In a free society, which we try to have in America, people are allowed to be what they want so long as they don't violate the rights of others. The Freedom of Speech is always misunderstood; it was not meant to protect the voice of the majority but of the [B]minority[B] or of those whos views are not so nice. Everyone can have their opinion, they can voice it but they can not take any action that uses force against another human. If you want a fine then you support censorship, and do not support freedom but oppression. That is what a lot of people don't understand it is not just supporting your view in the freedom of speech but those of who you disagree with as also. The Freedom of Speech is given to all, an inalienable right, not to those who are in the majority and that which is nice. People must come to terms with this.

There's no point to fear homosexuals if you're not a homosexual yourself, so yes, if somebody is a homophobic, there's a good chance that that person is unconsciously seeking homosexual desires.

I do have information, heartthrob. I took two college psychology classes, one dealing with cognitive abnormalities, such as phobias. I kind of see why I don't come here anymore. It is fascinating that, while the people that are wrong sound like they belong back in middle school, the people that are right do not rise above such a classification either.

This study is about as useful as one determining the likelihood of the sun rising. Of course homophobia is prevalent, and it does not take a sociologist to look around and see it. For the most part, racism has left the modern political theater, although it still exists in subversive elements.

Don't worry though, Phantom. Gay marriage and a full granting of rights are coming. Probably not as soon as we would like, but as the old guard dies off, it will change. Just look at the percentage of the youth that supports gay marriage. Twenty years seems likely for the more progressive states in our Union, and it will continue from there.

I fail to see what you are going to accomplish by bringing your fight to inbred mail-hating survivalists. They are on the wrong side of history, and they will lose. But like the elderly that sit around and talk fondly about the days where restaurants were as white as the dishes and the men who scoff at a woman with the audacity to work in an office, they will gradually become a curious anecdote, akin to museum pieces and carnival freak shows.

You also might want to look up what a phobia is, especially homophobia, to realize that it's not all about fear.

I've been trying to get you to show me some credible evidence to back up your asinine claims. You haven't provided any, then admitted that you won't change your mind no matter how many facts you're presented with. Homophobia can be a conditioned phobia. I'm not denying that. All I said was that most of the time, a person with homophobia has secret homosexual desires that he or she doesn't consciously want.

No, I mean unconscious. It has nothing to do with dreams, it has to do with your mind. Not the conscious mind, the unconscious mind. It controls the way that we think about things, why we think about things in that particular way, our movements, and stores our long-term "forgotten" memories. It also deals with desires, which in most cases come out during REM sleep. You should really look into Sigmund Freud's teachings of the unconscious.

And I've been trying to get you to form an opinion of your own, but you can't do that, because you like criticizing others, but not being criticized yourself. How hypocritical of you. I have a question. So no special rights for minorities. Okay, done. So assuming that no one is coming into your church and saying "MARRY ME! I have the law!" (which would be wrong, yes) and we're just talking secular business, would you be willing to step back and let people get civil unions? Or would you still get all up in their business with the Bible? Just asking.

I am assuming you are talking about gay marriage. I am currently paying over 13000.00 for my own wedding...which in a way stimulates my poor governments economy. So I wouldn't mind other people being able to throw their lives away for an extremely unreasonable amount of cash. the biggest problem would be getting people to help them out. I have my mother in law, and my father. If you are estranged because of your life choice you will probably have to do it by yourself. I am not "for" gay marriage, but I tend to see it differently from more of a political stance. I am ok with civil union, but calling it marriage is as annoying as your kid sister begging for the same thing you have just because "you" have it.

Well as for the actuall issue here let gays marry. Marriage is a meaningless institution anyway. We'll see just how much they like marriage when gay divorce starts becoming common. And all the lawsuits that go with it. So if theres only one gender involved who gets alimony?
