    Favorite Plant

I realize, after purchasing my fifth Venus Flytrap for my terrarium, that I like plants. I do.

From Orchids to trees, I like growing things. Forgiving the obvious choices, like Marijuana or Tobacco, etc, what are your favorite plants? Ones you look at and like.

    My favorites:

    Weeping Blue Atlas Cedar

    Dracula vampira

    Weeping Higan Cherry

    Ariadne Japanese Maple

I might as well mention I have all of these. And as for Flytraps, I prefer the Akai Ryu cultivar.

    Yours?

    Re: Favorite Plant

My favourite plant that I've not seen in a very long time is a "Blue Passion Flower", or Passiflora Caerulea. A house near my secondary school used to be able to grow them in their garden during my first and second year. I guess the plants either died, or the owners got annoyed with the students picking them as they got rid of them and/or put a bigger fence around their garden. I don't ever remember it holding fruit though, or at least I didn't see any.

I also really love Cherry Blossom trees. They look magical. Heck, most trees with small, pink flowers are beautiful. I was walking back from seeing a consultant last week, and the wind was blowing the petals of such a tree and I was walking through it. It was so pretty. =')

I'm not really a flower person, really. Receiving them is nice, and I can arrange them nicely and look after them, but there's no bad smell like flowers that have been in a vase for too long (me and my brother dealt with a vase of flowers that had been sitting in nan's room since 27th April the other day... she did change the water, but daymn...). If I was to ever receive any, nice smells are lovely (not strong or weak), and I like darker coloured petals although lighter ones just add freshness to a room.

    Re: Favorite Plant

My favorite plant is kholm-grass, which is a type of grass native to the planet Honoghr. Unfortunately, though, during the Battle of Honoghr, the planet was devastated, and much of the plant life died out. Still, the new kholm-grass hybrid that the Empire created to enslave the Noghri people isn't that bad. Sure, it contains poisons from various other planets, but it's still quite lovely in the spring time.

Caerulea produces a fruit, but it's not the passionfruit you see in stores. That's Passiflora edulis. It's not as pretty imo. We had a bunch of wild passionflowers that bloom around here, and though they're not as pretty it's still a pleasure to find the blooms or make lemonade out of the fruits.

But yes, Passionflowers are awesome and they come in a trillion different colors and shapes. Unfortunately they're not truly intune with the Hardiness zone near my house. All we get are the annual wild vines.

As for flowers, well, some people like them and some see them as useless. Idk, I like all things that grow and something pretty to look at, is just that and that's never useless. I will admit that stale rotting flowers in a vase is one of the nastiest smells on earth. Terrible sickly sweet smell.

    EDIT:

And Clint, good choice, I always loved kholm grass, once it's freshly sprouted. I hear it's invasive though and illegal to plant in some states. My favorite cultivar is 'Prairie Fire Wave'.

    EDITEDIT:

    And yes, Marijuana... That too.

    Re: Favorite Plant

My favourite type of trees are cherry blossom aswell, as for other plants I've always been a fan of roses, I like all sorts of colours, red, pink, white but my favourite is the blue roses, although I don't see them very often on the flower market stalls, not sure why though. Although lately I've been going pink tulips in my kitchen.
Another favourite plant of mine, are strawberry plants, I plan to grow my own this year, or at least attempt it.

The majestic mango tree, grower of deliciousness.
Don't mind lemon trees neither, they're convenient when you want a lemon for in your corona or over your fish.

    Kyreaan's Gardening Tip #1

For me, I would say the bonsai trees similar to, not limited to in type, the Pomegranate Bonsai Tree and Juniper Bonsai Tree. Bonsai trees were the simplest plants to grow in the world to me, and you don't have to be a karate master or die in a Ben Affleck movie just to wake up in your own movie with a pair of sai and red outfit.

I never tied myself down with a schedule using bonsai food. I used plant food spikes. I ignored the directions and used what worked for me. I placed two spikes into the pot at an angle. It lasts for months. You won't need to feed again for another 4 months. This also includes the fact you'll be using potting soil suited for medium size potted plants. My favorite was also the bonsais that bear an orange-red to violet fruit not unlike a certain type of crab apple. I've also seen Plum Bonsai that looks great. I never had to listen to anyone when it came to growing my own plants, after the entire world found out that someone invented spikes that feed your plants. You'll also want to keep the fresh potting soil damp and soaked after packed. This lets the roots spread throughout firm and wet dirt.

If you are not placing any trees within pots, and therefore not using potting soil, mixing your own fertilizer is simple. Bulk mixture for fertilizer can be found at a garden improvement store. This bulk mixture will make 64% of the entire mix. The rest of the mix spread over your garden patch for such trees will have 24% nitrogen, 4% phosphate, and 8% potassium. Some of you will not be able to find these things. You could either buy fish to plant underneath your bonsai trees or fork over more money to buy premade gardening soil.
