The First Annual Quistis Ball

Alright, well I've decided to turn over a new leaf. This new leaf has been sitting in my lap for a while, but I've done nothing with it. And well I got the final push by a certain someone. They know who they are. I have a couple motives here. One I want to bring back the livelihood of my precious RP Forum. Second I want to grab new people for the forum. And third I want to do some honor to one of our most distinguished members that loved RPing and the forum in general. So as spoken before we've reminisced about the TFF Balls of old. Time to stop reminiscing and have some action. I'm creating a yearly TFF Ball in Quistis' honor that we will do around the month of November because well, its November now. Think of it as RP Awareness Month. ^^;

I'm hoping this brings out the old members as well as the new ones. So everyone can come out dance, drink and otherwise just act silly. I will be starting up the RP in the RP forum Monday/Tuesday depending on my avaibility. From there you can take my cues and just cut lose. You will pretty much come as yourselves here, if you want to spice it up by all means, but this will be your TFF selves, not your real selves. If you want to have a date for this by all means. You can talk and discuss it here and post in the thread when you are ready. Grammar and spelling won't be held over you, I just want you to have fun. Even still please make a good effort not to be horrible. ^^

Anyway, if you are wondering this what would be called a Social RP, one of the styles of RPing we used to have and I'm going to be working to bring back. This is only the first step. But I want you all to have fun.

Who knows Quistis might show up and Takahashi and her will give us a good show. ^^

This seems like a really good idea. I've never participated in any sort of RP on the forums at all, and this seems like a great place to start.

Thanks, that is what I am hoping for. I know a lot of people have not even considered RPing. So something light and fun like this might be a good gateway. It should also be a good way for everyone to get together and socialize and meet. I know I don't know a lot of members and this will be a chance for me to meet with them and them to meet me and others.

You're not going to motivate people into role-playing by setting something up for them to role-play in. That's exactly what I tried to do and thought of continuing, but so far these people simply won't do much of anything until they see the kinds of things RPing can stimulate and entertain. Until then, most people will stay lethargic and too lazy to do something about a hobby that has no life right now. It's a sad truth I had to swallow myself, but it's still a truth.

And honestly, you're hope will not be seen by these people. They don't care about your hope. All they want is instantaneous fun with no strings attached (such as having the skill to RP). I mean I don't say this to drag your idea in the mud, just that I'm absolutely certain it won't work the same way MY ideas haven't worked and they were brilliant. If I give a chance to help people get into the RPing world and improve themselves, but they throw it away even though I'm bending over full-circle, something like this won't cut it.

So what do I suggest? You, me, and the handful of those who have the similar hope needed, need to band together and create something ourselves. We all need to work on a new type of RPing for this forum and then go through it ourselves before letting others join. If we can create a spark of interaction between the best RPers here, that spark might start a fire later. Even then, if no one does jump in, we can still stick together. The words "You don't have to do this alone" come to mind, so unless we actually join forces, nothing will change.

Like as cliche as it sounds, America wasn't simply formed by everyone who wanted to become their own nation, leaders stepped up to help them achieve their dream. We need to be those leaders.

Just people getting together as a forum and having a fun time for a while. I'll be ignoring pretty much all of the rules unless things really getting out of hand, just so people aren't stressing about it. I want it to be nice and simple.

So yeah, find your dates figure out what you are wearing and lets have a good old fashion ball like we are all wealthy and spending money like no one cares. ^^; I'll be fun.

Andro, I've hoped for years that people would take a second to think about role-playing and maybe jumping into it to make it fun and challenging, but that hope was only found in the rare few people such as you and I. It's just hoping for people to do something, especially in a casual event like this has repeatedly shown in the past to never work the way you want it to work.

If all you want is activity in the RPing community, you could simply make it like Gaia, yet no one with any kind of sense wants that. The one thing we and many other sites are simply looking for is the balance of activity and quality; however, very few have been able to accomplish that without compromising one or the other. I think I should expand on what I was talking about in my idea.

By gathering together a group of people together who have hope, that in itself will create an atmosphere that will allow us to be active. Then we'll need to set something up for those charismatic people to role-play in, something casual, but not like this. There we create a multiverse for the role-playing world of TFF that allows everyone to come together from different worlds, I.E. allowing everyone to do their own thing. In doing so, it allows us to exercise our creative and intellectual freedom to interact with one another and will give rise to show what can happen when people work together. No, we don't create some super-extensive, highly-detailed world where people will be put off by the intimidating factor. Just a world of fictional democracy and freedom.

That, I believe, will work better than simply trying to interact with each other in a ball. By all means, you can do this, but it's only a temporary solution to the long-term fix we need. Nothing will happen until, as I said, leaders help make things happen.

Anyway, for the hell of it, I'll join the ball too, though I think it won't be for a simple dance. Kekekeke!

Yeah, I certainly don't want Gaia. Eesh, anyway, I'd say 6 years ago TFF found that balance that you were speaking of. And that is what I'm working to bring back. However, we don't nearly have the user base to achieve that. We have the hardcore people, but in the end things fall with just the hardcore. You need the people that just want to play around for a short time to really get things to push out. Because out of those people you find those to bring into the hardcore ranks.

They need something to get their feet wet. Once they get a taste they'll decide if they liked or not. If they did, but don't like the heavy stuff they will make things that suit them. If they didn't they will move on, but hopefully remember the fun time that they had.

But this ball is just the first step for me. I have a number of other things I'm going to be doing and revealing in the coming weeks. I'm going to hopefully be bringing a whole new wave to RPing that hasn't been seen in six years. If I have achieve even half of what we had back then I'll be pleased. This is a rebuilding processing right now and this it awareness time. And sort of a recruitment. I want people to have fun and see what it is like it a friendly environment with their friends. I want people see there is more that can be than just the serious stuff we do.

You have your vision and that is great. I'm glad you care, we have so few people that still do. But I have my vision as well and I'm executing it right now. If it falls I'll stand up dust myself off and try again. But I'm a little more determined about this succeeding this time around. So expect to see things that you are not used to from me.

Anyway, enough of all that stuffy heavy RP talk. This is suppose to be a fun time. If all you do is make a single post to say hi I will more than welcome it. No one is being held to anything here. You come and have fun and leave when you want. Just have fun party and celebrating. ^^

Gah, you're telling me. I have no desire for a serious RP at the moment, despite my efforts to bring back my old one. Anyways, bringing back old RPs is bothersome, because there is just SOOOOOO much to type out. That, and it puts me in this annoyingly cynical mood if I do too much of it (RPing multiple personalities is exhausting, because RPing for me is like a switch- I have an array of characters that have on/off switches and what happens if you have to turn them on and off constantly? They break and I lose my RPing muse. Bleh. I'm over-dedicated to my characters.).

ANYWAYS, I'm looking forward to this. I hope we can get some more people into RPing, because it would definitely be a lot of fun.
