    Love Thy Neighbour

We all have one - and sometimes plural. Of course if you live in a deserted area you don't (but then you're just like prone to serial killers, ghosts and all sorts according to the horror side of business).

Anyway, whenever you watch those TV sitcoms or movies there's more often than not a dream neighbour.. or a problem neighbour. I've moved house over 8 times and yet never have I met the dream neighbour *sigh*. No matter how hard I hope ^~.

My point is, do you get along with your neighbours? Have you had any problems with them? You know, all that jazz.

As for my new neighbours... HA. Neighbours from Hell I tell you... Loud music (that I can forgive...), cigarettes on my balcony (the downfall of flats eh?), noise of chairs at midnight and over... and oh yeah, when we were in the moving process they complained that they were sleeping and it was selfish to be moving in at the hour of 2pm.
So I've grown a small dislike to them... but who knows, they may transform into a beautiful butterfly... XD

So.. do you love thy neighbour? <3

    Following the path for truth...

    and ending the dream.

I have recently moved to new place and so far I cant complain on my neighbors. They're not my dream neighbors but they're okay, I don't have any problems with them and they seem to be good people.
Before I moved to this location I also had great neighbors, much better than these now, so to tell you the truth I had never problems with neighbors and I hope that they haven't any with me.

My neighbors give me food and let me stay at their beach house, so they're swell and dandy. My other neighbors constantly use their leaf blower, so they're annoying as a midget wearing a toupee, but I like them anyway. It's stupid to not like people because they always have their leaf blower blazing whenever I happen to open my windows. The ones across the street always park cars in front of their house, which is also blocking part of my driveway, making it very difficult to maneuver my pickup truck into and out of the driveway. But the lady across the street does pick poison ivy from my yard, due to the fact that I'm highly allergic to it, and can't pick it myself, and because of that, I tolerate the partial blockage of my driveway. The people diagonally across the street from me are the worst, though. They leave their windows open literally all the time. It pisses me off. We live in the city. Somebody wants to break into houses, and by leaving the windows open, she's painting a huge target on her house, which isn't a smart move, considering that she has three small children that some creep would just love to rape and kill some night.

I like my new neighbours. They like music and loud sex, by the sounds of things. They are friendly and will lend you their can-opener. Had a bit of a eureka moment when I poked my head into the porch late one night because it sounded like the outside door was open - only to see one of said neighbours smoking and then politely ask if I minded the smell. A-men!

The one before them was a bitch. She used to moan constantly about how the porch smelled like smoke (given we never smoke in the porch, don't get what her chat was on that) and continued to harp on even after I put a nice effuser out there to shut her up. But then a bunch of us stumbled in one night and knocked it over so now the floor smells permentantly of tangerine. Bitch. She did not like us having people over, which we did quite a lot, or getting in at 4am, which we did quite a lot. She also got up in my face once - 'I heard someone leaving loudly at 5am, you need to change your lifestyle' - because I had WORK at 7am.

Megalols were had when her boyfriend was up from England and locked her out though. I poked my head out to be nice, ask if she'd like some tea, saw that she was crying and left her. She was knocking meekly on that door for like 3 hours in her pyjamas, I should have complained about the noise. But I did feel a bit bad. Later on we offered her Evan's big coat because she was cold, and she wouldn't even accept that big of neighbourly attention. Pah!

I don't know if she was a racist or what. One night, about 6am, a bunch of Pakistani guys came into the porch and started flinging bleach at her front door, Evan had to scare them off. The smell lasted for months. They also stole the hoover, which I had to replace, even though the Pakistanis had no issues with me at all. She refused to get another on the grounds that she has a hand-vac or some shit.

Neighbours last year equally shit. They called the wardens on us at least five times a week. Once it was for playing THE LIGHTHOUSE FAMILY too loud.

I don't like my neighbours. I mean... some of them are ok, but unfortunatly, the nice ones move out too often.

    I live in a block of twelve flats. I'm pretty sure I've been through this before, but at door number one, we have a turkish family who are actually quite nice people... until you meet their son. There son is a trouble maker, loud mouthed, and plays his music loud when he isn't allowed out. His older brother is nice and friendly, but spends too much time playing around with bikes and cars - he revs too much. >>;;

There is an elderly couple living at number two, and my family has a little history with them. Nothing too bad - just some flirting that went on after my mum and dad split up. Something in their house isn't quite what it seems... and I have an awlful feeling that the man gets a bit violent... either that, or they just like sex which would be... eww, but good on them. =S

I used to hang around with the girl at number three until she got involved in a gang and started smoking. A friendly family... my mum still thinks they remind her of The Burbs, and although its a little true, I wouldn't hold it against them. Then was has the chavs at number four with the evil mutts. Not the nicest of people to know, especially when your white mother is dating a black man. They have issues... >>

I don't really know the people at five or six... I know that a really nice gay couple lived at five, and I went to their leaving party. Now I think its just rent out to students. At seven, you has the nice, God fearing family. We pass eachother on the stairs a lot, and ask how we're all doing. Nothing too friendly, but nothing negative either.

Ermm... eight is students. Friendly, quiet ones mind - the ones we had before these ones had too many parties. I walked out my flat once to find one of them passed out in their own vomit - not a pleasent sight at 7:30am. I've not seen them for a while... I think they've gone away. I do remember when they had a power-cut once, I sat out with the woman who was there, and she saying something about going to India this summer.

Then we has us. We is friendly and quiet. Well, unless you count Rolo who barks too much at the front door like a good guard mutt, and me having goth days and playing my own music loud when I'm home alone, then... yeah, we're good.

At number ten, we have a middle-eastern family who are lovely, and just like with number seven, we talk when passing eachother on the stairs. Their cooking always smells wonderful too.... I don't know the people at eleven, except that their son goes to my college. Oh, and that they smile loads, but I think its fake - and its only really when my step-dad is around.

Last but not least, number twelve. A woman with twin kiddies, who has a different guy in her flat each month. Well... its better than the people who lived their before - the hippies who were high on drugs, and tried to set the flat on fire when their kids were still inside.

My mum wants to move. I don't. I find it interesting, like some big science experiment on human behaviour. Though, if I did move, I'd want to move into my friends block of flats - they're all pretty random from what I hear, and like whiskey. =D

I tend to be pretty lucky with most neighbours.
The next door neighbour to one side has lived there for my entire life and she's pretty cool if you need help with something. On the same note you'd help her out with things like needing an ingredient, feeding pets or whatever. The nextdoor neighbours to the other side are fairly quiet though their dog won't STFU, but the advantage of the dog is it gives justification to blast music louder. Which gets me onto another close neighbour. I have no idea who the person is but we have 'music wars'. Basically try to outloud eachother with larger home theatre systems... Good fun.

The neighbour we had before the current ones with the dog was a little odd though. A paranoid lady with a golden retreiver who barked at anything. What made her paranoid? If anything living so much as walked past her house she'd accuse them of harassing the dog. I think I heard her barking more often than the dog and that's certainly saying something...

I haven't had any real problems with neighbors, either. I do have a nieghbor who has a yard full of dogs, and they constantly bark. At first it was annoying, but I guess I got used to it, because I don't notice it much anymore.

I didn't always have neighbors. I used to live out in the country, and the closest person to my house was maybe half a mile away. It wasn't bad. You had all the privacy you could have ever wanted. It does get kind of boring, though, when you grow up in the country and there aren't any kids your age around to play with. That's probably what got me into gaming.

I lived in a dormitory last year (apartment style) and had no trouble with any neighbors other than downstairs neighbors. I actually knew those guys and knew they liked their videogames loud. So loud my floor was vibrating while I was trying to get to sleep. I didn't consider it a favor, so I went down and told them to cut it out because I had an 8AM class in the morning. They did, and from that moment on, they only got loud during daylight hours. I could live with that. But sometimes Dan would come over and think it was funny to go right under my bedroom and bang a 2x4 against the ceiling while I was doing a paper or something. I'd have to get up and stomp on the floor to satisfy him.

Not so bad at all, really.

We'll see about this year. But I've got an apartment in a pretty okay part of town, and I'm on the top level of a three story unit (it's an old renovated house). The landlord lives on the lowest level, and he doesn't seem like the nosey type. I'm crossing my fingers.
    Curious?

My first set of neighbors happen to be a married couple, a few years older than my parents. They like to keep their lawn very neat, which works out perfectly because my dad is probably more concerned with his grass then he is with me at times, which I'm alright with sometimes. They're good friends with my parents, they keep to themselves, and they usually let me and my brother play Madden 09 on their huge ass plasma TV, so I'm okay with them. Oh, and they have a pool as well.

Across the street, we have another couple, also about my parent's age as well. This couple have five kids (both come from prior marriages): three of them are out of college and graduated, one is a grade under me and is in college currently, and the last one was a six year old boy the couple adopted a few years back. They're another great set of neighbors, as they take turns paying me and my brother to watch their son and their house, and I get free reign on their pool. They have horses too, which are kinda cool. They used to have a lot of traffic and driving going on in the middle of the night, but that's not even a big deal to me because I do that a lot too, lol.

On the other side of my house, we have yet another set of neighbors: the cornfields. They keep to themselves mostly, but I don't like them, they seem too suspicious to me. They move after the summer and leave their house behind so no one has really ever been inside of their place. I feel more comfortable when the beanfields move in, because the beanfields are only about 6 inches tall at best and I can see over their place, which puts me at ease.

Oh, and many people think that someone or something lives in my shed, but there is nothing there. If you are hearing screams or pleas of help, then you're probably imagining things, haha.

My family never really talks to our neighbors. However, they are very nice. My neighborhood is a quiet, friendly one. People drive by, and everybody outside waves and stuff. They throw block parties and invite everybody all the time. There's never any commotions. And they bring gifts to everyone for special occasions like Christmas and such. When we moved here about two or three years ago, the neighbors were all coming over to welcome us, offer help, and all that. Seriously, this neighborhood beats my last one by a mile.

For me, loving neighbors can gain a lots and lots of friends...but sometimes we need to be careful too!!

When i was in high school our neighbors are usually gossipers that thinks they are somebody... there's a lot dangers going on when they gossip a lot. O my, i wish they will stop it because they are the ones that are in terrible troubles... so it is not good trust anyone you know...

Im not the person who shows to someone i don't like that i hate him, it's like trying to be good (even though i hate it) bacause i don't want to get in trouble hehehehe... i know it's hard to do it but i just trying my best to love my neighbor... just be careful

At my old house everyone in the cul-de-sac was nice to each other. Now in my new house I don't even really know my neighbors that well...I'm not home enough to really care though. I've met them, they are nice and so I'm nice back. Even though one time I threw a party and they kept looking over the wall.

Do I love my neighbors? Well for starters, I don't even know them. They don't wave, they don't say hello.. so they aren't gonna get any waves from me. Not only that, but I rarely spend time in front of the house. I see them when they're outside in one of those blow-up pools for little kids.. or when one's picking their weeds. But we pretty much don't acknowledge eachother's existance.

Once, they knocked at our door to ask if we had noticed anything the previous night, cause their cars had been stolen. I had been up all night that day, and I didn't hear a thing. So.. meh.

When I lived in Nevada, my neighbor there became my best friend and she still is very important to me. I had other friends that lived across the street, as well. Those times were so lovely.. I'd do anything to bring it back ><.

I've always found it odd that, among my friends, I was the only ones who really knew not only my immediate neighbours, but several other families on my block. Unlike my old house (where I only lived until I was about eight), it's not like my family and I got acquainted with those living around us because they had children my age; in fact, almost everyone living on the block when we moved in were elderly couples. Suffice it to say, in the last 15 years or so, that's partially changed, but we still maintain regular communication with two families near us and one that moved away just last year.

The family that moved away was actually the family living next door to us. They moved in a few years after us and were a younger couple (who now has a son in fifth grade). Not only did we become close with them (my father excepted, as he's not too social with anyone), but we've developed a long-friendship I'm happy to say is still standing today. In fact, they just had me house sit their new house (with the added bonus of watching the three cats they adopted after I was unable to keep the years ago) for about a week while they were away, and that's not the only time that they've asked that of me.

But yeah, I guess my point is that we actually have made a connection with a number of people living near us, and I truly think it's something more people should make it an effort to do.

I've had some rather icky neighbors lately. The Last house we bought, which we've since left through some major toxic mold problems, our next door neighbor was and IS a total Arsehat. He does not hesitate to come bother us when something in our yard is bothering him, etc, etc. We don't live at the house (because we can't) but he continually reports us to the city every two weeks because we can't maintain the yard. This usually leads to us having to pay a fair amount of money since the city charges like crazy to mow. And when we DO find time to get a lawn mower to the next town, he's an arse then too. We once got some mowed grass on his side of the property line, like when the mower blows it to the side. He was Pissed. Led to ME having to get a Rake and raking every bit of grass back over.

This house the next door neighbors are slightly more manageable but still pricks. They are trying to sell their house, so they put a sign in their front yard that you can barely see from around the privacy fence. we had my oldmobile which was broken down, parked in the side driveway type thing, on our property, not in the street or anything. They came pounding on our door at the crack of Dawn one day, to make use push a clunker car uphill because people can't see the sign that they wont be able to see regardless, because it's deep in a subdivision, and behind a privacy fence. They then reported us for having a Derelict Vehicle on our property. It's untagged because it hadn't been fixed yet. (Small wonder, as we've been broke since moving out of the mold house) So we had to go junk the car, after taking any remotely valuable parts, like the stereo and nicer tires off of it. -_-

Anyway, there's a arsehole neighbor rant haha.

Back when I was a little kid in my first neighborhood everyone was really nice, though. I had a ton of friends, though the kids two hours down were TOTAL pricks.

    OMG I HATE MY NEIGHBOURS.
The people opposite me are a young chav couple and the guy is a drug user, it's horrid. Him and his mate always smoke it outside in their garden and the smell is sooo strong that it gets into my flat through any open windows, I'm seriously considering calling the cops for illegal drug useage.
The other guy near me has a manky cat that lives out doors and it keeps crapping in my garden so I started flinging tho poop into his, the way I see it, it's his cat so it's his poop too.
Then there are the two families on my other side who both have massive dogs who are kept outside 24/7, so constant barking all through the day and all through the night.
The family above me are really friendly and I get on with the woman really well, but her oldest kid (5years) is so bloody noisey, always screaming, banging, jumping cos he doesn't want to go to school or have a bath.

Hmm... Difficult to say. We don't have bad neighbors, I wouldn't say that. But sometimes every person is annoying, and so are they. xD"
When I was young we had much contact to the neighbors living next to us (there were only few houses only), we were like friends. My parents had befriended the adults and we kids had befriended the kids over there. So it was always nice to go to them. .-. We visited each other quite often. We were invited to eat lunch with them often, or just play with the kids. Lovely neighbors. x3~
Today it is quite different. All the kids of the neighbors moved away and some of my siblings did, too. So the connection is.. yeah, broken. Sometimes I talk to them, when I see them while I'm outside or when we meet while we're going out with the dogs. But besides that, there is no connection left. I'm kida sad it went that way, but perhaps that's normal. .-."
The annoying part of them is that they're loud often. Their dog sometimes barks the whole night long (<_<") and they tend to clean their cars on SUNDAY!! But that's quite acceptable.

A few years ago an old neighbor moved away (whom I had really much contact to, but whom I hate now because she was one of Jehova's Witnesses and wanted to bring 6-year-old Freya to talk about the bible with her... erm, yes, I hate you too, fanatic .,.") and new neighbors came. I haven't talked to them yet. Imagine: YEARS already. And they didn't come over (although they're living next to us O.o") and when I asked my parents if we should invite them to eat lunch with us they denied. They thought that the new neighbors should do this, not us. *shrugs* I don't know why.. but I still haven't talked to them, although it's kinda strange to have someone live next to you you don't know. ^^"
