I've noticed all of the ruckus concerning the Humor/Wordgames thread/forum, and though to myself "Well, instead of yelling at the mods who are busy enough, why not do something proactive?" So, I figured I'd be the one to step up:
Let's start a petition, those who do not want the Humor/Wordgames thread/forum, vote Negative, those who want to keep it, vote positive. If all of TFF can make a vote in this then the mods can make a well informed choice and not risk losing members or favor amongst the TFF community. When you vote, please post your reasons for voting the way you did, but let's not make this a debate, the point of this is to avoid conflict and give the leaders of TFF information on this heated issue.

*Mods, if you have anything against this, I will not take offense if you delete this thread, I know I'm probably in no position to make something like this and shoudl probably have gotten it O.K.'d first, but might as well give it a shot, no?
*Note: Being as I am borderline on the issue, I will not be voting, but if it boils down to a tie somehow, I will be the deciding vote

I'll be quite honest... it is a primarily useless forum with threads that have no point.

Don't get me wrong, sometimes it's nice to go off in the middle of nowhere and discuss nothing of any importance at all, but I really don't know that it needs to have its own place here on the forums. The primary point of a message board is to hold discussions and conversations. Yes, conversations evolve and move into other topics as the thread moves forward. Things go off topic. It happens. What isn't the primary point of a message board is to vote on which villain should get voted off the island next.

I'm not trying to be hypocritical here, either. I have posted in that forum before and will likely do so again. I'm just pointing out that it doesn't have much actual use to us.

That said, since it's a public poll, you know how I voted anyway.

Honestly, I couldn't care less about HWG forum, I ignore it completely since I really never have interest in posting there.

I don't see how getting rid of it will help or hurt the forum, I really don't.

There are too many members that use the HW/G forum without ever making another civilised or structured post. Don't get me wrong, there are some members that inhabit the HW/G forum constantly and then change their mind and become fully contributing members, although just now it seems that the there are two different communities on TFF.

It's not like removing it would slow up new members, if you're going to join a Final Fantasy forum, you're probably going to join it wether or not there is a little section to play character elimination games.

Bingo. The people that solely inhabit it contribute absolutely nothing to the community. They don't post intelligently, nor do they post anything of real worth. By removing the Word Games forum, you really give these guys an ultimatum. If they decide to join the rest of the community, then fantastic. If they don't, we really don't lose much.

I'm all for a Humor forum, where we can have jokes and stupid posts, but to me, the bare bones of it is that General Chat isn't as general and not as inclusive of "anything" as it could be.

If they wanna keep their spam-sanctorum perhaps the should step up. I doubt they are even unaware of the thinking to remove it. My opinion is still borderline, but starting to sway towards the axe.

That's because not all but a select few of those who do post in WGH ONLY really post in WGH forum what I've noticed.

Also, I don't think a lot of those members care about anything but the humor and word games stuff, which I don't see as a core part of this community. However, TFF is in the market for new members and that's gonna make an immediate negative effect on the active member list.

That's not to say that it will eventually be for the best, and pull in more members in the future who see that this site is better than just a bunch of posts that do not require any thought.

I voted negative. I've tried to post there multiple times and I just can't get into it. But I can say that I have tried to see it's appeal so I'm not just talking about something I know nothing about.

I'm a little confused why so many people are against the HWG forum. I was just looking through some of the threads, and 95% of the posts are made by members who are also active outside of the HWG forum...

From what I remember, there have been a lot less posts in HWG lately too. I voted against it too because I think that some of the elimination threads have gotten out of hand, and I don't really care for big spam threads. However, there are some threads that I like in the HWG forum such as the What are you currently listening to, v.2.0 and the Your opinion about the above avatar/signature threads.

I really doubt that getting rid of the HWG forum would increase activity in other areas.

I was just talking to Ann (Violet), though, and she brought up the idea of a more mature subsection of the forum for those NSFW topics. It's been discussed before, but never really resolved (that I can remember). So I'm bring it up again (or for the first time for you newer members). I still don't think we should allow pornography or anything like that... I'm not looking to start another 4chan (we can discuss enabling or disabling images for that section), but it might be a worthwhile experiment to try putting all those threads in one place. So what I'm getting to is: What if we replaced Word Games with Topics NSFW? GC would then have two subforums, Humor and NSFW.

It's just a thought, since our community is getting older. I'm not at all attached to the idea, so feel free to not like it at all.

There's a lot of older members now. I think that it would be fair if there was a NSFW section, if it were to be made private or only accessible to those that are of age.
The few kids that change their ages to view it? Then it's not our problem, it's their parents.

I dont see the appeal of a NSFW forum to be honest either. For all of the older members/vets, theres forums like the shinra and soldier and ebg that allow people to be more.. adultlike, I guess? But even then, its not like topics get all sex crazy in there either. I don't think it would have a big hit with this community. Besides, how would we be able to enforce who could access the nsfw thread and who couldnt?

I'd be for the mature forum idea. Make it viewable by 18+, no pornography, language filter off. There are a lot of younger members here, but there is a large amount of older members here as well who it would appeal to.

Usually when I think of NSFW, I think of obscene pictures, but if those aren't going to be allowed, what exactly would be the main content of the forum? Sex and masturbation? Do we really need a whole forum to talk about sex and where we can swear without it being censored? I guess that could just be my opinion, though...

EDIT: to Meier Link AGAIN lol, yeah the post report button should be utilized more often, but I'm pretty sure I do it a lot more than most other members, at least with along the lines of reporting bots and whatnot. I'll have to keep that in mind next time. and are you talking about ShadowNinjaChaos or Pete? idk SNC at all, I just thought his post was funny so I sigged it. As for Pete, he definitely makes more threads that are "good" compared to "bad". Check out his Soapbox thread, for example. If you're still hung up about his other one, that's old news. It was a controversial thread done in poor taste, sure, but I'm sure Pete and his threads have done more good for the community over evil. Just imo I guess, and what do I know, he is my friend. Then so what? Parents who let their kids on the internet take a risk. If you're lying about your age, then how can anyone hold TFF responsible? It's the same thing as if you were 16 and tried to go to a porn site. You had to lie about your age to view the 18+ content. No porn sites get sued by parents over that. And that's porn, which won't be posted on TFF.

So what if a kid reads the F word? In some countries there aren't any censorships on language in the first place, and those kids grow up to be just fine. And I'm assuming if you are on the internet in the first place you've heard something like that before.

Ok so I am over all wondering what the real issue is here, are people really that butt hurt over the WG/H forum? so what some people solely choose to post in that area, is that such a problem? Is it killing the forum? Does it directly affect your life in general or your over all TFF expiriance? I didn't think so.

To me there is no reason to shut down that area of the forum. As Gypsy so nice put it with out directly coming out and saying it, if you don't like it just avoid it. That is simple enough.

To make an actual issue out of this is retarted. There is no reason to completely remove an active area of the forum just because a few people don't like it.

Seriously this is the what 5th time I have seen a simular thread (and no offence to Rapso for making this thread) but it is rediculous to keep beating a dead horse.

The only people that the WG/H forum directly affect are the 2 staff members that watch over that section of the forum, it has no direct affect on the people that don't post in there.

Pete you said it your self in your own thread, people come here for entertainment. The WG/H section might not be for you or the other people that oppose it but it does bring entertainment to the people that do use it. Just because the haters don't like it doesn't mean that others don't. Who are you to limit/ question peoples enjoyment here at TFF?

As stated I think there should be more structure in that area but the over all eradication of that area of the forum is not nessicary.

Even though I don't post in there much anymore I am still going to support it because people DO enjoy that area and TFF is here to soley provide ENJOYMENT for its members.

Sorry for posting so soon but I made an edit and I think this should sum it up for you Rocky. Now I can not guarentee this but I do beleive that it is a possible option with the future upgrade of the forum.

and if that is the case, with making the NSFW forum, people want to wait until the new forums come out? Do we even have a release date on that yet? I say let's cross that bridge when we get there, as I don't want to have my hopes crushed.

Well seeing we have the report button and a forum staff this shouldn't be an issue. If posts like the ones that are made in WG/H are made outside of WG/H then they should be met with a warning. Simple enough. Disreguarding a forum because people are not reporting posts that they feel should be reviewed is just a weird way to go about things.

Then again the member that you rep in your sig made far worse posts at times them some of the members that come from WG/H. Does this affect your enjoyment because they are not friends?

Treize: Well, we've brought up making a sub-forum not only because some members are getting older, but also because, yes, some new members are as young as we once were. Right now, NSFW topics are just peppered in with topics about food and gardening. I think if we had another place to put them and made an age requirement (either 17, which is old enough to see an R-rated movie or 18, which is old enough to BE in an X-rated movie), then that might actually be better for the younger members (and their concerned parents) than what we have now.

I like the idea of turning off the language filter in that sub-forum, if that's possible.

Also, it doesn't have to be Topics NSFW, it could be some nickname. I dunno.

And Rocky, not everyone who is 18+ has access to forums like SOLDIER. This would give older members an option without having to open up SOLDIER or EBG to everyone over 18. Also, Shinra is for making forum suggestions and improvements, not for talking about threesomes.
