What are your first memories from when your internet 'addiction' all started? Do you remember the first site you ever visited?
Using all of the colorful AOL discs back in the 90s to make murals on the walls.

Looking up the cheat codes for Age of Empires I. I think. I don't think I was aware enough to actually determine when I was using a computer connected to the Internet or not. I do know we were never taught about it at school.
Oh, I didn't even catch the second half of the topic! I definitely don't remember the first website I visited, but I do remember Cheat Code Central. Crazy to believe that's still around in the era of GameFAQs.

I remember when the Advanced Research Projects Agency went online for the first time in December of 1969. It was essentially only used as a means of research and communication between various universities.
Everquest started it all for me.
i dont know.... i started craftily using the internet at work for ebay and stuff, so was probably that as I didnt have a pc at the time
Unless, PSO counts, I only had my Dreamcast that could get me on the internet at the time and spent a damn fortune on my phone bill 1p a minute sure racks up.....pffft dial up was the devil
I remember the senior management at school wanted to give underachieving pupils laptops that they could take home for studying for their GCSEs. I was either an average or high achiever, depending on my lessons and who I was with, and didn't have full access to a computer at home, and this angered me. I studied with the girls up for this scheme, and knew they wouldn't appreciate or make use of help if it came up and bit them on the ass. So I wrote a letter to the deputy head teacher for the scheme to be open to all who needed 24/7 hour access to a computer, and working internet. Few weeks later, those who put their name down for one were given a laptop on loan from the school with an internet dongle.
It started off innocent enough. I didn't actually use the internet for anything other than study. Then my best friend signed me up to the text based RPG Vaperida, and I got addicted to that game. I made friends, made my own guild, was rich, blah blah blah. I signed up to this forum when I was looking for help on something with Final Fantasy VII. I was reading a thread somewhere, and saw a post made by Chez Jaja which made me laugh, and I thought "what cool guys!" I joined a few days later, and then I had two things I was addicted to.
I was a late joiner to the Internet. We'd had internet in my house for a good few years before I had that laptop, but I didn't really understand its potential and was only allowed to use it for like an hour a week for studies and only when we weren't expecting any phone calls. Damn dial-up.
Its so ironic that my internet beggings were browsing EyesOnFF when they had the entirety of the FF soundtracks available for download. This is going back to about 2001.
The first website I ever went to was Neopets. I was pretty committed to that game for years. It's still around and almost all of the old games and areas are still there. I keep trying to get back into it, but I start to get bored after a week or two, only to start playing again a few months later.
The first internet I ever had was WebTV and that was really interesting. It was dial-up speed but it let me be on the internet and play games at the same time. I would unplug the WebTV cord from the TV, plug in one of my consoles, play a game for a bit, get stuck, switch the cords, and then look up what I had to do online. Good times!
I remember aol accounts and dialup being all the rage. I also remember getting cable internet within months after getting dialup, because my dad was all like "WE CAN'T HAVE SLOW INTERNET!!!" Even though he was never sure of what the internet was or how it worked. Shortly after that, I found myself coming here. Give it another 6 months, and I've had spent more than half my life here.

I remember being like "Where's the information super highway!?"
I legit thought it was like a road on the screen and you click the websites as they come.
I remember when the commoner didn't know what "Internet" was. Before windows 95, when computers blew hard johnson.
I remember being like, "... Internet... What the hell is that?"
It was this one. About 9 years ago which is weird to think about.
I started out by looking up game codes on different websites and I would also look up gaming news (mostly nintendo stuff at the time). I eventually got to the point where I would look up official websites to games like final fantasy (found this forum here during the search), and earthbound (which brought me to join another forum site).

I got kicked around a few movie forums back in '99. The fateful event that led to my coming here was that, simply for stating John Mclane was lamer than Jack Bauer - I was kicked out (I suspect the Administrator must've had a thing for Willis, did I unwittingly stumble into his virtual shrine? *sigh* I shall never know the truth).
Then I decided to choose a forum for another of my passions: the Final Fantasy series, and here I am

I think my first website I visited (that stood out, and I remembered I guess) was chathouse.com ha ha ha. The idea of being able to talk with people from around the world was fascinating to me!
I can actually remember my first friend who got the internet to her house, and she came to school and was trying to explain it to us. I remember all of us being so confused when she was talking about "links" and how when you click a link it took you to another page. Which seems so basic now, but it was mindblowing back in the day!
TFF was the first place that I felt like signing up to back in 2011. I remember thinking that as none of my friends or classmates were into Final Fantasy (or anything really) i'd try and see what what forums were out there. I signed up to KhInformer (a Kingdom Hearts forum) at the same time but after a week of bouncing between the two I decided that this place was much better.
We only had dial-up before then so the internet was very limited, i'd only browse a few wikis and look up 'cheats' for FFX on gamefaqs and stuff. I was such a noob.
