2011 XD. One morning I just woke up, and didn't go over to my friends house to goof off on her extra skateboard. It went like that. I woke up, didn't feel like it and I never did again after that. I hear its common for kids. Its part of learning I think. We would become obsessed with a certain thing and try to learn everything about it and talk about it ALL the time to the point of annoying our parents to tears and then one day just like that we decide, hey, this thing isn't interesting to me anymore.
With my ADHD (which used to be way worse BTW) I always found it hard to focus on one thing for long, especially if I didn't really care for it (EI schoolwork) so the skateboard thing always surprised me.
Another thing I remember is my friends older brother had a Go Kart that went like 40 MPH and I always raced it around the back road behind our house and I wanted to race like Formula 1 cars. Seriously. No, really. I was like, I might be the first girl to race more than one Grand Prix XD. It isn't that I'm not into F1 or Go Karts anymore BUT I no longer have the urge to actually race an F1 car. When I got older I realized all the stress involved and decided that going 100MPH in a kart instead of 220MPH in a V6 turbo F1 car is just fine for me.
What about all of you? Anything you were so into that you thought it could be a career but you just suddenly lost interesting somewhere along the way?

I originally wanted a career in art but then I was like "LOL I need a real career."
Now I am considering nursing--the exact opposite of what I thought I would do.
I figured: if you're good at art, and you enjoy it, then you can always do it.
I would rather go to school and pay to learn something more of value to my life.
The title of this thread should be called "giving up on your dreams"!
Ive never lost interest in working with animals. Ive previously worked at an animal shelter/clinic with a friend who was an animal attendant there at the time. I had to stop because of my agency bt Id go there n volunteer if they needed help during my free time. I have a lot of my family n friends telling me that that is what I should be doing bt Im not emotionally equipped to handle seeing all the abused n tortured animals that come in. But I'll push thru it if it means more animals are being saved from pain and suffering.
I also wanted to be an assassin after watching a Steven Segal movie when i was like 10 but only to kill people that hurt animals xD #disturbedchild
I've always wanted to work with computers like my brother, then at some point I trained for a restaurant job which didn't pan out very well, so I continued my pursuit of working with computers, went through career school for their computer course and here I am, self-employed and pursuing my Net+ certification.
I would call it a dream I picked back up on.

I still want to skate good but I'm afraid that at 24 I'd look really weird trying to learn it.
I was however very good with inline skates. However my girlfriend informed me that "literallly no-one thinks they're cool anymore" and forbid me buying a pair to replace the pair I once had, at age 13. (Not really, but she has a point.)
Everything else I "always wanted to do I", I'm either doing it or plan to.
EDIT: I'm buying a fixie.

Sorry Loaf but. People take lil wayne seriously? You could've mentioned someone who actually has cred. Like I dunno, TONY FUDGING HAWK!
<_<
Yeah I just hated on lil wayne. WHAT!
Also, Che. I never gave up on my dreams :'< I still race go karts. I watch F1. And listen to how people constantly bitch about how lame the cars sound now DESPITE the fact that F1 in the 1950s sounds pretty similar to today minus the turbo fan OBVIOUSLY.
How can growls of turbo engines sound lame you ask? I dunno, they sound awesome to me. Sure the V8/V10/V12 sounded pretty cool... if you fancy having your eardrums ruptured by a banshee scream. Besides, the new cars are faster and in the end... thats what racing is about.
Wow I got way off topic. Sort of.

He said he would look weird while skateboarding, so I mentioned someone who looks weird while skateboarding. Tony Hawk doesn't look weird at all skateboarding.

I would have mailed you my old board, but I threw it out a year or two ago. Ever since I turned 21, I never really had the desire to skate. That and I hurt my knee playing softball that summer and have been too much of a puss to get back on the board.
It was a sweet element deck too, with independent trucks and bearings, and spitfire wheels... And glorious black magic grip tape

Everyone looks weird learning and inevitably sucking at skating. It's pretty much just how that goes.
Falling on a board sucks no matter how old you are though. Plus, the board will find any number of ways to bite your ankles, knees, shins and if you're particularly unlucky, the jewels.

That design gives me kind of a lady boner =D LOL i like it. I still have my old board but its a piece of junk. I always wanted a maple board actually. >_> I might get one just for fun. I could skate around, couldn't master the tricks. That being said I still ride around my beach razor scooter around. It really helps at school. After 6 years it needs new wheels though xD and the brake needs some work.
