You have to really know your stuff and your bloody pie to walk into an Irish restaurant, on a show called Kitchen Nightmares, and start yelling bloody pissed off telling the crew how bloody stupid they really are for running an Irish restaurant and can't even make a Shepherd's Pie right. Did any of you see that episode? I thought I have had Shepherd's Pie until I saw how it was redone in that episode. I love this guy's shows. I really like watching him travel the world in his other show, 'Gordon's Great Escape'. It's bloody great. This guy is my favorite with a cooking show next to the Two Fat Ladies and Old Justin. One of these days, I will have to wrap my hands around that Shepherd's Pie or find someone who can duplicate the bloody thing.

Nothing else can beat Steak and Stout , a lethal combination, when it comes to savoury pies. Honorable mentions to Cumberland Fish pie and Cottage pie(yes there is a diffference between cottage and shephards pie).
When it comes to the sweet variety though, something with lots of caramel or toffee is just perfect.

Other than that my favorite pie would have to be pecan. It is so sugary though that it hurts the fillings in my teeth when I eat it. Best is one from Cracker Barrel.

I'm not a big pie fan. I like chicken and mushroom, and I often like the pastry on pies, but the fillings make me feel a bit sick most of the time. Chicken and mushroom is the only one which doesn't. I agree that McDonald's apple pie is nice, they put a lot of cinnamon in there.

Ah, the magical lemon pie. You know what lemon pie is made of, right? Lime. As bizarre as it seems, I'm honestly telling the truth. The only reason it wasn't named Lime Pie is because it was felt people would confuse it with Key Lime Pie, so it was just named after a very similar fruit; the lemon.

I'm a fan of funky pie. I've only ever had it twice at my favourite restaurant for desert. At a first glance, it looks like a tart, and I guess it kind of is. It's got a soft pastry base and sides, with tough ice-cream inside. The top is covered with chocolate and caramel, and sprinkled with nuts. Delicious.
I also like apple pie. Who doesn't? I like it warm with ice-cream, custard or single cream. McDonalds, as much as I hate it, do a lovely apple pie snack. It's even more good if you pick up a Crunchy McFlurry, put the apple pie in it, and eat it. The heat melts the ice-cream and cools the apple pie at the same time.
As for 'dinner' pies... can't go wrong with chicken and mushroom or steak and gravy. I absolutely hate steak and kidney pie, and wouldn't go near one with a barge pole. Something about the texture makes me gag.
