Can we as a forum congregate and come to a solid conclusion on why its getting as much hate as it is?


Me personally, feel as if the movie is pandering. I think its extremely obvious what they are pandering too, which is why I wont be watching it.

Thats about the extent of my thoughts.

I said it to my friend earlier, Ghostbusters was good because it was fun, witty, creative and smart.

This just looks like dumbed down, meat head, dick and fart jokes, but it will do well in America so they will make loads of them, half because of the name of the movie which is the only reason they're doing this ghostbusers and the other half because their targeted demographic are idiots, which makes up the majority of population unfortunately.

I don't like that the film is being branded as "Ghostbusters." It should be Ghostbusters 3. There was already a movie called Ghostbusters, and it was fantastic. I don't like that they hired a cast of younger comedians. Should have just brought back Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and the black guy. Danny Glover. Ernie Hudson. Carl Weathers. Nope, Google says it's Ernie Hudson. I was right the second time.

It's a cash grab nostalgia movie, and unlike the new Star Wars, it doesn't look like a very good one.

I'm on the opposite side of the fence on this. I'm annoyed that there could and now will never be a true sequel (damn negotiations and RIP Harold Ramis), but I'm looking forward to this reboot.

I don't care if it's an all girl cast, I just hope that they can get the wit and spirit of the original movies down. I also hope they can get the feel of weird shit in NY down correctly, like the first two did.

I want to give this a chance because I recognise some of the actors. That and I'm intrigued what they ail do with this. If they ruin it, I will just join the masses and hunt down the producers with my pitchfork, for even touching the franchise.

Let's get to the real matter at hand. I care about how the movie turns out because my childhood is whimpering in the corner after being brutalized with shitty sequels and spin offs. However, I will lose my shit if they don't bring Ecto Cooler back

As for this, the trailer is OK, nothing special. But I haven't adjusted my expectations after watching it because it's just a trailer. The Phantom Menace had an amazing trailer after all. I've liked Paul Feig's films and I like the cast, so those are my main grounds for optimism. On the other hand, not like worthwhile remakes/sequels (or whatever this is) are common, so I guess we'll see. Hope it's good anyway, will really annoy knuckledraggers across the internet if it is.

Am I the only one who's disappointed that they hired women for a comedy film? Women aren't funny, at least when they're paired with other women. That movie Bridesmaids was advertised as the female cast version of The Hangover, and it was as dull as dog shit.

My childhood was actually pretty awesome. My point is that literally everything that has been rebooted from the 80s and early 90s has been crap. It's stuff that's entirely been recycled to hit some kind of nostalgia note that's been the rage. It's all sucked, either just being a bad movie or completely out of touch with the source material. The only thing that I can think of that was decent was the A Team reboot.

And Clint, I agree. Bridesmaids had maybe two funny scenes, and they were both the gross out humor ones. Then again, I've never and will never be a bridesmaid

I am partial to kristin wig though, cause I think shes talented at being a comedy actor, especially a women comedy actor (call me sexist, idgaf), but the rest of it looks like shit. Mostly when you get an all female cast in a comedy then a lot of men won't like the movie because it isn't funny, this is mainly because the jokes are mainly relatable to women.

I didn't particularly care for the trailer. The jokes seemed unoriginal or expected in the given situation. The fan rendition of the trailer that came out shortly after is better, but that does not negate what appeared to be poor writing. After watching this trailer I wanted to watch the original to see if the comedy was the same, which I know isn't. I wanted to be sure. The original was more organic this, as many people have stated, feels forced.

Never mess with nostalgia, people are way, way too sensitive when it comes to nostalgia, often recalling something being better than it actually is/was. That being said, this doesn't look all that good. I don't mind the all female cast, but they could have at least went with better actors. I can't stand Melissa McCarthy, she's unbelievably irritating.

I think women get a bad rap when it comes to comedy, to be honest. I think that a lot of women are funny, but I also hate a lot of the bullshit vagina acts that come about too. I like Ellen, Tina Fey, Maya Rudolph, Amy Poehler (despite the feminist vibes from Parks and Rec), Julia Louis Dreyfuss and can appreciate classics like Lucille Ball and Carol Burnett. To be fair, at some point they've all been considered attractive at some point or another. On the other hand, you have comedians who seem to use the feminist/ woman vibe as the majority of their act. Oh, you banged 40 black dudes and had a pregnancy scare HAHAHAHAHAHA so funny and empowered. No. It's pandering and bullshit.

Granted, nobody will ever be as funny as Carlin, Pryor, Rock, Chappelle or Burr
