yeah, one of the many examples and reasons of why I'm not a fan of unions. They can literally cripple a company with their demands now, pretty messed up.
That's a tough break for you sir, what are your plans now?
Hostess Brands is Closed
Been working with Hostess for about almost two years now. Pretty bummed.
Its hard to find a good paying job like this without any experience, even with the 8% cut that was dished out to the employees.

hahas, updated July 28th (oldie but goodie!):
Going to school is my number 1 priority. So I need to find a job that will work around schooling.
I still want to work full time, because I don't want to have to rely on unemployment to get through school, but if it comes down to it, I'll take any job I can get.
I'm not that big of a fan of unions either. I wont lie, Hostess' management wasn't great, pretty bad actually (at least around me). But a large part of why we continued to stay in debt was because of union agreements.
Mixed feelings on unions here. They brought the 40-hour work week and we no longer have kids working in factories for low pay. Yay <3
All kidding aside, I'm pretty bummed about this. No Twinkies? Shame T_T

My dear lord...no more zingers!? D:
Someone will probably pick up our brand names and continue to sell them.
We might even get our jobs back if someone buys the company as a whole.
Here's to wishful thinking
I heard about this some time ago. Very sad. I'll miss them.. damn shame, too. You think Hostess would of bought them out? :I
Sig in production... Feburary
I really loved their cupcake treats no me gusta. Oh well, I still have my oreos, nutter butters, and nutty bars at least.
Currently Playing:
Wait.. Disney is in the talks with buying out Hasbro but not yet Hostess? Sounds like World War Z is about to go down.
I was never a big fan of Hostess treats, I DID like their WonderBread, tho. It was my muse for that mindlessly repetitive song I made up as a kid: "Munch Munch Betta When Toasted"
I really hope they get bought up and their products continued - the Twinkies may last a while, but that bread is gonna go fast

Unions have long outlived their usefulness. Now, they're just political activism and anti-corporate thuggery. This isn't the first time unions have cost business -- far, far from it -- and it won't be the last.
I would say that I'd be surprised if nobody picked up the names and continued on, but then, with the big push from people like Michelle Obama to ban foods deemed unhealthy, there's no telling. There's only one thing left to do: go to the store and buy whatever's still on the shelves.
Anybody ever had strawberry Twinkies? Oh, they're delectable.

Banana twinkies > any other.
When we first got them we accidentally tipped a rack of them over and our boss let us take them home and give them to neighbors and friends.
I took a tray home (1 tray = 10 boxes)
They were gone by the end of the week. Never could eat a Twinkie again, but that was well worth it.
I'd would be surprised if someone didnt pick up our stuff as well. I could see someone like little Debbie picking up our cake and bimbo out bread.
At least the major varieties of bread anyways. We had a lot of crappy varieties that just didnt sell well at all.
A union that brings down the means of employment for its members isn't a very good union. That's their first and foremost concern, and THEN they ensure that conditions are more than just tolerable, provide legal support when things go wrong, ensure pay reflects the performance of the business/industry, etc. There are many unions that I don't like in particular. But the concept of a union in general? You'd have to be daft to not support that.

Majority of unions over here ARE like that though. The unions drive the wages up so high the companies can't compete and they end up closing down the factories. The robotic welders that I used to work on at my old factory are now down in Mexico because its far cheaper.
Sad thing is that my factory wasn't even union! But we were a Tier 2 supplier for a unionized plant... shit really does roll downhill.
Mysterion - I hope that another company buys out yours. I can't see anyone really wanting to let the Hostess name go down the drain, its a very popular brand
Twinkies are nasty
Donette's > any other snacks
get at me
Donettes are good, but what am I gonna do when I need a quick fix and no Twinkies are around? :'(
Well, I guess Mexican Submarinos aren't that bad. They are as close to Twinkies as they're going to be.
