Halloween is over a month away

What are you going to be for Halloween? Are your costumes elaborate and require planning, or do you just cut holes in a bedsheet and say you're a ghost? Do you decorate?

I sure as **** do.

And what should I be for Halloween? Yeah, I'm already planning. Right now, I'm thinking Ariel or Artemis.

Ariel being Ariel from The Little Mermaid. I've got the red hair and the stomach to pull it off.... but then I'm walking around all exposed in goddamn October.

Artemis being the Greek goddess of the hunt (and other things). I love the Greeks, and Artemis is my favorite goddess. I'd have a longer list of things I'd need to complete the costume ($$$), but the makeup would be funtimes. I've already done a more tribal, symbolic design for her in a makeup design class this last spring. Shit was cool.

Mermaids are cool... goddesses are cool.... I don't damn know.

Me and my fiance are planning on working a school halloween function. It is a fun thing here on post. Bring your kids, and they can play games and whatnots.

Other than that there is not much to do.

I plan on dressing as a pirate. Can't dress as something very scary. Don't wanna scare the shit out of any kids on post.

I'd totally want to pull off a costume like I did a few years ago, but my ma would always say, "You're too old for Halloween" these days, or "It's too cold, you'll get sick".

Maybe I'll just get a bunch of pirate stuff, ninja stuff, and a sword and be a female dressed as a male for Halloween. Or, be a witch. Or, be a robot made out of cardboard....

I was gonna go with gore makeup over clothes I don't care for much for answering the door when we get the trick or treaters that have come the last few years, then at work I'd rig up a few ways of seriously scaring the crap out of vandals. It was quite fun last year...

Artemis, definately go for Artemis... Ariel sounds fun, but October can get really cold. And Artemis just seems cooler. You could have a bow and arrow or something. =D

I dunno what I wanna be. I have a few ideas... I was thinking of going in a 50's style dress, and on one half of my face have a pin up style make up and on the other half, brutal, bloody and bruised make up. Simple, but still a freaky element.

I don't wanna be a witch/vampire... I've been those for the last four years now I think. Maybe something Carnivalesque or something. Not too sure. I've been gathering ideas since August (I friggin love Halloween) but I'm still undecided lol.

I love Halloween, it's my favorite time of the year. I usually try and dress up but I end up not doing it. I do wanna dress up as Jack from Jack in a Box or even The King from Burger King. Normally the people I used to work with at Best Buy throw some huge badass Halloween parties, so I will probably find out where it's gonna be at party it up again.

Not sure if it really matters at this point, since a lot of people are pretty keen about the mermaid idea, but go ahead and put in a second vote for you to be Artemis. And yeah, there's a Halloween Express in my town that pops up in October. Went there last year, and they had a lot of cool stuff, but it was fairly pricey... :/

I might not do too much this year. We'll most definitely decorate (we have some of those inflatable lawn decorations and other stuff we put out every year), but I'll probably be on candy duty that night.

Hmm...according to the calender, Halloween will fall on one of my normal days off. Last year I actually worked two shifts that day, with about a three hour break between them. Halloween night is when a bunch of us stay after the store's closed to 'set the season'. Come in the day after and you see much of Christmas up. Crazy, isn't it?

My boss may ask me to come in again to help, even if I'm not scheduled. Unless I get invited to do something with a friend (unlikely), I'll probably end up doing that. I don't think I've dressed up or celebrated Halloween in any form since I was about 12 years old. =/

Honestly, I don't know if I'm going to be doing anything. Every single Halloween, me and my friends make up some awesome plans which we never go through with, so I doubt I'll end up doing anything.

I was hoping you meant Artemis from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. Mostly because I think it'd be hilarious to go around telling people that you have a bleached asshole.

It's All Souls Day eve. All Hallows eve. Halloween. Although I'm fairly sure All Souls Day (and All Saints Day) is a Catholic traditional holiday, not general Christian ones. In a secular sense, it's a day to get dressed up, go looking for candy, and for paedophiles to capitalise. Wait, what?

It wasn't big here until a few years ago. Then it caught on, and we get annoying children coming to the door being greedy even though we have a taking-the-piss sign on the door that says that we are extreme fundamentalist Christians who do not support Satan's soul-harvest.

I think it's a celebration of greed, to be honest. The idea of 'trick or treat' -- although I doubt a single child realises it -- is just that: give over some treats, or be tricked (pranked; have an egg thrown at your house; whatever).

But hey, not exactly a cultural 'tradition' here. Just a lame import involving plastic pumpkins with fake tinny laughs.

Just haven't figured out if I'm going to go it alone this year or drive to another city to meet with a friend and do candy rounds in her neighborhood instead.
