Figured the thread title would catch a few peoples attention.

So hmmm, what is your favorite alcoholic beverage. I know there has been similar threads in the past but I figured I would rehash an old topic because we now have new members and our tastes have changed over time.

Also if you have a strange mix that is rarely heard of throw in the recipe because I am always willing to try something new.

As for me I am pretty simplistic because I stick to domesticated beers, like Bud or PBR. I do have refined tastes though and enjoy a Spatten Premium Dark, Becks (direct import from Germany not the US shite) and a few others also.

Going to the shots. I like Jager bombs for the quick pick me up, and my three favorite guys; Jack, Jose, and Jim.

And for mixed drinks I like drinks like but not limited to; Long Island Iced Tea, Screw Drivers, Rum and Coke and oddly enough vodka and coffee.

There are a few shots I can not due straight now such as Vodka and Tequila but can still have them in a mix. Got really sick off of those 2 more then once. At one point I couldn't drink Aftershock for the same reasons.

SO yeah with that said there is a lot to discuss here. So have at it.

favorite beers include bud light (if at a party/bar) and blue moon (I get this at resturants ). I'm not really picky about beer too much because its mostly bad except for blue moon but I do not do well with miller lite for some reason, it leaves me with the worst hangovers out of just about anything.

haha I like jager bombs the best for shots, I'm not really a fan of rumplemints because I hate that minty flavor (makes me gag baaaad), and I don't really like the strong stuff but for some reason I drink Three Wisemen like it's water. Thats my shot when a girl is like "do a shot with me your choice I'll pay" because I am smug like a leopard and the girl gets ****ed up QUIIIICK lol.

mixed drinks? LI Tea, Bean and Coke, Dr SoCo are the holy trinity I swear by. Me and the doc had a fun summer, hehehehe.

and I can't blame you for not liking Aftershock, I tried it one time when there were no Four Loko in the gas station because it seemed promising, but it was sick nasty

I just wish Jager bombs weren't so ****ing expensive at bars. It's like NZ$10 for one, when the Red Bull costs less than a dollar (in bulk).

For beer, I often go with reasonably priced craft beers, almost always locally brewed. I don't know if they export, but Three Boys pilsner is great, as is Tuatara pilsner.

I do love my pils.

Beyond that, Canadian Club whiskey, and Southern Comfort.

beer - the awesomeness that is shiner bock and blue moon. on occasion BL is alright...i use to be able to drink much more of it than i can now. im not really too big on beer as it is :\

oh rocky just reminded me of something....a few years ago, a bunch of friends and i went camping for the weekend and one of them brought chocolate pudding that had rumplemints mixed in with it. it was pretty damn good.

For Beer its what ever is $2 that night, usually miller or bud light. My favorite beer is a black and tan(sort of). Its half Sam Adams cherry wheat with guiness on top.

I hate jager... and redbull so no jager bombs, I will do a Irish car bomb though. Usually go with vodka for shots though, Kettle 1 or Grey Goose.

Mixed drinks, I still stick to vodka with Ice tea. If I'm at a wedding or open bar Ill drink gin and tonic till I black out.

The advantage of living in Germany is that there is no lack whatsoever of quality brews,the majority of them being local, as well as cheap as f*ck. For example, one can buy a litre of the local beer in the city in which I live(which is good but is nowhere near as good as some of the beers brewed in nearby cities) for about 1 euro 70. But the best beer I have ever tasted and which I ask for in the pubs which serve it is Krug, a Rauchbier(smoked beer) brewed in north Bavaria.

When I am home in Ireland I usually drink Spaten(a munich brewed lager easily available throughout the german discount store outlets in Ireland). When I am not drinking beer, I usually drink Jameson Whiskey or Jagermeister straight. Expensive to do in pubs in Ireland as shots cost 5 euro a pop but in Germany its no more than 1 euro a pop.

I don't really drink much these days due to my dodgy kidney but I love advacaat. It's eggnog; I like it really rich and with loads of alcohol.

I also like jaegermeister, sex on the beach (vodka, lemonade, juice), baileys, malibu, bud, jack d...

I used to drink anything just because but since my kidney is worse these days I tend to leave alone.

One thing I cannot stand above all other drinks, though, is Tequila. Not only does it make me feel really awful, it takes half a bottle to get me drunk and is expensive, but also puts me in a really aggressive mood.

Its actually not to bad if you do it right. I tend to put quite a bit of sugar in my coffee and don't go over kill with the coffee.

Not a drink to drink fast though so its more for flavor but to me it is pretty good.

... So anyway.

I usually just drink Guinness. The bar down the street from my apartment used to not even carry it, until a buddy of mine and I told them that between the two of us visiting one night a week, they could easily get rid of four cases a month. Since then, he stopped going (he likes crowded bars with more people, I like more relaxed places), but I started going more, and they continued to order Guinness, even though I was the only one who drank it. It made me feel special. And like an alcoholic, I suppose, considering the fact that I was the only reason they were ordering this beer, and they still made plenty of money.

They also have a house shot they call "hot beaver", which is simply one part Jack Daniels and one part Watermelon Pucker. Sounds weird, but it's really good. I can't drink Jack straight anymore ... Jack and I used to be really close, but one night when I was 18, we got a little too close, and it's been weird ever since then.

Other than that, Jagerbombs are always good, not to mention most other "bombs", crackpipes, etc. When I don't have Guinness, I'm not too picky. I'll usually try to find a good stout or draught, but otherwise I'll usually just drink Miller Light. It's cheap in Wisconsin.

If any of you in or near Wisconsin ever see Spotted Cow (from New Glarus Brewery), get it. It's awesome.

I'm not a big drinker, but I have a lot of likes.

My first choice of beer anywhere would be Budweiser. It's not overly strong like Stella (which I enjoy rarely), and tastes better than most beers to me.

As for cider, I love most things from Bulmers. Pear and Apple are really good summer drinks. Strongbow okay too. Sometimes it tastes like piss water though, and is pretty cheap - probably why it's so popular here. Kopparberg pear cider is the best summer drink when served with ice.

As for the more harder stuff, I love Courvoisier. Courvoisier and diet coke is one of my favourite drinks. A lot of people think that very sacrilegious, mixing it with coke, but I can't drink it straight. I also like Jack Daniels and diet coke - I love how smokey JD is.

As for Jager... I've only had one experience with that stuff, last time I went to my friends house. It was good. I discovered how people get so ****ed up on that stuff, but I wasn't too badly drunk - just really tipsy and giggly. I love cough medicine tastes, so it's obvious that I'll like it.

Beers: Brother Thelonious, Left Hand Milk Stout, Stackhouse Series 6 Barrel (by Boulevard), Guinness, Raspberry Woodchuck, Raspberry (or wild cherry) Framboise Lambic... if it's just party time I do Miller Lt or Bud Lt.

Shots: Finger Me Good (Crown and Buttershots), Tequila, Rock Lobster (Crown and RazzMaTazz)

Drinks: Jamison and Coke, Tequila Sunrise, I Went to Ireland and Lost My Virginity (Vodka, Midori, Sprite, Sour, Cherry for garnish (the virginity) - drink I made up for a bartending competition. Tastes like those flavored icees you put in the freezer, green one specifically. Delicious), Scotch neat... maybe on the rocks, Highballs!!

If i'm drinking beer I like to kick back with a blue moon, or a Coors Light. Either one will do me good for a while.

When I am out I typically don't go for Jager Bombs. They are way over priced. If I am at home, and have Jager, and RedBull on hand then I will for sure make a few of these bad boys.

I tend to go with Vodka, and a good bourbon more than anything though. You sit me down with a cheap ass bottle of vodka(Heaven Hill, Popov, or Barton's), and I am set for a while.

For me nothing beats Crown Royal. Holy shit I love that stuff. You sit me down with a bottle of crown, and a can of Coke, and I am good for hours. The taste of Crown Royal is just unreal. God I wish it wasn't so damn expensive.

When I was feeling cheap I would buy Four Loko, and get f*cked up on it. Now that it is banned I need to find an alternative that will get me equally as f*cked up, and cost roughly the same.

I loves me some beer. Anything but IPA's for the most part. My particular favorites are PBR and the seasonals of Sam Adams and Blue Moon.

I'm also a big fan of whiskey. I don't drink it too often, because between me and whiskey, moderation is tossed out the window, but I love Jack and Seagrams 7.

I drink mainly beer. I do drink lager, but my favourite beers are stronger Belgian beers. A really popular beer over here is Duvel. I really like a lot of abbey beers including Leffe, Grimbergen and Chimay Bleu.

If you like beer you should really try Duvel and Chimay, respectively 8.5% and 9% ABV. I think you can get them in the US cause I saw both in the background of a beer warehouse in an episode of How I Met Your Mother once.

You know what to do!


EDIT: When I go out (as in: at night) I usually just drink lager, like most people.

My favourite drink in general would be just your common beer the best of which being Budweiser and second to that would probably be Stella Artios for me.

As for shots it depends how i feel. although usually i go for Sambucca plain and simple. Jegermeister is nice and for a challenge Absinthe that's some horrible stuff well its like Sambucca only way stronger, not sure but i think it might've been banned in the states.

Bailey's is really nice as well. and some Rum that a buddy of mine brought back from Cuba i could've drank a lot of that but he only got one bottle customs and all.

The thing i would recommended for people to try is a Vodka Slushie it's really nice haha.

It's my go-to beer and what I usually order at bars. For beer in general, I prefer stouts and wheat beers. iknorite? I also enjoy ales, oktoberfests, I've enjoyed the dunkels I've tried... I don't normally like very hoppy beers.

Also, domestics tend to give me a terrible headache... found that out on a camping trip after drinking like two Miller Lites (someone brought a case) and then after having a Budweiser bought for me at a bar... drank maybe 3oz of it before I felt a headache coming on.

The good news is I usually only drink one beer when I'm out (2 maybe) so drinking my Guinness is not cost prohibitive.


I too am mostly a beer drinker when I'm out, but I have been known to order a shot of scotch to sip on - on the rocks or neat, depending on my mood.

But I can be "girly," it's happened before. During a night of free drinks in NYC, my drink was screwdrivers. Some of them with vanilla vodka, it tasted like a cream slush.

Haha one night out (NYC again), my group had already had a couple rounds (one of them on the bartender), and this guy came over wanting to order us shots. The ladies with me had no idea, so I told him "Redheaded slut." I got a kick out of his reaction AND we were better off with a weaker sugar shot anydamnway. And! It was real tasty. Would order again.

I'm not a real big fan of hard liquor unless it's mixed. I like black Russians, but sometimes find them tedious to down unless they're filled up with coke (ie not really a black Russian). I'm usually a fan of anything with amaretto in it or stuff that's a bit sweeter like screwdrivers, long island iced teas and purple hazes. And I freaking love cream liqueurs: Baily's, Telea, Frangelico, you name it.

Beers suck except Guinness and wheat beers, such as UFO, Blue Moon, or Sam Adams White Ale. A couple flavored ones are good but I'm not a huge beer guy in general.

I do like wine, red wine. Usually cab. White whine is for old women with no taste buds who just like watery burn. Like their stool samples.

And as for mixed drinks. Jack Whiskey sours are great, Tanq and tonic, 3 Olives root beer mixed with, guess?....ROOT BEER. Fill ice in a glass and go half and half. 2 drinks and you're good. And though I've only had a couple in my life Grateful Deads are the real deal. Seeing as everything but the sour mix has booze in it.

If you want actual flavor in a sipping booze try Karrlsons vodka. You can drink it straight and doesn't burn. You can't mix it but for something like a martini, or on the rocks. It's sexy.

Goose is overated, Ciroc and Ketal are better.

Jaeger I had a bad experience with...well twice actually. So no go there. Jim Beam is disgusting, it's a sweeter grosser Jack, and thats why it costs half as much for the same amount. And tequilla is Mexican gold but American piss. As is Corona.

I dont really thionk I have a favourite. Though my staple drink for when Im out is vodka, soda water and blackcurrant. I like Southern Comfort as well, and I drink wine when im at home (just coz its cheaper)

As odd as it seems. As of last night apparently I like Crown and Root beer. Ahhh a drunken moment. Surprisingly it was not that bad at all. Then again I am going to have to give it a try in a more sober state and I will let you guys know the end result.

Everclear and Root Beer... Ever-Beer. Glass, Ice, I usually start with about 1/3rd everclear then as the night goes on, bump it up to 1/2. It's quite delicious, surprisingly.

Newcastle is an amazing beer, but I honestly don't know how you can drink Hoegaarden. I usually love wheat beers, but there's something about the aftertaste that I absolutely can't stand.

I have done this. It was A&W rootbeer, and it was so good. Nothing like Crown, and Coke, but it was decent.


I had vodka mixed with Full Throttle. It was so f*cking good. I will never mix vodka with anything else again.

Sex on the beach: Vodka, peach Schnapps, cranbury juice and orange juice.
Woo Woo: Vodka, peach schnapps and cranbury juice.
Malibu Woo: Vodka, malibu and cranberry juice.
Cosmopolitan: Vodka, cointreau, cranberry juice and lime juice.

Shots:Sambucca, strawberry sourz an apple sourz.

Alcopops: VK tropical, VK blue, smirnoff ice.

I used to drink alot of vodka and coke and also double southern comfort and coke, but after a few very bad nights on those I can't stomach them anymore.
