I have both my ears pierced, though I don't wear earrings in them anymore they're still pierced. I used to love them, but now I feel like a douche wearing them.
Do it if you want to! **** what people say.
What would you think?
I'm contemplating it.
I'm not sure whether I would wear a stud or a ring or what, but I'd like to get my left ear lobe pierced. Asking my friends, I have one in support, several on indifference, and a few more on negative. I haven't asked any family (and I dread them seeing it for the first time, because I'm not going to pause to ask my mum who would be an instant no).
I'm worried I'll look even more like Renton (see DP), which may not really be a bad thing (junkies are people too) -- I already have hair ~3mm long.
Opinions?
Also: for reference, and in case it informs your answer -- I'm a straight male.

**** THE POLICE!!!!!
Seriously.
I think studs look really hot on a guy. If he's doing it right of course. Renton seems like the kind of guy who can pull almost anything off. I wouldn't think less of you if you pierced your ear(s). You just have to remember to sterilize often. Ear infections suck.

Theeeeeeese.
But... for real real (and not for play play), I think I'd say something understated. A black or steel stud or a small ring..... though I'm more into studs than rings.
^hahaaaaaahaha
studs... rings.... I kill me

HEY DO YOU LIKE MUSIC? Because I make music.

Go for it. Worst that can happen if you don't like it is a tiny hole in your ear that will most likely heal up.
like Che though. I had mine pierced (well gauged) and ended up getting tired of them and haven't worn anything in my ears for quite sometime
I am the same had pierced but no longer pierced! Although my mate managed to push one thru (painfully) a few months ago after not having one in for like 6 years! But go for it with a small stud as said break tho mold you see to many of those stretchers and several piercings. Just get one stud in your left ear and leave it at that! I personally would walk past and think how cool it was! Same as I would love now I get rid of all my tattoos bar one (Chinese symbols around my left arm) as I got them when I was like 15/16 and up so just rushed tattoos thinking I was cool without having any real meaning!
Rabbit rabbit rabbit
Just do it and if you dislike.... Let it close up and that's that!
You totally DO look like a douche wearing them Couldn't resist.
If you do get your ears/ear pierced, make sure you clean the f*cking things! Earrings that is.... I knew this guy who didn't clean them, EVER. And it was disgusting!
But really guys ARE hot with earrings, just a simple stud would be awesome. I personally love black studded earrings. Mmmmmm
to be fair, Che, you look like a douche doing most things <3
and no pierced ears for me. It's just not my thing

Do it. You can take them out anyway, and the little hole is mostly unnoticeable enough for people not to see it, or grows back shut sometimes.
Just don't get one of those 'plug' things or 'flesh tunnels' or whatever they're called, which are popular these days. At least with regular piercing or earring you wont be left with a huge hole in your ear lobe you can look through, for the rest of your life. I imagine a lot of people of our generation will regret getting those things in the future.
Crao Porr Cock8: Getting it while the getting's good
Ugh. I know someone who has these, and he's up to at least 4cm. I asked him what he'd do if he had a job interview and his response was 'Hook the circle over the top of the lobe'. Fricking ew.
You may want to consider growing your hair a bit more before getting your ear pierced. You don't want to look like Jon Cryer.
Yeah there's no way I'd get a spacer; the idea of stretching my ear lobe freaks me out. Just a piercing for me.
The argument that I can 'just take it out' if I don't like it, won't apply for the first six weeks where I'll have to leave it in all the time. At least that's what I've been told.
Honestly, i wouldnt bother my arse, you're just adding maintenance to yourself and in my opinion they just look gay on men.
I got my eyebrow pierced once and always regretted it, it looked ok but i done it right before going on holidays and was told not to put my head under swimming pool water as it could infect it. So i spent two weeks mostly out of the swimming pool/sea which sucked as it was as hot as hell.
Anyway on the 2nd last day of my holidays i decided i wanted to do the bungee jump, it was off a crane hanging over the sea. Two of my friends who were heavier than me went before me, their arms dunked into the water, i said to the bungee guys, i dont wanna go in the water. He replied "Everybody goes in the water" I figured **** it, my friends hands only went into the water and they were heavier than me, anyway..
I jumped off the crane no problem and i start flying through the air and dive head first into the water, half my ****ing body went into the water..Half of it! Anyway to cut it short, it ****ed up my piercing and it swelled up with puss and crap and i had to get it taken out and have all the puss squeezed out, it was sick and highly annoying that it happened on the last day.
Getting your ears peirced doesnt make you gay.
Being gay makes you get your ears peirced.
Do a jacob's ladder instead.
Nothing makes a woman have a slight panick attack like a dimond-studded phallus.
I remember when as a guy you had to get a certain ear pierced others you would be called gay, I don't see the point in getting your ears pierced, my wife wanted to pierce our girls ears when they were young I said hell f'n no.
They can do it when they can make their on conscious decision to do it or not.
Anyway that's just my opinion.
A mouth of a perfectly happy man is filled with beer.

The finer details of a signature:
I'd say go for it, but I'd recommend not wearing a diamond stud or anything. That wouldn't look to great. Black stud would look best I think, but then it's up to you. Honestly, it's not hard to clean or keep up with, having your ears pierced isn't high maintenance at all. You need to keep on top of them for the healing process but honestly it's not that big of a deal and it doesn't take very long, especially lobe piercings. I've had mine pierced since I was very, very young and a couple of years ago I got my second piercings done so there are two piercings on each lobe, it wasn't hard to keep from getting infected at all. And if you're worried about having to keep it in even if you don't like it after, you might actually get used to it and may end up liking it if you leave it. If that makes sense.
As for flesh tunnels, my best friend has 16mm gauges in each earlobe and another really little one, I think 3/4mm in his second lobe piercing. They're pretty gross if you ask me, and they smell disgusting.
I'd say what is your reasoning behind doing it? Is it to enhance your appearance for a few years before you become old and wrinkly? Like a last shot on raising that bar from a nine to a ten? Then go for it. If it is just for the fun of it maybe you can find an alternative, and finally if it is just to piss off the people around you. Just make sure it is worth the trouble.
Out of stud or ring I'd vote stud.
Also....who smells peoples' ears Xana?!
EBG
You never kiss someone's neck when you're like...getting intimate? That's a time where you could smell it.
Because when he sits next to me in an enclosed area, or if he leans in front of me, I can totally smell it, it's that strong. Also, one time he shoved one of the tunnels in me face, was pretty gross.
Did it smell like when you haven't properly showered in a while and you rub your finger in your bellybutton and you decide to smell it and you instantly regret it?
Crao Porr Cock8: Getting it while the getting's good
I had my ear pierced for about 4 years. One day I got bored with it, and decided not to put it in. Then, I just forgot about it altogether. The hole closed up, and I gave my earrings (studs and rings) to my Mom. I didn't need them anymore.
As for what you should do, it is up to you. You should do it because you want to, and not because someone says you should.

Pick another movie protagonist to look like, I say,... still get the earring though, pretty cool.
I am happy to hear just the ear has been pierced if it were anywhere else I feel a tad bit uneasy of this post but I have atleast on pierced on my left ear but I want both but can't find any place that would do my right like wtf america

I thank THE LEGEND OF DRAGOON because it wasn't for this game I would have never started playing FINAL FANTASY and discovered FINAL FANTASY X which is my favorite game I would be more than happy to put this pic as my signature.
I'd ****ing kill you, man. Getting your ear pierced is ridiculous. Next you'll be spray tanning yourself and dying your hair blond.
Then you'll attempt to walk through a metal detector, and it'll go off, and airport security will find the gun you attempted to sneak onto the airplane so you could hijack the plane, and you'll go to prison, and it'll all be your earring's fault for setting off the metal detector.
Then when you get out of prison, you won't be able to find work, since you're a white male felon, and you'll be broke, and homeless, and blowing dudes for coke on the streets, and you'll contract herpes and shit, and you'll find a nice length of rope and a strong tree branch and hang yourself in the park, and it'll be because you decided to get an earring.
But you won't die, because you couldn't afford food, so your neck will be too skinny to fit through the noose, so you'll live, but you'll be court ordered to go to a mental institution for the rest of your life, where you develop a schizophrenic disorder and become friends with an 8 foot tall cyclops named Steve, and he'll end up killing you in your sleep one night, all because you decided to get your ear pierced.
I think one small, plain stud on a man is quite nice, but it doesn't suit everyone. And does give off the wrong vibe sometimes. Black or steel effects are especially nice. None of that large diamond shit on both lobes. It doesn't make you look gay, just a complete trash bag.
If you want to go for a ring, maybe consider a rook, pinna or helix piercing. Or tragus. Rings on men's lobes look like they would give off the wrong vibe. Be a liberal and get something different done. =P
Just don't stretch your lobe. Ew. Nothing more unattractive than saggy lobes.
I've heard both ways. I assume it would be better to let the ear heal after the initial piercing, but I've heard if you take it out just clean it like normal and it will heal just fine.
They might not be cleaning them properly or at all. Just taking them out and letting water run through the ear lobe in the shower isn't enough.
The material in the ear also affects it quite a bit.
Stainless steel and acrylic are known to be the bad ones
Bone and stone don't usually protrude the smell as bad as the others do, if at all.
I got my left ear pierced about 2 years ago, I originally wanted to stretch it but luckily that phase passed before I attempted it. I have a 2mm stud and i never really notice it. I was actually thinking about taking it out because sometimes it comes loose. I'm not sure aesthetically if its pleasing or not, its just kind of there. In my opinion, it's not a big enough deal if you get one or not because its just as easy as taking it out if you dont want it anymore.
