I'm not one to complain but there is one thing i wanna say about the "rules and regulations" on this site. I find it absurd that you are not free to speak the way u want here, by that i mean no short answer.
That you have to answer with an article, force something to make it bigger to read, rather than a simple short message than needs to be allowed sometimes too.
I understand that the administers are preventing spammers but they should have the wisdom to spot them as well, and not having the freedom to speak the way u want is ridiculous.

When i question is asked for 500th time, who is your favorite character, you shouldnt have to create an article to give people understanding why you like that character, otherwise you get an warning, what kind of stupid society is that? I know im making a big deal outta this, but it's an atmosphere i cant participate in.

Administers need to be wise, not spam the warning button everytime there is a rule breaking (omg somebody made a one liner saying what character they like, i need to give him a warning for 90 days.) That's no better than a cop using force on people and beating them, just because they can, and because that person didnt bow down to them. Lack of intelligence therefore or just getting kick out of harrassing people. There i said it.

I dunno what specific example you're talking about, but I completely agree with you. That being said, I've had my fair share of moderators being lenient in enforcing spam rules against me with one liners. Though I've always had it go the other way where I've been warned for reasons I thought were a little ridiculous. Depends on the moderator, honestly.

And it's pretty much why I almost never post in the FF threads. The topics get recycled so often its pretty gross. But I encourage new and creative ideas for threads there.

Okay, I'm going to be upfront with you Zidane. For the most part the mods are pretty lenient with short posts. If they weren't I would of gotten a lot more warnings racked up by now hahaha. They also tend to cater to the newer members and often edit their posts or leaving vm/pm messages instead of warning them. It may be favoritism as well, but if you turn out to be a unique quality regular member, they tend to be less strict with warning you as well. This may not be necessarily fair, but it is a way of keeping the interesting people here. The mods might not come out and say what I mentioned, but I be spitting da truth. In any case, the point I'm trying to make is, be yourself!

che's second paragraph pretty much sums up the same thoughts I have. There can only be so many times I'm tempted to copypaste my incredible reasoning on why Cloud should be with Tifa over Aeris before I just want to vomit. This is why the mods want people to elaborate on their thoughts and ideas, not just say "I think Cloud should B w/ Tifa " because that's a boring and vapid statement. I think they should have the right to stimulate people into spending more than 30 seconds making a one lined post.

What's wrong with giving some reasoning behind what you are saying? That's just a part of life.

@Rocky: Definetly but there shouldn't be rules to how you speak.
I usually give reason to where im coming from, but so far i've had like 3-4 short liners and 3 warnings. So as soon as i've done that, the police came running shouting "be more perfect!". It's annoying as heck.
It's just incredible how fast they do it too, guess im maybe unlucky.

3. Have a reason why.

When i came on i had both mail from you that i should edit it, and i had another message saying i have warning, which i find ridiculous sry. Both at the same time, seems to me that you couldn't resist being a cop on me the minute you saw my "mistake".

I have nothing against any administers other than what i've said, dont need to explain myself further, and Victoria, read what i said, 2-3 posts that i've made are not spam. Calling everything u dont see as perfect is not spam.
I suggest you focus on people that actually are being mean to others or something.
And being good administers is not about only finding fault in people, just so u know. But of course you have your reasons and find yourself driven to explain.

Edit: My complaint is especially filed against gypsy elder and telegraph. Rules and regulations i know.

Btw im an admin on a FF site myself and i give people warnings that are being mean to people, having certain language or posting something wrong and spamming, actual spamming. When a person's typo or one liner appears and he has a history of not "spamming that" i totally ignore him, why because he doesn't deserve it. I don't jump to conclusion and spam him instead.

I've always gone by two rules. Three sentences rule, or the three line rule. Both have worked good for me.

You're not a bad member, and you seem like a good person. However, they really do enforce the rules here on short posts. If you're just stating an opinion such as "Final Fantasy 7 was the best" or "Sephiroth is the best bad guy" without backing it up with any reasons, that's not the type of discussion the staff here wants.

I totally understand that you may feel the need to express your opinion, and that if someone questions you on it you might back it up in a secondary post, but nobody wants to enter a thread and read "final fantasy is gud game".

In fact, I'm glad you brought up being an admin at a different FF site. I'm glad you're actively involved in the FF community. But it brings me to a question of "are forums like these outdated?" If you're looking to comment with short answers liek that (and I know, you don't do it every post), maybe something like reddit would be better for you where you can upvote/downvote people's posts.

Everything you said was right. And it feels personal when you get warned for practically harmless posts like that, but you have to realize (and I'm sure you do being an admin on another FF site) the amount of 13 year olds that play the game, get online, and just post "cloud is cool". There are sooo many, and this is TFF's own way of trying to discourage that as much as possible, because it's really honestly just terrible discussion.

But don't take it as people hate you or w/e. I seriously like you, from what I've read a bit. They're only grouping you with the other spammers because you can't sit back and evaluate members on a case by case basis and determine if they're going to spam it up. You also can't pull favorites and say "well, he doesn't spam ALL the time, so I won't warn that post" because then people bitch when you don't warn someone for something.

Anyway, imo, let it go, stick around. Get on msn and chat with some TFF people about FF. You can do all the short posting you want there. Hope this helps.

Having endless posts like "this person is cool" can probably get on someone's nerves.
While i dont understand that, i will try to respect that.

I usually never post shorts, but i thought i would get away with it this time, actually i had a feeling someone was bound to jump on me but oh well. I just dont like people telling me how to behave, feels like elementary and im 23.

Mods gotta do what mods gotta do. We're not always perfect, but we try to make the forum a better place and I promise it is not personal when we (most of us) have to hand out a warning. Sometimes we feel like it's the only way we can get someone's attention. We have a lot of pressure on us to do our jobs correctly.

We don't think you're an infant or an imbecile (usually lolololol ) we don't even know you. All we know is "hey I should do this as a mod because people will want me to do this as a mod and if I don't they will ask why I didn't do this.... as a mod."

But yeah, keep posting and all. Get to know us maybe. Pretty much everyone I've talked to thought I was a mean bitch when they first joined the forums but once they talk to me, they see I'm not. I'd say that's true for about all of us.

Think of it from a member's point of view too. I don't know about everyone else, but I ignore short posts with hardly any content because there's nothing to reply to. It's an internet forum where people come to discuss things, and one-liners don't discuss anything. Spam puts me off reading a topic - only way to respond to spam is to report.

I don't even know which post you're complaining about, but I have the gist of things I think.

"What's your favourite character of all time?"
"sephiroth"
"...why is that?"

See how it really goes nowhere? It's like saying "Hi," to a friend, and them just saying "Hi," back. There's no ball in motion, no contribution, and it makes you feel like they don't really want any part in the conversation. And if there's no part in the conversation, that says is all; they're just a noob who'll stick around for a few days (if we're lucky) and then leave the site.

There are some circumstances where one-liners are a valid response, from my experience here. Like if it's on topic and makes people laugh, and is clever, then it'll just end at that.

If I really want to go there, I could say that you managed to write an essay perfectly fine here when it came to your complaint, yet you couldn't write an essay about your passion for your favourite character of all time? Hmm...

Excellent point The thing is I have multiple times but when it came to the same question that i've seen oh so many times, i didnt this time. I've done it before and for myself i thought it was enough. This time was absolutely uneccesary to answer, so i should've ignored the question.
